The last person to review this CD odviously has know idea. It is a great disc. As for the lack of number of phyical musicians on the disc, that is never a problem and makes for beautiful music and great feeling, and is made up for in raw talent (which that person odviously didn't have any of). If you buy this you will NOT be dissapointed.

I first discovered Ernie about 2 years ago, with his Fat Tuesday band. I instantly bought the CD and loved it! Since then, I have followed all the Ernie CD's. This one is a great example of how much emotion Ernie puts in his playing. If you've ever heard him live you notice how he can spend like 2 minutes singing all the parts simotainiously while counting the song off to convey the propper feeling the music should have, and thats what jazz is all about, isn't it? The feeling.

I haven't heard this CD yet, but I was told it features Ernie Krivda on the Sax and Dan Wall on the piano (instead of organ). No drume etc. They play as a duo on the album. Very plain sound !

Strictly for fans of traditional country music.......2005-01-24

Melba's biggest country hit came in the seventies with No charge, which is a song I've never been particularly keen on. However, Melba recorded plenty of great music in the sixties and seventies including three duet albums with George Jones and one with Gene Pitney. The duets with George included several country hits of which the most famous is We must have been out of our minds. None of the duets are included here.

Very little of Melba's solo music has ever been released on CD but her duets have been, though most are now out of print. This budget release is a rare chance to hear Melba singing solo although I see that this, too, is now out of print.

The songs here are mainly covers of songs made famous by others. It's not enough to satisfy Melba's fans but at least it serves as a reminder of just what a great singer Melba is. Her distinctive Alabama twang sets her versions of these old chestnuts apart from others.

I've got a few friends who are really impossible to shop for, basically because they buy everything they need themselves! CDs usually are good gifts for anyone, but I always like to go off the beaten path a bit and find ones no one else has heard of. Being someone who was a voice major in college, I check out the classical stuff every so often - and came across this CD. It's definitely a 'beginner' disc for classical music folk, but the cool thing was for NYC-ers like myself it's awesome to entertain with. I actually tried the Zucchini Cups recipe on another disc (bought 3 of the 4) and the recipe is surprisingly delicious.

Even if someone doesn't use 'em during an ACTUAL dinner, it seemed like a good and different (thank heavens for different!) bargain for music, learning how to prepare a good meal, and wine lessons!
