Customer Reviews:
Southern sludge, like drowning in molasses.......2005-06-26
As for this CD, it is some heavy listening! Yet, these guys branch out and show off some of the bluesier aspects of their music on two acoustic numbers: Woe's Me and Kira May. The move from the glacial pace of Buzz and Bull to the (for them) quick pace of Lines. Some other sludge bands manage to put together a cd that sounds like 10 different takes of the same song. Not here! There's enough variety to keep things interesting, yet every song is instantly identifiable as Weedeater.
If you like heavy music, do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of this disc.

Album Description
Born June 26th, 1898, in Scott Mississippi, William Lee Conley Broonzy started working in the fields picking cotton and corn at the age of seven. Along with his brothers, he took up coal mining in 1916 before moving to Chicago where he started playing the guitar in the early 1920's.He first recorded in 1927 and became a hit-maker during the next decade. He enjoyed a long recording career (260 blues songs) up to the time of his death, from throat cancer, on August 14th, 1958. He was one of the few popular bluesmen associated with a sound as well as with signature songs like 16 Tons, and Baby Please Don't Go, which are both included on this remarkable blues album.
