Tim Rushlow

Former Little Texas lead vocalist Tim Rushlow bases much of his first solo album on a lightweight, poppish sound not unlike that of his old band. To his credit producer David Malloy generally (though not always) plays to Rushlow's strong points. Easy rockers "The World Turns," "Crazy Life," "That's How It's Gonna Be," and "American Cars" have a festive, cotton-candy air undeniably aimed at radio. As such, they're pleasantly inoffensive if not memorable. When the mood turns romantic, things turn more uneven. "When You Love Me" and "Everything to You" are formulaic to a fault. "I Live" has nothing distinguishing it from every other overblown power ballad. Rushlow's strengths here lie elsewhere. His skills in conveying more somber, honest sentiments account for the best moments here. It shines through on the album's two most powerful moments: the vivid, moving "She Misses Him," a sensitive tale of love and courage in the face of Alzheimer's, and with "The Package," an affecting story of love after death. Those two numbers say more about Rushlow's real potential than any other songs on the album; he needn't limit himself to lighter fare. --Rich Kienzle

5 out of 5 stars I love this Cd!!.......2002-07-24

I was flipping through the radio when I heard "She Misses Him". I stoped my car and cried. It was the most MOVING song! Finally, after hearing WHO the artist was, I rushed out to buy the CD.

"She Misses Him" will always make me cry, but "Everything to You" is my current favorite. It's the perfect song during the courtship of a new romance where you want to know everything!! Perfect!!

My five year old LOVES "American Cars".

I love all the songs, and "It's a Crazy Life" just makes me grin.

Enjoy the cd!!!

3 out of 5 stars Solo Debut.......2001-10-06

Former Little Texas lead singer Tim Rushlow began his solo career on a high note with the enclosed hit single "She Misses Him," a stirring saga of a woman dealing with her husband's Alzheimer's disease. Another heartfelt track on this self-titled debut, "The Package" (in which a man arranges to have gifts delivered to his wife after his death), may be even better.

Unfortunately, these gems aren't indicative of the album as a whole. "In The Meantime" and "Crazy Life" are hollow slice of life pieces, while the up-tempo romps "American Cars" and "The World Turns" offer plenty of catchy grooves and zero originality. With "I Live," Rushlow (one of the best balladeers in country) reveals that even he can't save a bland power ballad.

Rarely a songwriting contributor to Little Texas efforts, Rushlow has impressively written four tracks on this album (one of which is "The Package"). Hopefully his newfound writing commitment, as well as his recent success dealing with important subject matter, will lead to a more consistent effort next time around.

5 out of 5 stars One Great CD.......2001-09-19

I bought the album for the song "She misses him" which is wonderful, but I believe "Then there's me" is 10 times better. It is just one fun song. The whole cd is wonderful and I just hope Tim doesn't get "lost in the shuffle" with his record company going under.

5 out of 5 stars UNBELIEVABLE!!!!.......2001-07-05

This cd has to be the best cd I have ever heard! Great job Tim!!! The best songs on it are She Misses Him, Craizy Life, The Package, I Live, In The Meantime, & Then There's Me! I love this cd as much as I do meca!!!

5 out of 5 stars He's on his own and doing great!.......2001-04-16

In case you hadn't caught it, Tim Rushlow used to sing for Litte Texas. I had never been a big fan of their's, so I hesitated to buy this album. After hearing some going reviews, however, I decided to give it a try. Boy, was it a good buy! Only one other CD--Chris Cagle's "Play It Loud"--has affected me this much on my first time listening to it. Starting off with "Then There's Me," you know right away this CD's going to be a hit. "In the Meantime" shows what happens to us whose dreams don't come true. "She Misses Him" is very moving, telling the tale of an old couple--"The Package" is quite similar. "Crazy Life" is made for radio. "American Cars" keeps rockin'. "When You Love Me" and "I Live" both give great romantic lyrics--sung well, I might add. "Everything To You" is my personal favorite, a toned-down version of Mark Will's "Everything There Is To Know About You". "The World Turns" is another beautiful song. The album ends with the fast-paced "That's How It's Gonna Be". Tim Rushlow's talents extend beyond singing, however; he also co-wrote five of the album's songs. This is a great CD that I reccomened you buy right now!

I've been told that Music Maestro has gone out of business so this CD will most likely become rather hard to find in the near future. The songs included are as follows:
