The justification for commercial country-pop is albums like this one. Ty Herndon never transcends the narrow soap-opera concerns of mainstream Nashville, but he has a great honky-tonk voice, full of throaty purrs and hard-bitten personality, and he has a sure ear for catchy melodies. Singing Jim Croce's "You Don't Mess Around with Jim," Hank Cochran's "Summer Was a Bummer," Vince Gill's "You Just Get One," and seven other numbers, Herndon milks the hooks of all their pleasures and lends the familiar romantic scenarios a real conviction. --Geoffrey Himes

This cd for a debut artist couldn't have been any better. It truly shines, and you discover a artist that doesn't come along very often. The title track, "What matters most", is one of the best songs I've ever heard in my life. Theirs plenty more also, like,"Summer was a Bummer", which Ty has said he wish would have been a single. The track, "You dont mess around with Jim", is best heard when he does it live in concert. His duet with Stephanie Bently is a great duet. Their all great songs and show a lot of soul and faith. Two songs to take note of are, "Love at 90 miles an hour", and, "Hat full of rain". "Love at 90 miles an hour", is one of the best songs to drive on the road too also. The song, "Hat full of rain", is such a moving song, it could be compared to Rascal Flatts song, "Im moving on". The song literally moves you, you can feel a cold chill in the air. There ended up being only 4 singles released from this including, "In your face", which is still good. But a lot of other songs from this could have done just as well as the 4 singles did on radio. Theirs not a bad thing to say about this album, I strongly urge you to purchase this, you'll find yourself listening to this all the time. As of today as I write this review, Ty Herndon has a total of 6 released albums, and their all gems. This release is one of the best of the 6. This is where it all started from the great career Ty Herndon has had, and still is having today.
