Diamond Rio is one heck of a good country band: perfect picking, high-energy presentation, and harmonies tight like a dream. Unbelievable is another solid outing filled, start to finish, with hit after likely hit, from the on-fire title track to the earnest anthem "(I Will) Start All Over Again." Granted, as is usually the case with Rio, everything is far slicker than it needs to be, and misses the bluegrass punch and gospel intensity these boys are capable of. For a shot of the band's true potential, check out their truly unbelievable cover of "Walking in Jerusalem" on the Peace in the Valley compilation. Compared to that high standard, Unbelievable doesn't quite live up to its title, but it's still one heck of good country album. --David Cantwell
Country Music Magazine
Diamond Rio is definitely mainstream, in both the positive and pejorative sense of the word. Yet these particular songs sound over-produced and a bit contrived amidst the more honest and earthy tones of the rest of Unbelievable.

Amazon.com essential recording
With its somewhat grandiose title, the legendary Otis Redding's fifth album maintained much of the same formula that had been used on his previous recordings for the Stax subsidiary label Volt, combining some fine Redding-penned originals with the stylized vocalist's interpretations of others' material. While Redding always lent his own special raw, gospel-edged stamp to everything from the Beatles' perky "Day Tripper" to a slowed-down, unparalleled reading of the pop standard "Tennessee Waltz," it was on his own songs--such gems as "Fa- Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa (Sad Song)" (his 15th R&B hit single), the plaintive "Ton of Joy," and the bluesy "Hawg for You"--that Redding was at his soulful best. That said, nothing quite compares to how he turned another pop classic, "Try a Little Tenderness" into an emotive opus that became a showstopper wherever he appeared during his tragically short-lived four years as a hit-making recording artist. As an example of the horn-driven Memphis sound, Dictionary of Soul is an excellent reference, and Redding is in peak form as a true American original, whether he's giving '50s hit man Chuck Willis's "You're Still My Baby" a workover or breezing through his own almost-joyful "She Put the Hurt on Me." For the benefit of those with limited "knowledge" of Redding's specialized vocal vocabulary, the original album included some sidesplitting definitions of terms such as "gotta-gotta" ("not able to do without it") and "ou" ("ouchless excitement"), and they are reproduced in full on this reissue of what is easily one of Redding's finest recordings. --David NathanCustomer Reviews:

My #1 Instrumental Surf Album!!!.......2001-08-26
Utterly Essential.......2001-05-01
Track 1. FURY The perfect tune to open the album and show you exactly what you're in for. Straight up surf rock that sounds the best when it's turned up real loud.
Track 3. STRIGHTJACKET This is a full on Link Wray-ish groove. Danny Amis and Eddie Angel burn through low down blues riffs while incorporating their signature surf sound. one of my favorite songs on the record.
Track 10. ITCHY CHICKEN As hilarious as it is cool, the title of the song hits the nail on the head. Somehow, the Straightjackets figured out how to make their axes cluck like chickens. In the tradition of Run Chicken Run, this one is equal parts Surfari's and Colonel Sanders. One of the numerous arguments that Los Straightjackets are one of the most talented (and original) bands of all time.
Track 13. RAMPAGE Smokin' rock & roll. Since the Jackets don't have lyrics, they rely on the name of the song to convey the idea and feelings of the tune. Once again, they came up with a title that fits the song like a glove (or a wrestling mask). RAMPAGE is a four way assault from all the instruments. These dude's rock hard and have a blast doing it.
In conclusion, this album gets an "A" from Peterbiltman for originality, fun and complexity. Los Straightjackets are proof that there still are a few good rock & roll bands out there.

A must have!!!!!.......2007-07-19
One word of caution though, my friend says it lost its charm once her babies approached the 1 yr mark. So, if you have an older infant it may not yield the same results. My daughter is 5 mos and it still works its magic. My husband and I often joke that we will be sad the day this CD loses it appeal.
FYI- This CD should NOT be 37.00. I think I paid $15 or 20. I'm not sure if that is an error or not. I would try running a search for it elsewhere. It may be worth $40 but it should be the price of the average CD.

UNBELIEVABLY AWFUL.......1999-10-29
As sappy and been-there-done-that as "You're Gone" is, it is a masterpiece compared to the title song, which easily qualifies as one of the worst ditties in recent country music history. As if the song itself wasn't awful enough, Marty Roe's "Bubba on Amphetamines" vocal performance is more annoying than watching a PBS Barney marathon. Whenever I turn on the radio and am assaulted with this torturous song, I just about break my finger slamming the "Search" button so that I can get to another station - any other station.
At least they are getting better at what they do -- that is if being more irritating that the Backstreet Boys and N'Sync put together is their goal. I thought "How Your Love Makes Me Feel" from their GREATEST HITS album was as bad as it could get until I heard "Unbelievable". Unbelievable, indeed.
If everyone just ignores them, will Diamond Rio just go away?

One thing's for certain: the Unbelievable Truth's lead singer, Andy Yorke, sure can sing his heart out. While this English trio's debut may receive attention solely because Yorke's brother is the acclaimed lead singer of Radiohead, Almost Here stands up quite well on its own musical merits. A particularly evocative soft-rock ensemble, Yorke, Nigel Powell, and Jason Moulster have cobbled together a calm, moving collection of hauntingly melodic songs. Yorke's rich vocals practically glow with a seductive melancholy that gains much strength from the band's rich tapestry of guitars, keyboards, and percussion. On "Higher Than Reason" his voice soars dramatically over a delicate arrangement of fanciful British pop. Gentle and hypnotic, this is one album of extremely sad songs that you shouldn't miss. --Mitch MeyersCustomer Reviews:

Forget what you know or what you think you know...............2001-12-28
Well, simply put, this is a stupid way to view things. Aside from gene pool similarities, there are none. This band stands upon it's own merits. The song writing is stellar! The vocals are soothing and chilling and peaceful. The lyrics have a depth that is missing in 98% of todays so called music.
Forget trying to compare them to other bands. The whole..."if you like so and so, you will like this band" is stupid. Buy this record regardless of who or what you like. Throw all expectations out the window and buy this record! It matters NOT if you like Neil Diamond, or, Coldplay, or the Verve, or Zeppelin, or Earth Wind and Fire............. this band has something in every song for every song lover.
Well worth the time and effort to find this band.

Sarah returns!.......2006-05-23
Unbelievable kicks off with her first duet with then boyfriend Wyclef Jean on 'One Night Stand'. Its a very fast hip hop beat yet pop type song. 'Hes Unbelievable' pops it up a little but not as much as some of her debut album songs. 'I wanna touch you there' takes the final pop up tell mid CD. Its blues time baby!
'Loving Permission' is a slow and sensual ballad while 'Where did you sleep last night' is a blues 'I'll kick you butt' type song. The 'No more drama' sampling 'Bounce' hip hops it up again only to tone it down with the sweet and sexy rnb ballad 'Skin on Skin' (which was released shortly after she met her now husband Marc Terenzi.)
'Wait tell you hear from me' pops it up but with a serious tone about drug abuse. 1+1=2 starts the 'pop section' of 'Unbelievable' mainly produced by the music making team KayRob. This section takes us through some sweet songs especially ballads such as 'Beautiful' and 'Sweet Thang'.
'Teach U Tonight' brings us back to where we began with a sexy pop'nb number. Depending what version of 'Unbelievable' you have this is the point the track listing may differ. The copy I have then has some remixes from 'Green Eyed Soul' plus bonus tracks 'That girl' and 'Make my day'. The version here has 3 Spanish versions of new songs and of course 'From Sarah with love'.
Overall a good CD...maybe not her best CD but not bad at all. Highly recommended!
