5 out of 5 stars Hi! I've an armadillo in my trousers!.......2004-11-13

There are two listings for this title, so I chose the one with the picture. That's because I'm all Hollywood like that.

But the real bad news - is that this title is listed as out-of-print.

Although the real good news - is that I visited the band's website; and John Jorgenson will sell you some of his personal stash, which he keeps in the trunk of his Chevy. You see, he stole the last ten cases of product from Pacific Arts Studio, when Mike Nesmith was passed out from too much Wite-Out fumes. You see, although Nesmith has poor grammar, he is rather a bit of a perfectionist; so his neurotic tendancies are your good fortune here.

Seriously, they're about $18 plus S & H. Or there's of course the z-Shop sellers, some of whom in my opinion, need to adjust their price on this item.

The best news - is that I paid about $8 for my very good used copy from Django's, and found the insert had been autographed by the band! Way!!!

My favorite cuts start with 'Back On Terra Firma', with its Cherokee drums and John's tight soloing. Then there's 'Sweet Dreams', Will's touching tribute to Roy Buchanan. I mean, he really touches them thar' frets, boy! Next, is the classic 'King Arthur's Dream', from I think, Jerry's early Fairport Convention days. Anyway, its surreal B-bent tones will transport you back in time, until you find yourself a fair maiden wandering about the moors, awaiting that lamb slice and flagon of mead. And John's expressive tone on 'Passion' (by the Gipsy Kings), will have you weeping like a liar, and calling all those women you mistreated to beg for their forgiveness.

Gosh! This album is just so chock full 'o string stretchy goodness! Mom! Buy me the Hellecasters! Please!

5 out of 5 stars Unbelievable.......2004-10-09

Unbelievable is what you will say when you first hear this! Amazing guitar. Like nothing else out there. This and Danny Gattons Unfinished Business are the two best Guitar albums period. If you love guitar, buy this!

I came across The Hellecasters by accident. I was trying to find a fiddle version of "Orange Blossom Special" and came across their version. It is the greatest instrumental ever!! I have never heard such string bending, sliding, picking etc. These guys know how to play, and every single song on this album is nothing short of amazing. There are some great three way harmonies all over the place, and each guitarist gets to show off their skills individually - John on "Back On Terra Firma" and "Passion", Jerry on "Menage: The Beak/The Claw", and Will on the awesome "Sweet Dreams". I am a guitarist and this is a must for any guitarist. Everyone should hear this. Simply the best!!

Finding Hellecasters stuff in the UK's next to impossible so I shelled out $26 on an import. Worth every penny/cent. For my money, the likes of Vai, Satriani, Eddie VH etc would do well to invest in all Hellecasters albums to learn how to combine dazzling technique with great tunes, feel, tone and humour. 'Orange blossom special' in particular blows me away.Frankly, every guitarist poll in which these 3 aren't featured in the top 5 aint worth a hill of beans. Any one remotely interested in the guitar should get this, even if it makes you feel like giving up yourself. So, it's got no vocals. Who cares. Vocals are for bands/guitarists who cant play like this. E-S-S-E-N-T-I-A-L

One of the best CD's in my collection. It is a must for all guitarists. The fire and passion of some of these songs can't help but inspire you. I first heard "Highlander Boogie" on a sampler CD from Guitar Player Magazine. I was just blown away but the guitar playing.

The amazing thing is that they sound the same way live. I have heard them 3 or 4 times and they pull off the songs fairly close to the CD.

John Jorgenson has gone on to back up Elton John (left that band a little over a year ago). The other CD's that they have come out with are good but not as memerable.

Just listen to "Orange Blossum Special", which is usually a fiddle piece, but they pull it off. The technique that each of them has in incredable and they each complement what the other is doing.

I teach and recommend this CD to all of my students. Even the ones that are not into Country or Rock like the CD.
