Way beyond BOYBAND are...........2007-06-09
I've enjoyed the Moffatts's music since they were kids. It's been great watching them grow up, and following to their developing musical sophistication. This is the Moffatts "Comming of Age" album, and it's music will stand the test of time. The Moffatts were never some fake "boyband" put together by some fat gay bald guy and sold to music industry mogals like a blue plate special. No--the Moffatts were the REAL thing, and always their own true originals. This CD is must have for any contemporary collection as far as I'm concerned, an enjoyable listen over and over again.
A good change.......2005-04-18
I'm sorry to hear that today, the guys have broken up. But I can understand because they were the typical brothers going throug the typical changes. You could obviously tell as they grew that they were going through changes because their music changed and evolved. This is a great album. I am more into the more rock and roll and deep songs like "Just another phase" "antifreeze and aeroplanes" "Spy" and "Destiny" because they dig into these guys emotions and they played great rock and roll in these songs. I love "antifreeze and aeroplanes" because the bridge just goes through a total change and adds flavor to the song. (Especially with Clint's great bass playing and Scott's vocals that blend in with him saying "falling" over and over again). But my absolute favorite song is "Spy". I love the bass line, the guitar, the drums, and Dave's interesting keyboard effects. Clint's bass solo definitely is the best part of that song. I give this album 4 stars and not 5 because i saw these guys perform live and their music sounds 10 times as better than on c.d. I wish they sound on c.d how they sound live. These guys were great musicians at a young age who grew up in front of the world. I don't see why everyone compares them to hanson. The Moffatts were better musicians and vocalists. Their music was on a totally different and more mature page. The only comparison is the fact that these two bands were brothers. Because Hanson sucks
Evolution..........2004-07-15
I (being an extreme teeny bopper at the time) bought this C.D the day it came out. I was surprised. It wasn't at all like their previous C.D (or C.Ds, rather). Clearly, the Moffatts had evolved. For obvious reasons, seeing as how so much changed when you're a teenager, including music. The vocals, lyrics, and instrument playing on this C.D far outshines that on Chapter 1. Everything is a bit more mature. And this C.D has a great mix. It's not like they went totally heavy metal to prove themselves the anti-boyband. They've got a couple of boybandish ballads on it in fact, but they're really good. It's for those who like pop, rock, alternative, soft rock, and oldies. It's as though they've combined all of these styles to form one amazing C.D. I miss them! I'm sure whatever other C.Ds they may have put out would've been as great as Submodalities.
Anyways, this C.D, remains to this day 4 years later, one of my favorites.
The Moffatts Prevail.......2003-09-23
Their best album by far. I own it and I love it - the first one I had got so worn out (literally) that I had to get a new one. And believe me, it is worth every penny. If you haven't gotten this yet- DO IT! What are you waiting for? The rock sound mixed with a new twist on pop lyrics are a must for everyone.
Boypop what?.......2003-08-28
I seriously dig this album. I mean, of course I do, I *love* teenybopper pop. C'mon. Remember what a cute sixteen-year-old Scott Moffatt was, with the mess of brown and blond hair? Of course you do. On Submodalities, The Moffatts have finally gone beyond having the words "Love" and "Crazy" in all their song titles, and the melodies are complex and pretty while the lyrics have a sometimes introspective, sometimes tongue-in-cheek tone. Submodalities is a nice growing-up album for the boys. Too bad they "broke up." Ah well. You can still drive to their music, and you can't exactly say that for everyone.

Unexpected.......2002-01-20
I am one of those people who is totally against boybands and meaningless drivel music, but when my friend (who's into Hanson, BSB, Britney and the rest) played me Chapter 1, the moffatts' earlier album, I was hooked. I became a bigger fan than her! I bought Submodalities right away and it only made me like the guys' even more with a sound more like the other bands I listen to. They have some great lyrics (no more "girl" or "babe" or any junk like that) and definite true musical talent. I like every single song on this album, with favorites: Just Another Phase, I Don't Want You To Want Me, California, Typical (kinda mean, but cool), and of course, Spy. I have listened to this cd at least once a day since I got it last summer. It is too bad that the guys aren't together anymore so I never got to see them tour, but their music is incredible. However, if you like the Moffatts, you may want to be on the look out for the band Pusch, which has two of the Moffatt brothers (Clint and Bob) in it along with two guys who broke from another Canadian band, 3 hour midnight.
They blew me over.......2001-04-17
I remember a few years back I was watching TV when a commerical came on. It was of a country CD from 4 boys. As I listened to the clips of the songs they played; one tune and a line of the lyrics stuck out. It was "The nights will burn like never before" I just loved it and memorized it. I also remember Catipeller Crawl. I never got the CD. Then later in 1999 their song Misery came out and I loved it. I didn't know these where the same boys I saw on the commerical a few years back. Well in 2000 I went and bought their CD, Chapter 1: A New Beginning. I loved it. I even went online and found info on them. I found out they they were brothers. Three of them were triplets and two of the triplets idencial twins. Well late in 2000 after a few months of not listening to them I started to again when I hard they had a new album out. It was not released here in the US. So I downloaded the songs online. I loved them all. It was defintly their best album yet. Then later I relized that these where the same boys I saw on that commerical. The tune and words came back to me and I finally found out the name, Guns Of Love. Submodalites is a great CD and if you are a Moffatt fan or just a rock fan this is the album you should get. It shows how much true talent they have. I do not have the CD yet, but ordered just yesterday. I will be getting it soon. US radio stations and TV need to listen to these guys. They aren't just pop or country anymore. They're not even a boyband. They are much more. I grantee if they just listen they would give them the respcect they deserive and many more people would become fans. They would be a huge hit. Just give them a chance. I'm a huge fan now and they are one of my most favorite band of all time. You won't be disapointed.
Its an AMAZING album !!!!! ;).......2001-03-30
The Moffatts have been absent from the UK's music industry for some time.Their last release "Misery" was in October 1999, and it didn't do well at all.
I've ADORED them since 1998 and have been dying for this album to be released in the UK! I couldn't wait that long though so I bought it from Canada and I was so amazed when I played it. "Submodalities" -their new album has definitely brought a whole new look and sound to The Moffatts; they are no longer the pop rock/gentle sound they were before.
This album has lots of different sounds and structures-with help from Bob Rock who produced this album. I totally love this album and can't stop playing it. I like it because each song is different and unique and Dave,Clint,Scott and Bob take it in turns to sing leads (although Clint and Bob only sing one lead each). Each track displays a lot of hard work and time getting the pieces for the song together. Each song blasts you away with quality music and pure talent. Just when you try to catch a breath, 2 hidden tracks boom out of your speakers showing a different sound once again. If you're thinking this album will be like Chapter I: A New Beginning (their last album) then you are totally wrong. If you compared Chapter I, with Submodalities you'd think each album was done by two different artists!!
Submodalities is extremely different to Chapter I which was more poppy. The Moffatts said Chapter I was "more pop music than anything but that's what we liked at the time and Submodalities is to show the change and express our new sound."Submodalities actually means anything to do with a visual change of image. This album has "amped-up-guitars,lush Brit-rock textures and a sometimes soft sometimes squalling sonic adventurousness!
This album will demolish any [...] preconceptions you have had about The Moffatts and you'll look at them in a different light. Scott, Clint, Bob and Dave's voices blend so well together and so smoothly that it's something which can only be achieved by brothers.
This CD should be in everyone's collection!!! Forget what you've heard about them before, BUY THIS!! You won't be disapointed!!
Its quality music by extremely talented guys.
My favourite album of all !!.......2000-12-28
I recomend the people to check out this song, SPY cos it's my favourite and it sounds more mature than any of their songs ! The people should really see The Moffatts as real musicians right now !
Awesome CD.......2000-12-25
This isn't my account, it's my bro's. I just got this CD. The Moffatts have matured GREATLY in this album. It's got a bit of English rock mixied into it. It's not all poppy love songs. It's more along the lines of "frustration" and "Over the Rainbow" than Girl of My Dreams and such. The lyrics are more diverse and so are the topics. It is the best cd they have made yet.
