With her model-pretty looks and her bona fide pedigree (father Larry played guitar for Alabama, husband Mark Nesler is a Nashville songwriter), Jennifer Hanson is expected to go the distance in the new female category. Her first single, "Beautiful Goodbye," made inroads, largely for its organic pop production, faux R&B riffs, and jangly electric guitars. Yet like much of the album, the song lacks the kind of muscle to sustain much interest. Hanson, who coproduced this debut and cowrote all but two songs, does best when she has a story to tell--instead of just musing on the variations of love. A Very Enjoyable Listen.......2006-04-04

This is most definitely not a traditional country album. Indeed, much of it isn't particularly country at all. However, the disc is simply very enjoyable to listen to, and isn't that the most important thing of all? I get it out from time to time and listen to it all the way through without any temptation to skip ahead. Particularly good are "Beautiful Goodbye" "Travis" and "Half a Heart Tatoo." The ballads are strong too.

The name Jennifer Hansen was vaguely familiar until I spotted "Beautiful Goodbye". I bought the cd on a whim and am very glad I did. It has become one of my favorites. I love the variety of music and was so impressed to find that Jennifer does most of her own writing. As far as the voice quality--that's a personal preference--her voice doesn't especially stand out to me as an unforgettable voice, but the songs themselves do stand out and her delivery is very convincing. I can't help but connect with her on "Never Been This Far". The upbeat songs are fun and light-hearted, but the ballads really speak to the heart. My favorite overall is "Simply Yours". Take a listen and decide for yourself! Overall for a debut album--2 thumbs up! I look forward to the next one.

A great album .......2005-01-25

This is a really great album. I have a very large collection of country music, and this is one of the best albums in the whole bunch. I think it is very well written, very well produced, and Jennifer's performances are great. The album has a nice variety of upbeat, cool stuff and thoughtful ballads. Jennifer's voice reminds me most of Roseann Cash, but that's not a bad thing. If you are looking for traditional country, this isn't it. If you're looking for some great music to turn up and enjoy, this may be what you're looking for. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Great new artist.......2003-08-21

Jennifer Hanson is one of my favorite new artists on the country music scene. Her debut CD shows her awesome range from the rockin' Sheryl Crow-esque "Beautiful Goodbye" to the bluesy "Simply Yours". I like the upbeat, fun songs ("Beautiful Goodbye", "Half a Heart Tattoo" and "Get Yourself Back") the most. "Travis" has a serious message, while "All Those Yesterdays" and "This Far Gone" are great ballads.

This CD has a lot of depth and emotion. Jennifer Hanson is not only an excellent singer, but she plays guitar and writes most of her own songs. She going to be the next big thing in country and I look forward to hearing a lot more from her!

Awesome Four Seasons but a disappointing Gloria recording.......2004-06-17

The English Concert's Four Seasons ranks among the very best with beauty, passion, and drama...Simon Standage plays beautifully. It's one Four Seasons recording you never get tired of. Unfortunately, their recording of Vivaldi's gorgeous Gloria just doesn't move the listener as much as, for example, Robert Shaw's wonderful recording on Telarc. The zesty and spirited Bassoon concerto has been more successfuly recorded by the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields. Overall, this is a great collection with one of the best Four Seasons recordings, but some of the other performances are somewhat disappointing compared with the competition.

Get your Vivaldi fix!.......2002-01-24

Much more than great performances of all of these warhorses. From the exquisite baroque violin unisons and solos to the soft accompaniaments of the lute, this album demonstrates Trevor Pinnock's love and understanding of baroque instruments and music. All of the selections belong in any satisfying collection and to get them all together and so superbly performed is a wondrous find.

Don't miss this CD!.......2001-05-01

This a fantastic recording of The Four Seasons and other works. Pinnock and The English Concert shine as always, and deliver the music brilliantly without destroying the style. I doubt one could find a better recording of The Four Seasons.

The various concerti on CD 2 are a must have as well, especially the concerto for 2 mandolins.

I have never been a huge fan of cantatas and such, but anyone looking for exciting vocal works will love Gloria.

A lot of music, a low price, and brilliant players. On top of all that the recordings are digital. What more could anyone ask for?
