Their backbeat is the frantic pounding of a restless heart.

As country duos go, the Warrens are more Foster & Lloyd than Brooks & Dunn, which is to say they create clever country songs that sound like pop songs....

One of 5 CDs I Cannot Live Without.......2005-08-30
Ok. What do I love about this CD? Oh Boy - where do I start? This is one of my five CDs I cannot live without - in fact, I lost it and ordered another one recently because I missed it so much.
This CD is great for long road trips - the tempos are nice and mid-level, with just enough "push" to keep you going!
I originally purchased this CD back when "Guilty" came out (1998) and I loved every song on it. The Brothers' songwriting skills come through like a ray of sun on a dark day - so insightful. They are so in touch. I think honestly the Warrens are amongst the best songwriters in the Country genre, definitely - and the musicianship also shows through.
Normally I do not buy "new country" - I am a traditionalist/old school. But I love this CD and can't say enough good things about it.
My favorite song on here? Hard to pick one. My favorites: Surviving Emily, Greyhound, Better Man, I Tried, Just Another Sad Song.
I love the family harmonies! You can't beat it.
I would love to have a jam session with the Warren Brothers any day of the week...
Buy this CD!! I don't recommend alot of things, but the ones I feel strongly about, I do. This CD is one.
((incidently, if you're wondering about my 5 CD list,
1. Collective Soul - Youth
2. Collective Soul - (Self-titled)
3. Vince Gill - Pocketful of Gold
4. Skip Ewing - Coast of Colorado
5. Warren Brothers - ..Cold Cruel World
Honorary Runners Up
6. Collective Soul - 7even Year Itch
7. Meet Joe Black - Soundtrack))
My head hurts.......2001-12-20
Before I begin let me say that country music is not my style. I do have an open mind about music if it is good though. For some unknown reason this CD was given to me as a gift. Needless to say with a friend like that, who needs enemies. The CD found its way into the CD changer as I was doing some painting in my house. As the random disc changer bumped around from disc to disc I got more involved with painting. Then as fate would have it, "She Wants To Rock" came out of the speakers. My first response was to shout "Get thee behind me Satan." After I realized my house was not possessed and it was merely a horrific song, I dashed to the stereo to find out what scared me so. I thought that some dastardly villian had slipped a Nelson album into my collection. No.. It was The Warren Brothers. I decided to see what else the CD had to offer thinking maybe this track was an anomoly. But alas, it was quite indicative of the entire album. There was not one saving grace on the entire album. If possible I would hope congress could enact a law to forbid siblings from harmonizing. Maybe they could call it the "Hanson Act." If you like dippy schlock country then this is for you. If you want quality, buy the "O Brother Where Art Thou" soundtrack.
This is a GREAT cd!.......2000-04-16
All the songs on this are excellent no matter what mood you're in. Many are fast-paced, and great for singing along to! After my brother saw these guys open for Lynrd Skynrd, he instantly bought the CD. I listened to it once and knew I had to buy it. This is a GREAT cd!
What a wonderful world! April 15, 2000.......2000-04-15
I bought this several months ago after hearing the boys on a local TV show. The sound was so refreshing - not the same old monotone stuff with one lyric. It is the best CD I have heard in years. Can't wait for the next one.
Love it.......2000-04-01
How can you not love this CD. Those who don't should really broaden their horizons. Finally some real talent in the music industry.
