Janis Ian as Elizabeth! Breathtaking!!!!.......2005-12-27

I found this CD listed on Ebay. It indicated that Janis Ian was a featured artist. I make it a goal in life to own "everything Janis". Wow! Janis plays the part of Elizabeth, but with that voice, she could be mistaken as one of the angels. Get this CD, if for no other reason than to have track 5, "Child in a Barren Land"

Indispensable, sublime, classic Christmas cd.......2004-06-01

This album is one of the finest musical creations of the 20th century. The recording chronicles the birth of Jesus and surrounding events through a series of spoken words vignettes, songs and instrumental pieces. Each piece breathes a life of it's own, creating soundscapes from joyful, to mournful, to haunting, and hopeful. The performances are astounding. Craig Bickhardt's acoustic playing is fantastic. It's a shame this cd is out of print, but as a person jaded by overplayed "X-mas jingles", I would recommend this recording wholeheartedly, if you can find it.

wonderful music - the true meaning of Chirstmas! I highly recommend this CD to anyone. The acoustics and the lyrics are phenomenal. It 's the story of Chirst birth retold.

This music is so peppy you can't help but dance to it-and of course that makes little ones happy. Dancing in the kitchen while listening to the music and cooking dinner is so much fun! This CD would be a perfect gift from a grandparent or a great CD for a grandparent to have at their house to listen to when grandkids come to visit!
