5 out of 5 stars The ultimate in self-worship.......2005-01-19

How many groups could rise to notoriety on a string of 12" singles featuring trashy techno tracks with lyrics all about living life going the wrong way in the fast lane, release an album which is a collection of most of those 12" singles plus some additional material packed with sleaze and sneer, cheekily entitle the CD GREATEST HITS...and not only get away with it, but be absolutely right about the title?

Sheep On Drugs can do all this...and so much more.

"King" Duncan and "Dead" Lee have cut a serious swath through the techno and alt-rock scenes with their unmistakable in your face style of digital punk. And they did four more albums after this one. Can you handle it?

If you think you can...step up.

5 out of 5 stars This albim is fantanstic.......2003-11-11

I don;t know what the hell these other people are talking about. This album i would put in the top ten of all time record that i love. I listened to this album in my car when it came out for 5 months straight. Anyone looking to buy sheep on drugs should get this album. Forget what all these other loser say, and get this.

4 out of 5 stars A good sample.........2001-07-02

In my opinion, this is the only "Sheep On Drugs CD" that anyone will need. Their best stuff is on this CD, but their music is pretty uninteresting in general.

3 out of 5 stars Not a cut above, but certainly a cut........2000-04-14

Not swayed by Britty nostalgia, I'd say this is somewhat dated but still listenable. Its status well below the cutting edge is a deserving one, simply for the reason that there is better stuff out there in each of the sub-genres they supposedly span & blur. I question this album's ability to make one a believer if not already a blinded fan.

5 out of 5 stars Not Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad!!!.......1998-10-24

Sorry, I just had to do that. I am going to cut all the pretention, going on about the reasons of this albums greatness. It is just great. Really really good. And they are English, too. Whoever said you can't have too much of a good thing? Not goth, not techno, not industrial, not....anything really, but at the same time so very much. VERY, VERY good live, as well.

Album Description

Rave On Snow Volume 15 is compiled by 3 DJs, who let all their know-how and musical energy flow into this quintessential collection of contemporary minimal tech house and techno. Those responsible for this opus are none other than Gabriel Ananda, Pascal Feos and Domenic D'Agnelli!
Based on the top winter event, Rave On Snow in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Austria, this is the 15th time the Alps have been rocked. The combination of finest electronic music in all variations, an excellent line up of international DJs and live acts in an incredible snow-covered environment makes Rave On Snow a unique experience which luckily repeats itself on a yearly basis.

5 out of 5 stars No words for electronic dance this good.......2007-06-29

Damn, Dr. Trance is right again... now I'm probably going to have to get Rave on Snow 14 too!

5 out of 5 stars Another perfect entry in the Rave on Snow mix series........2007-05-22

This minimal and tech mix series that's now out once a year in coordination with the Rave on Snow winter sports festival in Europe. Stellar DJ's, snow boards, and hot tech house -- really wish I could attend these!! While number 14 had 4 DJ's splitting the two discs, we get all of Gabriel Ananda for disc 1 and Domenic D'Agnelli and Pascal Feos return for Disc 2. The set up behind what made 14 so astouding is back, as it's solid tracks of melodic minimal and tech house, never straying too hard into full out techno territory, and never sounding too housey, with just a smidgen of vocals thrown in here and there. Excellent line-up of tracks through both discs, with no stale spots.

What I also love about these last two releases is that they pick classy tracks which are not necessarily in the popular eye, and unlike some high profile electronic tracks, do not appear on 5 other comps or mixes out this year. Lots of obscure goodies found in both 14 and now 15, that won't be found anywhere else.

Another top notch mix from Pascal Feos's label. I also highly recommend picking up no. 14 and Pascal's artist CD, Synaptic.

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Something Great Gone Terribly Wrong.......2003-11-29

I LOVE the Reducers, I really do. And just about every necessary song you'd hope appears on this compilation. So what's the problem? Whoever mixed this CD did the Reducers a monumental injustice. The moment I put the CD in, I could tell that someone botched the job. The sound is muddy and the band's spirit doesn't shine through. I have tapes I recorded of this band off the radio on a crappy boom box that sound more vibrant! I have not heard the other Reducers CD's and any Reducers is better than none, but I believe I will be sticking with my vinyl LP's and hope that somehow this abomination is repaired. The band deserves it!

5 out of 5 stars Let's Go!.......2003-11-02

This is it. Without the major label backing of the british bands of the era, and without the critical huzzah's of bands like the Shoes, the Scruffs, etc., these 4 guys from New London were simply one of the best rock and roll bands of the early eighties. Not really punk, more post-New Wave, they remind one of the great lost British bands that appeared on Stiff like Wreckless Eric and Tenpole Tudor (check the cover's album for those references.) What they were more than anything was one of the greatest bar bands of all time, that's where I saw them along with on my college campus. I saw them right when it seemed like they might break. They didn't which is where this comes in. At their worst, they're a fun guitar rock band from a time when that had been subsumed by synths, punk, post-punk whatever. At their best, especially on tunes like Better Homes and Gardens and the phenomenal Let's Go, they were sublime. Long live the Reducers.

5 out of 5 stars They rock, pure and simple.......2003-05-05

Living in NYC, I got turned on to The Reducers in the mid-80s when WLIR used play the explosive "Let's Go." Screw Good Charlotte - "Let's Go" is a true anthem, right up there with "London Calling, Ghost Town, Radio Radio," and "What's So Funny `Bout Peace, Love and Understanding?" I recently convinced a friend to buy Redux; and when we put it on his stereo and cranked up the volume, he looked at me with widened eyes and said, "This rocks!" Thus has been the comment of anyone who has ever heard The Reducers. Indispensable for starting off mix tapes with a kick and a bang. And oh yeah, they were the first band to write an excellent pop-rock song called "Closing Time."

5 out of 5 stars It's about time they started offering one of the best of '06........2007-01-20

A whole year after this 2 disc set was first released in Germany, US Amazon finally decides to sell it. Lucky for those who weren't able to obtain it previously, it's now available for all to sink their teeth into one of the best minimal and techno mixes of the past year. It's a mix created by Pascal FEOS's Level Non Zero label, for the German snow sport festival called Rave On Snow. The Rave On Snow mix series was previously released by the German label More Music. Level Non Zero took over with number 14, apparently skipping the bad luck number 13, as More Music went up to Rave On Snow 12.

This one is mixed by 4 DJ's, each sharing half of each disc: Pascal FEOS, Dominic D'Agnelli, Chris Wood, and Björn Wilke. It's really hard to gain a preference for which DJ does the best job, as both CD's flow so well through great minimal tracks. Lots of rare tracks not found on any other comps/mixes like Patrick Chardronnet's Tricky, The Wighnomy Bros. remix of Pascal's I Can Feel That, and two other FEOS tracks, Ozone, and Seis O Seis (with Chris Wood). Trentemøller's track Kink, his only release on 3rd Floor Records, is also found here.

It's a very classy and upbeat minimal mix that's never a dull moment. It's hard to put a finger on why it does not sound like most other minimal mixes, but it may be the fact that they stay on the techno side of things, and you don't hear much tech house or electro creeping in like a lot of other mixes usually incorporate.

All I can say is do not wait any longer if you haven't picked this up yet. 15 has just been released, and thankfully, available here in a few weeks. I can't wait.

4 out of 5 stars What a Memory Rush!.......2005-08-04

I bought this in DC when it first came out and couldn't take it out of my Walkman for the longest time. I've since bought a used CD copy. The "first side" is superior, up to track 6 or 7; the "second side" goes off on too many tangents to be ultimately satisfying for me. Worth the price alone for "Give It Up" - this song, with its multitracked tribal drums, would raise the dead! Listening to it again brings me back to the early '90's.

4 out of 5 stars Give this one a chance.......2001-08-12

When I first put this title in my player, I was expecting some hard hitting Chicago-style ghetto house... The first track is excellent, with 2 & 3 moving a bit too slowly for me... Danny Campbell's "Together" track wore out my finger pressing the repeat button... Aside from a few spots where it sags, this is a classic way to start a party in your house.

Sheep on Drugs are one of the most brilliant and underrated groups in existence. If you can't find their "Greatest Hits" album-- or if you already have it and want more-- it's impossible to go wrong with One for the Money. Every song is a tiny nightmare in itself, extrapolating upon their usual themes of crime, money, sex, drugs, and every other vice plaguing the urban lifestyle. Did I mention this album comes with a particularly nifty insert? Worth your hard-earned filthy cash.

Sheep on Drugs has got to be the most overlooked band in existance today. The blend of psychotic discoslut ranting along with some of the best electronica produced today is a winning combo. Drums, drums, and more drums...This is one of those bands that layer their sounds so well that every time you listen, you hear something new. I'm still discovering new nuances in this, and every Sheep on Drugs album, even though I've been a fan since the mid 90's...If you do one thing for yourself this year (or ever), make it buying a Sheep on Drugs album, punter. Give Sheep on Drugs your hard earned cash before they come to your town, ...It'll be beautiful.

2 out of 5 stars Not worth it!.......1999-11-05

All the songs seem exactly the same. It sounds like progessive music was called progressive in the 80s. I would rather hear the singer not all at all. All I kept hearing was talking instead of singing. This music was not more fortay. I like listening to 80s and 90s rock and that surely was not it.
