Kicking Back might be a more apt title for the low-key collaboration of these fellow trailblazers in country rock and bluegrass. As on their previous two CDs, Tony and Larry Rice, Chris Hillman, and Herb Pedersen bask in classic song craft and sunny vocal harmonies, this time supplementing traditional bluegrass instrumentation on some tracks with steel guitar and drums for a bit of honky-tonk kick. Their repertoire travels from L.A. (Stephen Stills's "4 + 20") to Bakersfield (Buck Owens's "Take Me Back Again") to Tennessee (the Louvin Brothers' "You're Running Wild") to Liverpool (Lennon and McCartney's "Things We Said Today"). This kind of mixed song bag has become commonplace in bluegrass, especially in the wake of Alison Krauss, but these guys have been at this for four decades now, and it shows. Only one track, Larry Rice's unfortunate ballad of JonBenet Ramsey ("The Mystery That Won't Go Away"), falls flat. Otherwise, all is smooth picking and sweet singing from four musicians with nothing to prove. --Jeffrey Pepper Rodgers

4 out of 5 stars An unfortunate CD release.......2006-07-24

While this 13-track original score is largely incomplete and (as many have commented) full of the more useless cues; stuff we could do without, there is a 34-track bootleg floating around. I don't know how to get a hold of it, but it's circulating through the internet, giving David Newman the true audio release he deserved for one of his best musical efforts.

1 out of 5 stars Pointless.......2005-10-06

Why have a soundtrack that has all of the songs people don't care about? Basically this cd has all the background music that you never notice and quite frankly don't care about. Most of you who want to buy this cd is the same reason why you would buy any other, because it has one or two (very rarely three) songs that you want to get. The song that you are probably looking for is when the three of them with the baby are walking to the peak (where they ride in the ice caves) togather. It's called "Send Me On My Way" by Rusted Root. Hope that helps

I would like to thank everyone for listing the song Send me on my way. I was specifically looking for this song and did expect it to be on the CD. So thank you all for looking out for the other people interested.

1 out of 5 stars Song not on CD.......2004-04-26

To those of you interested in this CD in lieu of finding the "songs with lyrics" in the movie ICE AGE, got bad news for you. They are NOT here! I really do hate it when a soundtrack is put out for a movie and they don't include the best or features songs in the movie. Anyway, the song that pretty much everyone wants when Manny, Sid, Diego and the baby are together and walking towards Half Peak is called "Send Me On My Way" by Rusted Root. It is on their latest album "When I Woke". Put Rusted Root in the Amazon search engine and you should find it. Hope this helps those looking for this song.

4 out of 5 stars Bluegrass For Boomers.......2003-04-15

Don't let the law office name fool you. Rice, Rice, Hillman & Pedersen is a bona fide supergroup whose collective resume reads like a who's who of bluegrass, New Grass and country rock. California natives Chris Hillman and Herb Pedersen and transplanted brothers Larry and Tony Rice have been seeding bluegrass and its many permutations with a Left Coast vibe since the early Sixties and paid their dues with the likes of The Byrds, The Dillards, The Flying Burrito Brothers, The Dave Grisman Quartet and J. D. Crowe and the New South, among others. As RRH&P, these not-ready-for-retirement baby boomers make fit and trim, confident, middle-of-the-road bluegrass that goes down easy and respects its roots.

The old dogs have some new tricks to show off, too. Beatle songs done bluegrass style are old hat these days, but RRH&P's cover of Lennon/McCartney's semi-obscure mid-tempo ballad "Things We Said Today" is brave and inspired. Bucking tradition, RRH&P have the audacity to slow the song down, flaunting Larry Rice's achingly wistful vocal and instruments that drip with longing and loss. The gamble works brilliantly. This is one of the best Beatle covers, bluegrass or otherwise, I've ever heard.

The voice of sentimental favorite Herb Pedersen - a sunny, friendly tenor that I like to call the "Hi, lonesome" sound - is unmistakable on "Two of a Kind" and Buck Owen's "Take Me Back Again". He also teams with Chris Hillman to produce lush "brother harmonies" on many cuts. Pedersen's sojourn with The Dillards on their essential albums "Wheatstraw Suite" and "Copperfields" had monumental impact, and it's gratifying to see he's still teaching the angels to sing. (He's no slouch on the banjo, either.)

Not to pick on Larry Rice, an excellent mandolinist with an appealingly old-time country voice, but the album could do without two of his compositions. "About Love" is maudlin, overlong and out of tune with the rest of the record, but "The Mystery That Won't Go Away" is without question the album's nadir. I wish I were kidding, but "Mystery" is a creepy elegy for murdered child Jon-Benet Ramsey, matching an unaccountably sprightly melody with earnest lyrics that are laugh-out-loud funny in their absurdity. When looking for folk heroes to enshrine in song, bluegrass ought never to turn to the tabloids.

5 out of 5 stars Pure harmony, classy production, great songs.......2002-08-29

This is pure harmony close to Everly quality, coupled with great song selection and writing, and sterling production. It's work that deserves much more attention and should not be missed by anyone who likes bluegrass with an updated sound. Chris Hillman's writing and lead singing are particularly excellent.

5 out of 5 stars country and blegrass fusion.......2002-02-20

How unfair have been the previous reviews. All right, it is not the same Rice Rice Hillman and Pederson sound you have been exactly used to with the two previous releases, but man, it is even more exciting!! The opening track is enough to introduce you to the unusual california sound of a bluegrass band. For those who both like mountain music and the west coast sound of the seventies (CSN, Poco, America...) here is a great recording with sunny vocals for the road.

3 out of 5 stars running empty ?.......2002-01-07

have to agree with jim
maybe this team has run out of gas. out of the woodwork is a 5 star CD and the second album down to 4 stars. maybe they better quit while they're ahead. this is laid back country for the most part, more instruments than previously but less stand out touches - even Tony Rice's normally fluid solos have dried up a bit and the material is less than inspired. nothing new here - i'll go back to tim o'brien's brilliant new Two Journeys for inspiration.

2 out of 5 stars Too much steel!.......2002-01-06

Well, for me, their first album was everything I could ever ask for; and the second, well, just an average bunch of songs BY COMPARISON - still wonderful, though. On the plus side, Running Wild does have some interesting tunes; but the additional instrumentation, the steel and electric guitars in particular, is really irritating. Sometimes forget to listen for Tony, it's so overwhelming. Still an amazing four acoustic musicians.

4 out of 5 stars Mmmm, German metal the way it's supposed to be.......2006-01-11

Some find German metal a bit too Teutonic. But when it's this furious who cares. The first four tracks will pretty much take your head off and put it back on again for you. Sure, it may be facing the wrong way but at least that way you'll be able to see the licence plate of the truck that just ran over you!

Riding the Storm, Renegade - this is great metal. Sure by side two (in the old terminology) some of it gets a little unhinged but Bad to the Bone which was the lead single is a bit hard to go past. And don't forget to read the lyrics too as with this band they can sometimes add to the fun.

Running Wild didn't make many good albums - but don't let anybody tell you they didn't make at least one. And here it is!

5 out of 5 stars An essential German metal release.......2004-11-18

Running Wild's last two releases were good, but this release is just plain amazing! When it comes to quality German speed metal, you can't get much better than this. Amazing riffs, blazing fast guitars, and tight drums all aided by the wonderful vocals of Rock 'N' Rolf. It seems with each release the band keeps getting better and better making this arguably their best album. Thats arguably because Black Hand Inn and Masquarade are also contenders for that postion. One of the best, if not the best track, has to be the opener Riding the Storm with its haunting intro. The guitar work is just superb proving that Rolf is easily one of the most underrated guitarists in the genre. The track Bad to the Bone also porduced the bands second and last music video. The tour was also one of the bands most successful and they even recorded one of their shows for home video release. You haven't seen how good Rolf and the gang are until you have seen them playing these complex guitar structures live! If the album weren't great enough alone, the new remastered version also contains the entire Wild Animal EP as bonus tracks. For die-hard fans its a must because the Wild Animal EP up till this point was almost impossible to find. One song that was included on that EP was a remake of the silly metal anthem Chains & Leather, a song in its original form appeared on the bands sophmore album Branded & Exiled.

4 out of 5 stars A piece of R.W history........2001-08-14

DEATH OR GLORY :

This is Running Wild the year 1989 before the formation got their modern/sensational line up during the period 1992-98. Back in 89' there was ( besides the frontman Rolf ) ; Jens Becker , Majk Moti and drummer Ian Finlay.

The songs are not as complex and fast as R.W:s later albums ( Masquerade,BHI or Pile of Skulls ) and the production is not 100 % flawless , but on the other side not bad either. Production and mixing are tending to sound a little hollow and I am sure that the album would have got a radical improvement regarding clarity and bass depth if Rolf Kasparek himself would arrange the production - which is the case on the later R.W albums.

Those of you who have heard R.W:s wellknown speedmetal-like drum-sound from the abovementioned albums should be warned ; the drumming by Ian Finlay on DOG is good - but not anywhere near the wizardry of Jörg Michaels thunderspeeding drum attacks on Masquerade or BHI.

In spite of these factors DOG is still a tremendous R.W-album ; The catchiness and melodic elements of these songs will bring great enjoyment to all you who appreciate european powermetal. Great riffing and singing throughout ( almost ) all the record. The only objections from my point of view would be the tracks " Renegade " and " Bad to the Boone ". Albeit having interesting lyrics both are some notches below R.W:s capabilities in terms of melody and energy. On DOG you also will find R.W:s most wellknown singalong anthem ever - " Riding the Storm ". This particular tune will literally take you by storm ( no joke intended ). When the pre-corus and refrain comes blasting you will feel a uncontrolable urge to raise your voice in participation. Other hightlights include " Running Blood " , " Marooned " ( mighty man bass choir will make you shiver ..... ) and the epic arrangement of " Battle of Waterloo ". Rolfs voice is enjoyable - even if his singing has improved notably during the R.W-albums of the 90's. The backing vocals are also very well sung and powerful , especially on " Riding.... " and "Marooned". As the songtitles indicate ; this is another of R.W:s pirate-lyrical compositions describing naval battles, rumdrinking seadogs and flaghoisting shipmates. Those of us who listen to R.W for that reason will love it. If you by chance feel that songtexts should reflect love relations, or party hedonism you should avoid this exciting CD and buy something less dramatical ( preferrably the horrid music from Poison or Aerosmith ) By this I must oppose against the older review below. To say that the lyrics are less than serious is not correct , they are very serious. This is proven by the fact that R.W have not left their "sea romancing" style beginning on their older albums from the late 80's and up until today ( with exception of their latest CD " The Victory " - which is a rather untypical R.W performance in many ways and has created a lot of mixed emotions among the older fans. )

If someone really think that sentimental texts belongs within the tradition of power metal ( which they do not ! ) he would disagree with me. Otherwise there is no choice but to commend Rolf and his squad for this impressing effort. Many of the songs are clearly designed in the vein of typical R.W powermetal with a ability to invade your head and memory because of their incredible catchiness and melodic drive. If you have not heard R.W before and really want to play it safe I would recommed you to begin your acquaintance with the hanseatic pirates ( they hail from the north german town Hamburg ) in Running Wild through their creme de la creme / masterpieces : Pile of Skulls or Masquerade. That does not mean that DOG is anything other than great - it is regardless a very wellwritten and pleasing piece of power metal in the classical german style.

5 out of 5 stars great album!.......2000-05-31

superb effort from the german metallers! great sense of melody & very good riffs!

4 out of 5 stars Great Music.......1999-11-28

This album was a pleasant surprise. This band is very tight and very melodic. They don't seem to have high art in mind, but they have a lot of fun writing concise power/ heavy rock songs. And the fun atmosphere truly comes through. Not deep by any stretch of the imagination, but a great, almost guilty, pleasure.

2 out of 5 stars The start of an upward trajectory.......2006-02-22

The good bits - Branded and Exiled itself, title track and heavy metal monster, laying down a vicious artillery barrage in preparation for the assault onto the listener. The next good bit, the somewhat diverting Mordor - which alas is in the middle of the album after proceedings have been stunted by a few densely constructed wedges of proto-metal. The third and last ray of sunshine is a lumbering tune that closes out the album - Chains and Leather. Presumably the band have a sense of humour to do a song like this and when your final song on a disc is this cool, well it makes a punter be somewhat forgiving of the lead weighted metal they have staggered through to get to it.

This is a band that eventually grew up and away from music this dense, preferring a more cutting technique which allows the songs to breath more. But that came later.

3 out of 5 stars a "bridge" album from satan to pirate.......2005-03-04

Branded and Exiled basically is an album that acts like a bridge of the band of the old to the band of the new. The production is slightly better than their debut Gates to Purgatory, but only slightly. The production is still very rough but it somehow adds to the albums charm. Running Wild did drop most of the cheesy hell/satan lyrics. I said mostly as the catchy song Chains and Leather contains a few chuckling lyrics. The lyrical themes are actually more mature and resemble the lyrical nature of their album Under Jolly Roger to come after this. This album is a transition from their satan/black metallish debut to the speedier Pirate metal to come. That said, the album isn't a jaw dropper, but it does have some fist pumping metal anthems namely the title track and Mordor. Fans of the band will no doubt find something to like, but passive fans and people new to the group are better off finding another album to purchase instead.

Okay I Will Go On The Record Right Now And Say That Lyrics About The Devil Bother Me. (Even Though Black Metal Is Awesome. I Feel That The Concept Is Overdone Etc... But Anyway That Brings Me To The Point Of This CD. It's Lack Of Pirate Metal Makes it A Failure For The Running Wild Catalouge, However It Is A Definite Power Metal Classic.

There Is No Denying The Musical Awesomeness Of This CD, The Opening Track Is Probably The Best On The CD. Speedy Like A Bullet And Rolf's Vocal's Never Sounded So Hungry. Most Of The Tracks Continue In This Speddy Vain Expect Preacher Which Is A Slower Heavyer Power Metal Ballard.

Also I Wanna Marvel At How Well Noise Records Shined Up This CD All Nice And New And Tried To Ignore The Satanic Lyrics Seeing As They Are Not In The Booklet And The Of The Bonus Tracks Are Not Givin. One Final Note I Will Say The Albums Only Real Weak Point Is The God Awful Production on Walpurgis Night.

For Running Wild Die Hards Only

3 out of 5 stars Running Wild's debut is catchy, but weak.......2004-11-14

Running Wild's debut...oh let's say...is either one of their weakest if not their weakest release. First of all, they lack their trademark pirate image here. So if your expecting some rip roaring pirate style speed metal, then you are going to be disappointed. They actually have more of a black metal image on this release with lyrics about none other than Satan himself. It's basically Satan this, pentagram that...you get the drift. These lyrics seemed very immature and downright silly at times. I can't blame the band for taking the more dangerous black metal approach at first because that metal subgenre was very popular at the time with the rising fame of Venom (a black metal band I do like) and other such bands, but I'm glad they would drop the hell/satan lyrics not long after this. The production is also very rough and the guitars arn't nearly as fast as they would later become. That said, I do have to say that the songs have some good beats and they are quit catchy. The track Prisoner of our Time is actually one of my all time favorite Running Wild songs and it is still a staple in the bands live performances to this day. Rock N' Rolf's vocals are also interesting as he has a much thicker German accent present here. For fans of Running Wild, this album is a must, but for passive fans or for someone just getting into the band, your better off purchasing some of the bands later albums such as Death or Glory, Black Hand Inn, or Masquarade.

The CD release contains two bonus tracks: Walpurgis Nights and Satan, which was a nice surprsise. The tracks arn't listed on the insert, but they are on the CD itself. My one complaint is that the song Walpurgis Nights cuts off on the end. I'm not sure if that error is damage to the original recording or if its its a glitch on the making of the CD, but it is quit annoying. Just don't be surprised by it if you buy this disc

1 out of 5 stars Miserable sounding collection of mutilated old songs.......2006-09-25

It would be a huge understatement if I said how passionately I hate this disgusting collection of old songs that have been mutilated and buthered to death by digital technology and a band leader who hasn't that something which is not broken should not be fixed. First the CD itself: it epitomizes everything which is wrong with modern CDs: LOUDNESS. I had to use the output level control of my CD player to reduce the output by 10 db before I could find a comfortable volume level with my amplifier. The CD is disgustingly loud beyond belief. The second you hit play the music hits you like a brick. This is apparently the new style of metal. To hell with sound quality, just make it louder. Tone deaf metal heads will not care. The songs have been compressed to hell and back. There is ZERO dynamic range. There is no seperation between the instruments. The sound is digitally sterile, lifeless, flat and one-dimensional. I got ear-fatigue after listening for only two minutes.

Now for the songs: each and every single one of them sounds worse than the original versions. What was Rolf Kasparek thinking? Did he really think in his screwed up mind that he was improving the songs by simply adding new rhythm guitar tracks or new bass lines? The man has a screw loose. There is nothing new. The songs have simply been made louder, drums have been pushed back in the mix in alot of places and it just sounds like one big huge mess. There is no balance between the instruments. Stay far away from this disaster of a best-of collection. If you are a tone deaf metal head who just wants to drink beer, bang your head and have fun, go ahead and buy this. For anyone else: stay far away.

5 out of 5 stars all you need in one little package.......2006-01-02

If you like old school power metal in the Maiden/Priest vein this is a great deal. RW is solid and this 2 disc set is a steal for under 15 dollars. I view this as fun "pirate metal". And I will risk saying if you don't have any other albums just get this as RW never really branches out and sounds too different. They have their sound, they're good at it, and the denim/leather school of metal is well represented on these 2 discs. As a side note their used to be a christian band called Messiah Prophet band that sounded an awful lot like this. So if you want the christian version find their Master of the Metal album.

5 out of 5 stars Unbelievably good!.......2005-08-02

I've been going back and collecting some of the old albums I used to listen to back in the mid-late '80's. Little did I know Running Wild was still around and going strong. I used to own "Branded and Exiled" and "Under Jolly Roger". I re-ordered them on CD and found this ablum, and decided it would be worth it to sample what this band has been doing since then. Little did I know what a jewel I had ordered!
I go back to the days of early Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, etc., and the only good metal band I have continued to follow from the early days is Megadeth (I got turned off to Metallica after the "Black" ablum). At first listen, I was a bit dissapointed, as "Mordor '03" and the updated "branded and Exiled" wasn't as good as the versions on the original ablum. Once the rift began for "Conquistadores" burst forth, I began to get hooked! Though the vocals on this ablum kind of get drowned out, the band is really tight. They have something of the sound of Iron Maiden at their peak, but more with a pirate edge.
Best songs: Under Jolly Roger, Conquistadores, Little Big Horn, Blazon Stone, Treasure Island, Black Hand Inn, The Privateer, Lions of the Sea, Balled of William Kidd (the best) and Tsar. Overall, this is one of the best old school style metal ablums I've heard in years; These two disks and "Y&T; Best Of, '80-86" hardly ever leave my carousel.

4 out of 5 stars Are the bonus tracks worth it..........2004-11-18

For metal collectors, "best of" packages can be both a blessing and a hinderance. The reason why is because record execs have it planned perfectly to include unreleased bonus tracks in the package to suck in the die hard fans to buy the set as well as passive fans. The same is here with "20 Years in History", a two disc best of compilation of Running Wild featuring 4 unreleased tracks. Two of the bonus tracks are re-recordings of Mordor and Branded and Exhiled, two tracks that originally appeared on their sophmore album. The othe two tracks are Prowling Werewolf and Apocalyptic Horsemen which are brand new songs that were written in the early days of the band but never recorded in the studio until now. These tracks sound interesting, but sadly they don't come out so hot. The reason being is the drums, which are obviously drum machines. I have nothing against drum machines as they can sound good if done right, but the drums on these four tracks sound absolutly terrible! Other than the rather lame bonus tracks, this "best of" compilation does a wonderful job at picking great tracks from every Running Wild studio album (from their debut Gates of Purgatory through The Brotherhood). There are two songs featured from every album (except Branded and Exhiled, which the re-recordings took the place of) and they are offered in new re-mixed forms. This is definitely another beautifly "best of" release from Sanctuary Records, but there was one thing I was disappointed in other than the bonus tracks. The Sanctuary "best of" releases of Helloween, Venom, and Motorhead contained detailed booklets with the history of the band in the form of liner notes. Nothing of that sort is found here other than various pictures. Overall this is still a great reelease for passive Running Wild fans and people wanting to sample what the band has to offer. As for die hard fans, it isn't worth getting unless you have to collect every studio track the band has ever recorded.

4 out of 5 stars great collection........2004-08-25

Prowling Werewolf is *not* live. It's a rerecorded version of that unreleased song. Same with Apolyptic Horsemen. Both are like "The First Ten Years Of Piracy" songs; rerecorded by the new band. In fact almost *every* song on this compilation has been "reworked" (Rolf's words) or rerecorded. No great changes to the old stuff, but the sound's a bit 'newer'. If you liked "The First Ten Years" you'll like this and if you don't have any RW albums yet you could do far worse than starting here as there's a little bit of everything here.

5 out of 5 stars Aaargh, Matey, Aaargh!.......2006-12-02

I'll have to go with most of the other reviewers on this one. It is great! It gives me the feel of the old pirate movies and I can just picture the Jolly Roger as a background to a bunch of guys and gals swigging ale and being rowdy.

Considering these guys are German, they do a great job of giving an Irish feel to the songs. Not only that, but they tell an intriguing story. None of the music strays from the atmosphere of the whole concept. Well done and highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars A TOP CLASS METAL ALBUM.......2006-06-27

Right mates...this is a piece of absolute great Heavy Metal!!!It have been listening Heavy Metal since 1987 but I've discovered Running Wild only in the fall 2005!!! In Italy we use to say "Better later than never...". I do love the band's discography...but this album, along with "Death Or Glory" and "Blazon Stone", is on top of my personal Running Wild list for sure! Rock'n'Rolf is not just one-man-band, I wish many more artist like him would have crushed into the Metal scene through the years...Black Hand Inn, Soulless, The Privateer, The Phantom Of The Black Hand Hill just to name the top tunes...but the average quality level is defenetely at its top during the whole album! DO NOT MISS THIS PIECE OF METAL!!!

5 out of 5 stars ....from the past 20 years.....and still is "THE BEST"!!!!.......2005-07-09

This CD just stands out among others power metal CD's. All we are witnesses how many power metal bands we have around nowdays. The others talk about Helloween, Hamerfall, Stratovarious, Gamma Ray, Symphony X, Primal Fear, etc.,etc., but this FACTORY is in the same level with Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Accept and with this CD, RW simply beats their all the best CD's with BHI!!!

5 out of 5 stars Power Metal in its Full Glory!!!!.......2004-03-21

What I don't understand is how the album "Pile of Skulls" sell more in Amazon than Black Hand Inn. This probably the best Running Wild album together with Death or Glory and Port Royal but for me it even surpass them!! Each song is great with no mediocre moments and the production is the best up to the that current point of Running Wild's history. If you like power metal it would be a shame not to have listened to this gem. You won't see a review here that will give less than 5 stars. If somebody rates this album less he will probably be a Britney Spears fan or something like that!!!

5 out of 5 stars If you've never heard of this band..wow you're missing out.......2003-09-27

This band is so kickass, i have to rate this band one of the greatest power metal bands i've ever heard in my life...but this CD!!...Black Hand Inn is THE BESTTTTT cd they've pulled together and i've heard every single song Running Wild ever wrote trust me...this is the cd to buy!!...INCREDIBLE you won't believe how addictive this music is!!! you can't stop listning to it im telling you it was in my cd player for months on end and it never came out you don't get sick of a masterpiece such as this one..great musicians, play so well together...incredible...

I think Victory is one of the greatest Running Wild cds like Port Royal

4 out of 5 stars It's hard to please everybody............2001-10-24

Well, it's really amusing to see the childish reactions
on Victory. Back in the late eighties/ early nineties there
were really lousy reviews by critics against
R.W ; " They are sounding the same - all the time".
But the fans loved it. Well, would you not know -
when frontman Kasparek tries to develope
the sound and make a step towards musical progress
then the same kind of unruly bastards shout
" what is this - it isn't like it used to be ! "
What the f##k do you want from the guy !?
To the reader ; do not mind the previous reviews
they are not serious. Although it is true that
Victory is marking a notable change in songwriting
and production ( it isnt the same tight, deep
power sound that you heard on the albums
BHI, Masquerade or POS ) - but to say that it is
bad is simply not true. In that case you never
understood R.W in the first place.
Secondly ; those of you who complain ; have you
missed the songs " Timeriders" , " Into the
fire " or " The Hussar " ? They are strong and
      solid up-tempo hymns in recognizable R.W-style -
      no question about it.
The album is absolute worth attention , but
for those of you who expect the same
      smoking aggression that dominated
POS or Masquerade - be prepared this is
      a little more progressive.....
      As for the Beatles-cover " Revolution " -
it's a interesting song in new cloting ,
but I'd prefer to hear it on a Beatles-tribute
      not a R.W-CD. A good metal album , and
still able to kick the life out of any
competitors who race in the same track-
german classic power metal that is.....

1 out of 5 stars SOmething so ridiculous.........2001-08-14

RUNNING WILD surprised me in this one. The album is outrageous, so bad it is. The Gods of Metal must be angry after listening to this collection of some of the worst metal songs ever written by a German power metal band. A real shame, my friends, I'll tell you that. The lyrcis are something beyond description, so silly. THe booklet is a joke. The drums seems to be from another planet, don't know where they found this awful sound.

1 out of 5 stars The last years of piracy??.......2001-05-14

When I first heard the previous album of this band ("The Rivalry"), I thought that it could be just a temporary "semifailure", like, say, "Point of entry" of Judas Priest. But now I see the descent continues. "Victory" is definitely the worst work of Running Wild, it's just a boring mix of their own old ideas and themes. If you have heard only this and/or previous album of the band, than take the word of an old music (not only metal) connoisseur and listen to their earlier works ("Masquerade" and before). They are much, much better.

      1 out of 5 stars DEFEAT.......2001-05-04

Oh boy, this Cd is awful... I expected so much more from Running Wild.. What a disspointment... THe photos in the booklet ( featuring Rolf in uniform ) are ludicrous, really a shame !! As for the song, forget about it. You'll get one or two worthwhile songs. The rest is garbage, sometimes even using sinthesyzed drums !!!! Blergh !!
