Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Ultra-Fine Country Twang from the Extraordinary Lauderdale.......2001-05-02

This disc, which was originally recorded in 1989, is really premium timeless country. Jim Lauderdale mixes the heart wrenching with the shuffles, I suppose to keep the listener interested, but with this release there is simply no need for such insurance. Every Lauderdale crafted song is a brilliant gem. It's a mystery why this collection wasn't released until 2001, and it's clear that Jim is a master songwriter with years of success to prove it. Lauderdale doesn't set out to prove anything, however. He offers up a selection of beautiful, catchy and provocative country flavored songs which make me feel like he's opened up a treasure chest. He seems so humble, considering the gifts he possesses. Not only does he keep the twang of country alive and refreshing, but when he taps into his bluegrass and rock veins, it's clear to see he was born to write a song or two. Rock on, Jim, and thank you. My favorite at the moment is the passion pleader "Hold On My Love".
