5 out of 5 stars FABULOUS!.......2007-05-17

My sister and I each bought a copy of Forosoco after a Bacon Brothers concert several years ago. It is still one of my favorite CDs. All of the songs on this album showcase their tremendous talent as singers/songwriters. In particular, "Memorize" is truly unforgettable.

5 out of 5 stars Their first CD.......2006-08-16

For me, their newer songs need to measure up to this cd, which is one of my all time favorite cds.
Yes, I love Kevin Bacon and have since "Footloose", but now I love this band. I have dragged most every friend and family member to their shows and no one has ever been disappointed. Michael has a beautiful, soulful voice. He is a wonderful musician. Kevin brings his own personality and talent to the mix. His lyrics run the gamut of amusing to heartfelt.
"Grey-Green Eyes", "Woman's Got a Mind to Change" and "Only a Good Woman" are perfect examples of their ability to create quality music.
The whole cd is essentially catchy and insightful. This band is a fabulous way to broaden your musical horizons. Kevin and Michael have a great sense of humor that is evident in many of their songs, as well as in one of my faves "Guess Again." Kevin has a way of not taking himself and public persona seriously (hence the "Footloose" track) that is just so entertaining.
"Adirondak Blue" is poignant and lovely with a haunting cello riff. It's the kind of song you don't mind having stuck in your head all day. The brothers' harmonic vocals here are simply beautiful.
The two live songs they added are so fun and very typical of their live shows. When I am at a show, I never want it to end.
Thank goodness he didn't just stick to the movies! Get this CD, you'll be glad you did.
Selfish to say, but I am glad they are still under the radar. One day they will get the Grammy recognition they deserve.

5 out of 5 stars classic sound.......2004-04-06

I found the bacon brothers music through our local library music collection and have since bought every CD and gone to two concerts. They have a refined garage band sound, really clever songs, every one stands on its own. This CD is my favorite of all of theirs. I have listened to it about 200 times and still enjoy it on a regular basis.

5 out of 5 stars They Don't Make `Em Like This Any More.......2004-03-22

It's no wonder the Bacon Brothers haven't topped the charts--their music has all the things today's radio listeners HATE: heart, soul, clever lyrics, great harmonies and top quality musicianship...elements that would make the multi-pierced, purple-haired mutant behind the counter at your local music store say "dude, that's soooo lame...". Oh yeah...and none of their song titles include using the number "2" instead of the word "to" (--GOD isn't it clever when recording artists do that???) The music industry wonders why sales are in the dumper and people are so into downloading free songs off the net. That's because most recent music isn't worth paying for. The Bacon Brothers are the exception. BUY THIS CD! And then buy their next CD--"Getting There"... You WON'T be disappointed IF you know what real music should sound like.

First, forget that Kevin is a movie star. He is the real deal--and, one of the best tongue-in-cheek sports in the world (yes...live Bacon Brothers shows end with him doing "Footloose"--the best example of self-deprecating humor you'll ever see from anyone in the sacred cow Hollywood crowd). If "Old Guitars" doesn't hook you right out of the chute, throw this CD away and go buy the latest from "50 Cent", "Blink 182" or the latest inductee in the Mediocre-Chump-Star-Of-The-Week club...and resign yourself to the fact that you are common and your musical tastes are average. For the Stetson-wearing crowd, the fact that "Only A Good Woman" wasn't a huge hit on the country charts shows that the C & W genre is mired in as much mediocrity as the rock/pop world.

This CD--and the follow up "Getting There"-are not discs on which you "program" favorite songs--let them play through. Or, as the pierced, purple-haired crowd would say: "dude, they're the bomb fo' shizzle...".

Grown-ups can make music "2"!!!

5 out of 5 stars Awesome!.......2003-02-08

I've given this cd as a gift to more people than I know. I highly recommend it. Clever lyrics, great vocals and amazing musical talent. What more can you ask for????

5 out of 5 stars Surprisingly fun........2002-03-19

I purchased this album (am I dating myself when I say album? I mean CD) after hearing the Bacon Brothers on "Acoustic Cafe" a Sunday morning radio show. I am a fan of bands like The Kingston Trio and such and liked the sounds I heard on the show. This CD really surprised me with it's energetic, fun and mellow songs. If you like folk rock you can do much worse that purchasing this disc, also check out Mark Erelli if you like good mellow folk with a hint of country.

5 out of 5 stars A Great CD!.......2001-02-22

I bought this CD just for K9 Love. I found myself playing the entire CD over and over again! Each and every song on the entire CD is worth listening to.

5 out of 5 stars Surprised!.......2000-12-04

While I was home for Thanksgiving this past fall, my sister was playing the Bacon Bros. CD on the stereo. I was surprised when I asked her who this was and she replied, Kevin Bacon and his bro. Later when I returned to NC I bought the CD and already know that I will listen to the CD over and over again. The guitar, vocals, and lyrics are excellent! It has the likes of the Pat Mcgee Band and even reminds me of early Dave Mathews acoustic. It is definitely a keeper.
