Mesas and Mandolins

Editorial Reviews

Label Comments
" Like a good many artists today, Heartwood and her band fit in somewhere between country and rock, and bluegrass, and blues. Stealin Horses exploits this head on in it's new release, Mesas and Mandolins" Jeff Thomas Day and Night

".. hypnotic stage presence,, with fierce primal energy..." Kevin Gordon Nashville Metro

" But what should really propel Stealin Horses are the songs, which are really stories.... make a note of this band." New York Daily News

I may be a "tad" prejudiced since I've seen Stealin Horses perform twice, Kiya Heartwood solo twice, and Wishing Chair just recently, but I must say if anyone purchases this album, you won't be disapointed. It's got a taste of country, folk, and rock. Particular favorite tracks are This House, 1968 (A Good Day For Robbin' Trains), and Broadform Deed. While it's somewhat sad that Stealin Horses is no more, Kiya Heartwood can still be heard in her newest venture, Wishing Chair. Check out their releases, too!!
