One of Hank's best works in the 80's. Wild Streak is "Living Proof" that Hank has the right stuff. And is not affraid to speak his mind. I remember a local tavern had to take "If the South Woulda Won" off the jukebox because one or two lines in the song offended a couple patrons? So if your into love ballads or kick $#@ country. Then this is the classic Bocephus CD for you.

At no point in my following review am I by any means intentionally downing Hank Jr. I am just trying to give an honest review of this cd.

At the time this album was realeased, Hank Jr. was riding high, winning big at the CMA's and ACM's. He was also releasing some of the most critically aclaimed country records of his recording career. But then for some reason he decided he needed to record some rock and roll.

To me this cd is a studio recorded version of a Hank Williams Jr. live concert. The only difference is he didn't botch the vocals as he does on his live show. The music is decidedly 80% not country, it drifts towards eighties rock.

If you trace Hank Jr.'s recording career, you can point at this cd at the one that started the downward spiral that he has only began to pull himself out of.

I must say though, this cd contains one of Hanks last top 10 hits, "If the South Woulda Won," which is an hard to find recording on his compilations. I'd say this cd is kinda essential collecion wise, just because of that song.

More great music from Hank.......2004-05-15

Hank starts this album rocking hard on the first three tracks, most notably If the south woulda won, one of two major country hits, which ponders what might have happened if the civil war had produced a different result. The pace slows a little for You're gonna be a sorry man, in which Hank protests to another man about taking his woman. Next comes Love M D, a bluesy cover of a Tony Joe White ballad, which provides a complete contrast with the four preceding songs.

Early in the morning and late at night, a major country hit, is a mid-tempo love song. This is followed by a wonderful ballad, I'm just a man. Two more fine ballads follow, including Social call (about a telephone call). The album closes in grand style with the bluesy Tuesday's gone, a cover of a classic Lynyrd Skynyrd song - this version of the song was later re-issued on Skynyrd frynds.

This is yet another fine album that Hank's fans will enjoy.

This is one of the best country cds I have ever heard. I say this because whl the music is awesome and enjoyable and still easy to love. Whike at the same time it is still pure country.
