TRY "18 HEARTBREAKING SONGS" OR "THE BEST OF TIMI YURO " THIS COMPILATION DOES NOT COMPARE TO SHOWCASING HER REAL TALENT AND WONDERFUL VOICE. GREAT CD PHOTO THATS ABOUT IT:((

5 out of 5 stars Idel.......2005-10-08

Timi Yuro never got the credit she deserved. She had one amazing voice;one of the greatest.Duane Thomas

5 out of 5 stars A GODDESS OF A SONGSTRESS.......2005-07-05

There is not a song that Timi could do injustice to. In the female world of song she is the equivalent of an Elvis Presley. Though deceased (3-30-2004), her voice and memory will live on through our appreciation of her talent. TIMI YURO....ALWAYS IN OUR THOUGHTS WITH ETERNAL HEARTFELT LOVE! YOU ARE OUR MELODIC ANGEL AND YOUR VOICE GRACES US DAILY. WE FEEL BLESSED.

5 out of 5 stars THE VOICE OF A LIFETIME~BRAVO TIMI YURO!!!.......2004-04-05

As the title implies, Timi Yuro's magnificant voice is comparable in its passion and greatness to the legendary Judy Garland. I would have loved to hear "The Voice That Got Away" do her magic on "The Man That Got Away" as it would have been as awesome as anything that Miss Yuro sung always was. Sadly Timi Yuro passed away at 62 years of age but she left behind soulful brilliance for us to enjoy such as this wonderful collection which has a generous amount of her brilliant classic "Something Bad On My Mind" which hopefully will see release soon on compact disc. Haunting and mesmerizing is the opening classic "Interlude" and one can immediately hear that this is going to be a total experience unlike any other. Timi's towering vocal on "I'll Never Fall In Love Again" makes this song a great classic and on Carole King's "Hey Boy" Timi goes deeper into this classic than ever before and the result is breathtaking. Soulful and glorious are the vocals throughout this incredible collection and "I Must Have Been Out Of My Mind" and "When He Wants A Woman" should have been #1 country hits as they are up there with the best of Patsy Cline without a doubt!! Where were the radio programmers of America when this classic "Something Bad On My Mind" came out in 1968? From this collection it is easy to see that "Something Bad On My Mind" contained WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN numerous chart toppers in the Pop, R&B, and Country areas plus the Adult Contemporary! This was a crime against an artist who is Legend and I believe she didn't try as hard after this happened. What is this country doing to real talent? Some soul searching is needed as this lady could really sing unlike anyone else!! Timi also composed the incredible "Wrong" here and this shows what could have continued if the industry would have cared and given support to a once in a lifetime classic. Get this great collection and see for yourself. God Bless You Timi...missing you alot

5 out of 5 stars Companion to The lost voice of soul.......2002-09-02

This was released following the success of The lost voice of soul, a 26 track compilation of Timi's finest recordings which I've also reviewed. Despite only being remembered for one hit, Timi recorded a lot of quality music, as this CD shows. There are no big hits here, since they were all included on the first CD and there is no duplication. There are a few obscure A and B sides plus a selection of album tracks.

If you are familiar with Timi's music, you will know what to expect. If not, you should start with the other CD or, better still, buy both together.

There are original songs here, but there are also great covers of It's just a matter of time (Brook Benton), I'll never fall in love again (Tom Jones), When something is wrong with my baby (Sam and Dave), Hallelujah I love him so (Ray Charles), I apologise (originally recorded by Bing Crosby in 1931 and revived by Billy Eckstine in 1951, but a sixties hit for P J Proby) - Timi's version was the B-side of Hurt so pre-dates P J Proby, All my love belongs to you (Little Willie John), If you gotta make a fool of somebody (an American hit for James Ray and a British hit for Freddie and the Dreamers) and I waited too long (LaVern Baker). There are only two country songs here, these being I just got back from there (Billy Walker) and When you were mine (Justin Tubb).

This is yet another brilliant Timi compilation from the good people at RPM. Unless some company releases a box set or a series of twofers, the 52 tracks on these two British compilations will remain the most comprehensive study of Timi's music on CD.

As no track listing is available at the time of this review, here it is :-

4 out of 5 stars These Nifty Nuggets Skirt the Sophmore Slump!!! (Mostly).......2004-10-06

The first volume of "Country Got Soul" touched off a sensation in the UK (it's a British import, hence the high price), and this is the first of several planned follow-ups (including one of entirely new material and a touring concert review). Naturally it won't pack the suprise whallop of the first volume, which reminded the public of a curious strain of blue-eyed swamp-funk that emerged in the late 60s for a hayday in the early 70s. Lynchpins included Eddie Hinton, Dan Penn, Bobbie Gentry, and Tony Joe White. Those are the most recognizable names, and they continue to be on this second volume.

Again, compiler Jeb Loy Nichols (a fine artist in his own right) trots out some miraculous obscurities: Sandra Rhodes' ace Supremes-gon'-funky "Sowed Love & Reaped The Heartache", songwriter Wayne Carson's version of his own "Soul Deep", and the absolutely revalatory "Harland County" by the super-mysterious Jim Ford. Those alone are worth the big bucks. More mainstream (relatively speaking) artists like Tony Joe White, Bobbie Gentrie, Eddie Hinton, and Townes Van Zandt fit in great, too.

There are a few mis-steps. Shirl Milete's take on Townes' "Big Country Blues" doesn't really go anywhere interesting, and the inclusion of a terrible, name-dropping, mechanical-sounding demo called "Muscle Shoals" by Donnie Fritts borders on inexcusable. It's that bad. Fortunately there's a new Dan Penn cut to cancel it out.

All in all, a more than worthy successor, with some really choice moments. If you see it, snag it.
