Great Tribute to Hank Williams.......2000-05-02

If you're a fan of Bap Kennedy's albums 'Domestic Blues' or 'Lonely Street' (both excellent discs), then you owe it to yourself to pick up this Hank Williams tribute, 'Hillbilly Shakespeare'.

Bap and his band are in top form on this disc, injecting a little celtic folk style into the classic songs of Hank Williams. This is easily the best hank Williams tribute I have heard so far, and I've heard a few over the years.

Bap Kennedy is a truly underappreciated singer and songwriter.

This CD is great for fans of both Bap Kennedy and Hank Williams. Consisting entirely of covers of Hank Williams songs, it is great to listen to-- particular favorites of mine are "Angel of Death" and "I Saw the Light". It has stayed in my CD player since I bought it; and is a welcome follow-up to his "Domestic Blues" album. I can't wait to hear his next album-- hopefully his originals.
