Customer Reviews:
Good album by a pre-solo Don Williams.......2005-11-17
This reissue adds Don Williams' name in front of the band name to capitalize on his solo success, but other than that and the crappy LD logo in the top left, the front cover art is identical to the original LP. However, some people do get confused by seeing Spend Some Time With Me on the front and seeing The Little Darlin' Sounds Of Don Williams on the side of the cd case.
There is actually one bonus track on this cd that was not on the original lp, and that is of the song Tears. The original album mixes of the songs are on this cd (apparently the entire cd is dubbed from vinyl, including the bonus track which was first issued on a budget lp in the late 1970's), which is a little surprising to me, since other Little Darlin' cds contained remixes with different instrumentation (which obviously means that some master tapes did still exist for some of this label's material) and track orders as well.
Some of my favorite songs on this album include their version of Always Something There To Remind Me, Spend Some Time With Me, Comin' Apart and Strawberry Fields / Something which is actually the group singing two Beatles songs at the same time. This cd is recommended to any Don Williams / Pozo Seco Singers fan, you will not be disappointed with these songs at all, and I believe that their version of Always Something There To Remind Me will grow on you as it has on me...the only thing I have to complain about is the fact that vinyl was used to source the cd. both Koch and Aubrey Mayhew should've done their best to locate the original master tapes for this cd (so i deduct one star for that fact only). Noise reduction is not very heavy so the music is still very enjoyable.
