Editorial Reviews
Hell, once again, to all of you who even bother to read the inside of these sleeves. Well, it is finally here- the first official that all of you been pestering me to make. Let me pause for a moment to give credit where it is due.
Woody Hopf- Mandolin
Laura Hopf (Ceridwyn)- Music for Ballad of the Trade
Jonathan Hopf (Yonatan)- Music for Francois Villan and Jolly Tinker's Thing
Jonathan originals- The Look, Reuben, The Music Box, Is the Music Over.
Jonathan (words only)- Slay Lady Slay (Lay Lady Lay by Bob Dylan), Merc Boy (Sick Boy by Social Distortion)
Laura and Jonathan (words only)- Children's Song for the SCA
Keith Nielson- Beer Goggle Blues (words and music (used with permission)
Interesting Tidbits-
I found Francois Villan in a very, very old book- it is from 1680 and was written just before he was as a thief. Many of the other traditional pieces are also from the 1600's - 1700's as well. I went through 2 MD4 recorders to bring this CD into existence. I went through about 6 gallons of blood. I donated it to the lovely mosquitos who dined on me whilst I recorded. The songs Reuben and Wake up Sean are both based upon true life experiences. Come to think of it, so is the Children Song of the SCA (we omitted some of the more bitingly sarcastic ones that would really offend certain people or SCA kingdoms.
This CD is dedicated to our gracious mothers, Sue & Jane, for teaching us that it's cool to be differant
Special thanks to Bill Bulman helping to produce this CD, and without whom this CD wouldn't even exist
