Watch out, Rascal Flatts. Here comes Emerson Drive, rolling out of Canada with an eye on your formula: rock masquerading as country, high-octane energy, layered harmonies, and enough testosterone to power a truck pull. While they wrote none of the material on this debut disc, the six-piece band is hung up on "bed" songs, from "I Should Be Sleeping," the hit single about a guy's inability do anything but think of his girl, to "Light of Day" and "I See Heaven," which pretty much say the same thing. In fact, every song here is about getting the girl, thanking God for the girl, and pinching yourself to make sure you're not just dreaming you got the girl. That's what you do when you're young and in love, of course. I really liked this CD. They are also great in concert. Vocals and music are outstanding.

Best Album Yet!.......2007-03-08

I would have to say this is Emerson Drive's best album to date. I own (and love) both of their other CD's, but this one rocks! I am listening to it constantly. I don't think that I will ever get sick of it. The lyrics of most of the songs is just so profound, and they just speak to me. If I had to pick a favourite song, it would be a tie between "Moments" and "Everyday Woman." These are both slower songs on the album, but the lyrics are just so poignant and it just gets to you nand makes you think. Also, the songs are even better when you hear them live, so if you get a chance to, see these guys in concert! I had the pleasure of seing them play at a small bar in town, and I think it's was more intimate than it would have been in a huge arena, so that made is so much better. I love this CD and would totally reccomend it to anyone! (Even if you're not a big fan of country music in particular)

The Best Country cd i've Herd in a While.......2007-02-06

This was a good cd. This was just good all around. it was different, but a good different. I was very pleased. I love the deep voises of country. this was one of the greats. i enjoyed it very much. I'm a new fan of Emerson Drive. I shall collect all of their cd someday. One at a time. I love the song " Moments" & " A Good Man". So Great Job. A lot of Stars to go around. See ya soon.

This is a great CD from top to bottom. By far the best song is "A Good Man."

"Countrified" Rocks!.......2006-09-20

While I've enjoyed E Drive's past two albums, this one takes their talents a step farther, defining their impact in the country arena. The songs, "A Good Man," "Moments" and "Countrified Soul" are my favorites, but it's not like they outshine the eight remaining songs. Each time I listen to the album, I get something different out of the songs. I'm certain this CD will be at the top of my listening stack for quite a while. BUY THIS ALBUM! It's worth every penny! And if you get the chance, see these guys live. So much energy and fun.

Emerson Drive, I now love country!!!!!.......2004-07-11

Yes, all the songs on this CD are songs about love, from wanting the girl/falling in love with the girl/staying true to the girl. Love is, afterall, one of the major themes in all country music. Until now, I have been only a marginal fan of country music, but Emerson Drive has changed all that! Brad Mates' vocals are in a class of their own--he could sing anything--from Harry Connick style music to rock, and he would be incredible. His vocal range includes some pretty sexy bass! Each of the instrumentalists are exceptional musicians, and I believe it is this talent that prompted Shania Twain to ask the band to open for her in her current tour. The lyrics may all be about love, but they are not typical of country, especially those on 'Say My Name', 'Evidence', and 'Looking Over My Shoulder'. After listening to the CD once, it has become my favourite album!

I have been to three or four of these guys concerts, and what i love the most is there cd is amazing, and the sound even beter in person. There so great they stay to sighn everyone autographs, and ther just plain sweethearts who are talented, i would recomend this cd to anyone who likes good music

This is a great album. I saw these guys in concert in Nov 2003 in Dallas, and man do they rock--and play great country! With their song "Only God" being written by Shania's husband, Mutt Lange, you know it's a great one...as are all the songs. They opened for Shania last year and will continue to do so this year when the UP! tour continues in America. Get the cd--you'll love it. Brad has such a powerful voice....you'll be dreamin'. :)

Great talent, not the best material.......2005-09-26

After the first album I was really hoping for another phenomenal disc (I still listen to the debut often). Brad Mates' tremendous vocals are still there but overall the album just didn't strike a really strong chord with me. I didn't want to review this when I first got it in order to give it a chance. After over a year it has grown on me but still it's only 3 starsjust hasn't clicked with me. "Last One Standing" was a song I really enjoyed and I do enjoy the ballads and "Still Got Yesterday" has preserved some of Brad's passion and edginess in his voice. Unfortunately, the mastering is too slick and they compress almost all of the emotion and personality out of his voice on most of the other material. I do enjoy pop-type country so I did find when I played it after a long absence that I did remember the songs and could sing along with some of the parts, so it wasn't completely unmemorable. Apparently Lonestar thought "You're Like Comin' Home" and "I'll Die Trying" were both good enough to record on their latest effort. As much as I love Richie McDonald's voice, I think Brad does them better, but warmer more natural production would have better showcased it. I should have known when their last single off the debut album "Only God (Could Stop Me Loving You)" was released in a more compressed, less emotional and passionate mix for the single and video that they had fallen into the hands of some very misguided producers. Emerson Drive's strength was the awesome voice of Brad and the lovely harmonies of this bandmates. Clean up Brad's vocals this way and it just sounds like country boy band.

One of my favourite country bands..........2005-08-11

I don't think there is much to add...if you read the other reviews you'll clearly see that this is a cd worth purchasing. I have had the pleasure of seeing the guys at a county fair about 2 years ago, and I was in awe of their performance. They are just amazing all around. I am going to see them again in a week, and I couldn't be more excited!
My favourite song on this cd is "Running Back To You", but I like every song on this album...Pick it up, you won't be disappointed.

Great Guys & Great Music.......2004-11-03

This is a super CD!! Anyone who doesn't care for country music will also like this. They have their own style. My husband does not care for country music but really likes their music. We saw them in concert at a fair and they are wonderful. We even got to meet them when they were taking photos after the concert. They did not mind taking the time to talk to us. You do not see that often.

Go and buy it........2004-09-10

The new Emerson Drive CD, What If, is awesome. It has a new-age country sound to it. Plus, their fiddle player is kick butt and you can hear it in the music. The album also has a mixture of new and old songs with the bands unique sound intermingled into it all. For example, my personal favorite on the album is an oldie, "Fishin' in the Dark." It has now been revised by Emerson Drive. Just goes to show you how exclusive this band is with how they remade the song. It has the same lyrics, but with, in my opinion, a new-age twist of drums, fiddle and it's more upbeat than the original.
Even though there's that old song on there, the guys can still kick it and write new ones of their own. I love their first track, "Last One Standing"; it's flamboyant and a great way to start off the CD.
Major props to the new Emerson Drive CD, I would definitely recommend it that is if you like country music.

I never heard of Emerson Drive before i saw them opening for Shania Twain, i went and bought there first CD the next day, i listened to it on the way home and i've been hooked ever since.

They're gonna be huge.......2007-03-19

Emerson Drive are back and better than ever. I started listening to "modern" country when I got the CMT channel in 2004, I had only heard two songs from Emerson Drive (Last One Standing and November) LOS was really good, wasn't crazy about November, but then they disappeared before I had a chance to form a solid opinion on them. I always thought they were good though. I saw them then at FanFare in Nashville TN in 2005 when they did a free concert outside downtown, they did great. I sang along with Last one standing and even November, I almost met Brad Mates but didn't, cuz I really would have had nothing to say. Got a good picture though! Can't wait until I see them at FanFare this year and then at a county fair in July.

Anyway, then they came back with "A Good Man" which was very good, and Moments.. WOW, LOVE that song and that VIDEO, it is the BEST!! (It is doing excellent on the Charts, and should be at 1 in no time!) So I had to buy the CD and as I suspected it is FANTASTIC! I wish I could give it 10 stars.
My fav's are "Moments" "Sweet Natural Girl" "Countified Soul" and "Testify". The rest are stellar too, the vocals are top notch, and they did really good with Charlie's "Devil Went Down To Georgia". Brad Mates rocks. His vocals are out of this world, a good song to prove that is "A Boy Becomes A Man" My least fav is "Everyday Woman". But the CD is great, one of the best. Teddy Gentry did a great job producing it. I listen to this CD VERY often!!

This groups talent is out of this world. They will be around for a long time to come! They are back and better than ever, and this time, they ain't goin' anywhere!

Countrified Soul is a honky tonk rocker! This is the best music E Drive has done in years. Anyone living or that has lived in the country can relate to this song. It gets the momma's boots kickin up on the floor! The little rap for cottoneyedjoe is funny too. Buy this if you havent already.

I normally don't write reviews for cd's, but I just had to say something about this one! I've been a big fan of Emerson Drive since they started, but they have just gotten better and better with each release. The songs have more depth and maturity, Brad's voice is richer, the harmonies are tighter, and the band absolutely ROCKS!! My faves: A Good Man, Moments, and of course, The Devil Went Down To Georgia! But that doesn't mean they aren't ALL great!! I can't wait for the next one!!! Go see them live if you have the chance--AWESOME!!!!

This CD is a must have! The song "Moments" is so beautiful and full of emotion, it brings tears to my eyes. Other songs like "Countryfied" are rockin and keep your toes tappin. This CD is definately one of my favorites. I pre-ordered it and I've already bought more copies for gifts.

I totally fell in love with Emerson Drive the first time I heard "I Should Be Sleeping" on the radio. To find out it was written by Shaye Smith made it even better. The CD single features the original version heard on the radio, plus two very distinct remixes (the 3AM mix and an acoustic version), and another new song called "Hollywood Kiss" (which is also AWESOME!). They also put on a stellar live show, I can't wait for their record to come out. ED is going to go far - and they're easy on the eyes too!!!

Entertaining!.......2002-04-07

I think this is a great song...lyrics and music. I actually saw this group in concert on 4/06/02 in Atlantic City...they were the opening act for Toby Keith and they put on a great show--very active on stage, powerful pop/country sound, and very clean-cut look!! I would highly recommend to catch this band in your local town, and I can't wait until there new CD is released (hopefully very soon).

Waitin' on you?!?.......2004-01-07

This is Emerson Drive's latest single.
It contains 2 tracks : Waintin' On Me and Rescued.
Waitin' On Me is a very fun, up beat song. Wonderful fiddle playing on this one. Should of made it up the charts more than it did... I guess we will have to wait until the whole album gets released.
Emerson Drive's next album should be coming out in the spring of 2004. The album was produced by Richard Marx.
Hang on 2004, Emerson Drive will blow your mind!
