Album Description

Signed to Capitol Records in 1989, Prates of the Mississippi scored their first hit with Hank Williams' 'Honky Tonk Blues'. Over the next few years, the Pirates scored five Top 40 singles, including their signature hit 'Feed Jake' and were named ''New Vocal Group or Duo of the Year'' at the ACM's in 1990. Now after a decade off (spent writing songs for the likes of Montgomery Gentry, Alabama, Rascal Flatts, Jamie O'Neal and Clay Walker), the band is back and ready to re-launch their career. Every song has been written by group leaders Rich Alves and Bill McCorvey and the album was produced by the band and renowned producer/engineer John Kelton (Billy Ray Cyrus, Alan Jackson, Terri Clark, Faith Hill).

All I can say is WOW!!! What a great CD from start to finish. With catchy songs like "Kickin Up Dust" and "Gravy" this is one of the best. I had a tear in my eye on "A Snowman In Birmingham". It's good to see them back!!!

An Amazing Album From Start To Finish. .......2006-11-09

This is the one! In the true spirit of Pirates, this album is a fun filled journey from start to finish. "Kickin' Up Dust" is an amazingly addictive song that I can't get out of my head! "Drinkin' Money" & "Fish Bait" are equally catchy while "Snowman in Birmingham" & "Heaven and a Dixie Night" are destined to be classics. In its entirety, this album is well worth the purchase. If you are a country fan, or just a music lover - this is not your typical country album- then by all means GET THIS ALBUM!!! The Pirates are back and coming on strong.

Way Underated!.......2006-07-16

The only problem with this CD is it didn't get any airplay on our middle of the road FM stations with their top 400 play lists. This is just some of the coolest southern rock around with country influences. Pirates are on fire here!

Rollin Home.......2003-07-14

I was walking through my living room after work and there was Bill McCorvey singing on the inside of a house going down the interstate. He did it! The song in the video was Rollin Home and it is included on this album. I could listen to McCorvey sing all day -- and sometimes I still do thanks to the albums. This is the kind of country music that makes you feel good down to your bones. McCorvey's voice is kind of rough and smooth at the same time -- kind of a relaxing resonance. His lyrics are meaningful and his music makes you feel it.

Love those Pirates!.......2003-05-23

Just like all of their albums, this is excellent and well worth your time! When your 4 year old sings these songs and strums her "guitar" along with the TAPES this many years later, and you can't help but sing along and smile, briefly reliving the days of the Pirates and all the fun they carried with them. Prayers go out to the band and hopes of some sort of reuninion is included! Hey hey to Dean, and family!

This Is A Great CD. 1 Of These Songs I Like On This CD Was the Balled Feed Jake. I Have Seen The Video For This Song On CMT. It Is About A Man Driving Across Country To Attend His Friend's Funeral. I Like That Song Alot. I Played it a thousand times over and over. You would enjoy this CD.

This band is just totally under rated. Anyone that likes country with a bit of a bop style beat and something other than a cry in your beer style should try this album. Its just not your "typical" country, its rebel country with a fun attitude.

Best Album by an under appreciated band.......2003-08-21

This is the absolute best album the Pirates ever did, and it went nowhere! John Anderson's version of the title song cannot hold a candle to the Pirate's version. I think the group split shortly after the album's release, and that's a real shame. The album is full of great songs such as the title song, "Think Locally",and
the live "Feed Jake".The Pirates injected their songs with a great deal of humor along with some wonderful musicianship.
It's a real shame that the group and this album were never given a decent chance. If you get this album, you will not regret it.

Possible best Album.......2003-03-05

Country radio chose to play John Andersons version of "Paridise"and basically this album received no airplay which is sad because this CD is really upbeat with catchie lyricks and great Guitar and steel work. If you consider yourself even somewhat of a "Pirates" fan you would love this recording.
