It is beyond me!!!!!!.......2006-11-30
I cannot understand why Bobbie never went further than she did. She has an AMAZING voice and all of her songs are great. I like the country that you can relate to and that is what you find when you listen to her! My favorite song is "I'm through waiting on you". The rest of them are favorites too!
Real Country Music Jewel.......2004-02-26
Caution: this CD is not "Nashcrap" - if countrypop is what you're after, pass on this release. On the other hand, if you're looking for real country music sung by an exceptionally talented artist, this recording should be part of your collection. Call it what you want - stone cold country, hard country, traditional, whatever; - there is no pretending here. Bobbie Cryner is the female version of George Jones or Vern Gosdin; every song on this CD carries the honest emotion always found in real country music; Bobbie's delivery stands equal to Tammy's, or Emmylou's, or Dolly's, and the songs "Too Many Tears Too Late", "I Think It's Over Now", "The One I Love The Most"; stand equal to "He Stopped Loving Her Today", and "If You're Gonna Do Me Wrong (Do it Right)". This CD is an overlooked country classic - there is no filler here. If you enjoy REAL country music, get this jewel while it is still somewhat available - you will not regret it.
Female Crooner.......2003-06-18
Bobbie Cryner should have been a superstar. This is by far the best female country cd in the last 20 years. Reviewers thought it was too dark - but for singing your heart out this is the one.

Girl of your dreams.......2006-06-27
THis is a great CD. Bobbie has a voice like no other. She is a very nice and beautiful person. Support Bobbie and you won't regret it. She is very down to earth and comes from a very loving family. Call your radio stations and get Bobbie on the air.
Perfect! (Really).......2004-12-21
Other reviewers have mentioned the tone of the music (much more traditional country than Faith Hill crossover stuff) and the songwriting (Cryner co-wrote a bunch of the songs and there are well chosen covers), but the star here is Cryner's voice. It's both powerful and subtle, understated but full. She captures the mood of the songs perfectly too. To open a CD with "Son of a Preacher Man" is gutsy, but she carries it off with a smoldering fire. Other songs such as the title cut, "You'd Think He'd Know Me Better," and "Nobody Leaves" she conveys the hurt perfectly. Lost love is a recurring theme. Between the writing and singing, what could have been teenage heartache, becomes mature adult heartbreak. It's hard to express in words how perfectly the emotional tone is nailed. Few albums in any genre do this better.
Quality traditional country music.......2004-04-30
Bobbie has been compared to several country greats but, unfortunately for her, she came along at the wrong time. Critics loved her music but American country radio wasn't interested because Bobbie didn't fit their play list formula. This album was not as raw and rugged as her debut, but still too traditional for radio.
Bobbie is a great songwriter - she wrote Real live woman for Trisha Yearwood and Stronger than I am for Lee Ann Womack - and wrote or co-wrote several of the songs on this album. Of the original songs, I particularly like Vision of loneliness, about a woman who, in the company of others, seems to have everything, but who actually doesn't.
There are a few covers too, including Son of a preacher man (Dusty Springfield), A lesson in leaving (Dottie West - since covered by Jo Dee Messina), I just can't stand to be unhappy (Baillie and the boys) and Oh to be the one (Greg Holland). Although Lorrie Morgan recorded a song titled I didn't know my own strength, the song here is completely different.
If you enjoy traditional country music, \Bobbie Cryner is worth a listen - if you get the chance.
The Direction Nashville Should Have Gone.......2004-04-26
Exceptionally talented and grossly negelected - Nashville seems more inclined these days to treat great country singers like Bobbie Cryner like yesterday's news. Bobbie's second release (on as many record labels) is different from her first in that it is not as nakedly traditional, but repeated listenings brought this reviewer to the opinion that the music here is the direction Nashville should have taken instead of heading down pop-rock lane in the mid-90's. "Girl of Your Dreams", "Vision of Loneliness", and "Nobody Leaves" are all thoughtful, honest, and mature country music (written or co-written by Bobbie) that measure up to anything on her first CD, albeit a half-shade more subtle and a hair more slickly produced. This release is truly worth the cut-out bin price you'll pay for it (if you can find it), and gives a peek at the quality country music Nashville can produce when not distracted by the latest trend or the almighty dollar.
definitely worth getting.......2003-04-12
