Lonesome Bob's sophomore disc spites its own title: some things may change, but Bob's considerable gifts as a country singer and songwriter aren't among them. His baritone will still shake any room to its rafters, his songwriting skills remain so sharp that even songs that might sound like novelty numbers ("Heather's All Bummed Out," "It'd Be Sad If It Weren't So Funny") can cut to the bone, and as on his 1997 debut, Things Fall Apart, he's accompanied by a talented posse of fellow Nashville rebels that includes angelic vocal foil Allison Moorer and fiery lead guitarist Tim Carroll. But where the earlier effort was just a collection of killer country songs, this disc is a more coherent album. Dedicated to Lonesome Bob's son Zachary, who died unexpectedly in 1998, Things Change moves through the anger and pain of the harrowing rock numbers "Where Are You Tonight?" and "Weight of the World" to the sorrow, acceptance, and hope of the ballads "In the Time I Have Left" and the title track. --Anders Smith Lindall

A Musical Treat.......2006-01-08
Yehudi Menuhin and Stéphane Grapelli together had made some of the most beautiful music ever-recorded. And I believe that this is one of the many successful albums they recorded together. In this recording, both violinists have showed their excellent musicianship and interpretative eloquence as well, making it one of my most cherished CDs from my collection.
These are the main ingredients of a perfectly-made CD for your listening pleasure: mix violins, piano, bass and drums together, combine two terrific violinists, season with the best melodies in the 20s, 30s and 40s from Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, Cole Porter and Rodgers & Hart. Add the musical talents of Nelson Riddle, Max Harris, Martin Taylor, Eddie Tripp, Alan Clare and the rest of the studio musicians. Now all you have to do is to sit back, relax and savor these stunning melodies coming from your CD player. Listen to it in full-volume and fill your music room with the sheer beauty of these classics.
One of my favorite musical instruments is violin. With its four strings, it gives a whole wide range of musical versatility and I simply love the fascinating sound it produces.
My personal highlights are the best tunes from Jerome Kern - "The Way You Look Tonight" (Nelson Riddle arranged this particular track and conducted the Woodwind and Brass section), "A Fine Romance," "Pick Yourself Up," "Why Do I Love You?" and "All The Things You Are."
My choices from Irving Berlin's gems are - "Isn't It A Lovely Day?" featuring the great artistry of Nelson Riddle in arranging and conducting, "Cheek To Cheek" and "I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm."
The Cole Porter repertoire represented his musical sophistication in "Night And Day," "I Get A Kick Out Of You" and "Just One Of Those Things."
The choice cuts from the talented and creative team of Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart are "My Funny Valentine" and "Thou Swell."
Listening to this CD is so delectable and equivalent to having my favorite dessert - be it Tiramisu, New York Cheesecake, Black Forest Cake, Chocolate Soufflé, Créme Brulee, Chocolate Mousse or Chocolate-Coated Strawberries! ;)
A musical treat.

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my god!!!!!!!!!!! .......2006-09-16
1994's "Burn My Eyes" was a tremendous album, and although it took three years until The More Things Change was released, Im sure it would have been worth the wait for early listeners (I wasn't a fan back then.)
The album opens with a classic, Ten Ton Hammer, and then it pummels your @$$ until the final song.
Although you won't find a Davidian on this album, it is still a classic in its own way.
The style of Machine Head sort of evolved after "Burn My Eyes". This album certainly had songs a lot darker then all of the songs on the debut album, it also became a lot more punishing and heavier, although some of the songs on Burn My Eyes were a hell of a lot heavier than some of the songs on this album.
Ear bleeders such as "Blood for Blood" on the first album are still present here such as "The Frontlines" and "Ten Ton Hammer".
I disagree with the person who said that "The Burning Red" is better than this album. I believe that some of the songs were OK, but many were cruddy. That was Machine Head's worst album, but people can have their own opinions definatetly.
Anyway, after reading this review you will go to the nearby music
store and BUY THIS ALBUM. QUICKLY!!!!!!

The More Things Change, The More Machine Head Starts Losing Their Edge.......2006-04-23
What makes the venerated 'Burn My Eyes' so great is its blend of quiet, slow, melody and loud, fast, aggressive thrash. This album tries to follow in that same vein, but unfortunately it falters a bit. It's mostly that the songs aren't as catchy as they are on its predecessor for whatever reason. My theory is that the guitar riffs are a bit more nu-metal sounding.
What can also be said is that 'The More Things Change...' is more divided. More of the songs either don't possess that same melodic/speed blend of 'Burn My Eyes,' or the song (e.g. 'Violate') presents a false sense of climax building. It's only when the song is near end that it becomes apparent that there isn't much of the aggressive rush as there was in songs such as in 'Burn My Eyes.'
Though not as compentate as its predecessor, this album still isn't bad. There are certainly memorable songs such as 'Spine,' 'The Frontlines,' 'Ten Ton Hammer,' and 'Struck a Nerve' (at least the first half.) If you don't already have 'Burn My Eyes,' then you'd be wise to get that album before considering this. If you're looking for material sort of in the same vein, then this is your best bet, as Machine Head's other releases have drifted too far from their original style (though some of it is still decent.)
yeah so.......2006-03-16

Album Description
Rick Davies, Bob Siebenberg, Mark Hart and John Helliwell re-formed Supertramp with a number of anonymous studio musicians in 1997 to record and release Some Things Never Change, their first album in ten years. And the title is correct, nothing much has changed within Supertramp's world; they're simply churning out the same sophisticated jazzy, lite-funk-inflected pop as they did in the mid-'80s.Album Details

Superlative Supertramp.......2007-01-08
Yes, gone are the trite little singles of Breakfast in America. Instead, the band expands its reach, weaving a lavish musical tapestry of many scintillating instrumental threads. There's an echo here of the beautiful studio jamming of Supertramp's vastly under-rated first album. Some reviewers (All-Music Guide, shame on you) have taken this as a sign that Supertramp 'can no longer create catchy little songs.' Hey, maybe they've simply evolved beyond that sort of silliness. The tracks on Some Things Never Change sound at once familiar, yet fresh and new. But where earlier works tended to stop short, these go on, achieving their jazzy, mesmerizing potential in a full five, six, or nine minutes.
Bands move on; if you trust their vision, then you have no choice but to follow where they lead. The reward is discovering unexpected gems like this one.

Excellent!!.......2006-02-23
It is an awesome album. This must surely be one of their quality wise most consistent albums!
Indeed, this is a (re)new(ed) Supertramp... and what an improvement at that! If someone would have said this is a new group I'd have said it is a crossover between Steely Dan and Supertramp.
A recipe for high quality, terrific sounding music, if you ask me.

Pretty Good Album.......2005-11-28
The songs are a little shorter than the originals, but still manage to be pretty good. It's amazing what they've done with just a few classic instruments and no synthesizer. The mood of the songs are a little different from the album, it's not so much "night" music, as it is... classic. You can picture yourself eating in a brightly lit, fancy French cafe with this music in the background, rather than being at a club or on the streets at night.
The only problem is that the music lacks a certain amount of energy, which was present on the original album.
I would still reccomend this CD to anyone who likes classical music and the Killers.

Wonderful voice, interesting lyrics, but..........2003-04-08
And on the track "In The Time I Have Left", the last word of the chorus is repeated OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER again for what seems like 15 minutes (more like 1 minute, really, but it DRAGS). It just seems like poor song structuring to have it run on and on like that.
I really like his voice, though, and he recruited Allison Moorer, possibly THE most under-appreciated singer of modern times, to contribute backing and harmony vocals on most of the tracks. So Bob definitely gets high marks for that.

Simply Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!.......2004-01-04
Sheer vocal excellence!.......2003-11-18
Fans of Mark's humor won't be disappointed. His self declared foray into rap tells the story of David in "Too Big To Miss". "I Wanna Go To Heaven" showcases Woody Wright's clever lyricism and Mark's vocal versatility as he handles all four parts of this "quartet".
The other quartet showcase in this package is "I'll Trade the Old Cross For A Crown", featuring three-fourths of a past Gaither Vocal Band incarnation (Mark, Bill Gaither, Michael English) with Reggie Smith handling the tenor part. Mark also successfully recalls the style of the Singing Rambos, joined by Kim Lord and Amber Franks of LordSong on Dottie Rambo's "I Call Him Lord."
Though "Make It Real" is pulled from the Gaither Vocal Band "I Do Believe" album to include on this release, its message remains as powerful and could see some new life should it be viewed for crossover possibility.
"Some Things Never Change" will hopefully earn Mark some additional respect as a vocalist as well as a humorist. It's hard to imagine not taking notice of a voice like his.

Album Description
Constant Flux, aka Douglas Rimerman, is part of the burgeoning IDM scene in the United States. With his fresh take on the electronic music paradigm married with visual art performances, Constant Flux has already enjoyed radio airplay on L.A.'s influential KCRW 89.9 FM and KXLU 88.9 FM, and a series of live performances at multi-media art exhibitions throughout L.A. Constant Flux recently performed live at Late Night at LACMA, an art opening event at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art with a club-like atmosphere that also featured KCRW's Jason Bentley. This event was attended by more than 900 people. More recent performances include a musical benefit for the people of Nigeria titled Aquarium hosted on March 19 at the Atlas Supper Club on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles as well as a show on April 20 at Roam Design Gallery in the artist district of Los Angeles for a multi-media art event called Urban Surfaces. The live setup for the Urban Surfaces performance was unique in that Doug and visual performance art partner Yo Suzuki were setup on a 12-foot by 10-foot platform suspended from the roof 12 feet above the ground by one high-strength cable at each of four corners of the steel and wood platform. Large gaping holes in the platform floor permitted onlookers to see up through the bottom and view visuals projected straight up towards the ceiling. On March 3, 2002, Doug was invited to perform six tracks as constant flux live on KXLU 88.9 FM. The one-hour spot went so well that he was asked to perform at KXLU again June 2002 and also to play at Cyberstock in the Summer of 2002 (date to be announced), an new electronic music in Southern California.Customer Reviews:
