For country music purists who remember the original hits, this album correctly reflects Raven's early career gems before moving to MCA/Universal in the late 80's. Kudos to BMG for releasing this impressive collection. There are few things I hate more than re-recordings which can be confused as originals, despite being well-intended. This collection effectively separates the wheat from the chaff.

Finally! A complete RCA collection.......2003-04-03

RCA has in the past showed no mercy to it's most popular 70's and 80's artists, especially those in Country Music, but recent reissues through the Essential Series and through other Renaissance Records anthologies have shown that BMG who now owns RCA have more than made up the disappearance of many of their more popular artists' recordings. This new Eddy Raven compilation is no exception.

On this CD, RCA has kindly reissued all-original recordings of every single and B-side that they ever released for Eddy Raven on very high quality audio. This was especially a welcome surprise for fans as it looked doubtful that all of his RCA hits would ever be on a compilation or completely reissued. But-I was wrong. A grand total of four major hits completely out-of-print for many years are featured on this glorious CD including "I Could Use Another You", "She's Gonna Win Your Heart", "I Wanna Hear It From You" and "You're Never Too Old For Young Love". The first three were top ten hits while the last went all the way to #3 country. This is certainly not to overlook that the CD contains as advertised 13 total top tens and four #1 hit singles including the classics "I Got Mexico" and "Joe Knows How To Live".

Eddy Raven had one of the most distinct sounds of the 1980's. His recordings are unique and well produced and are an essential to any collector of country music from the 1970's and 1980's. As one of the finest country performers of the 1980's, this CD should not be passed up, because it won't be around forever.
