About the Artist
Led by Will Taylor, STRINGS ATTACHED is a collection of stellar artists, each widely known in his area. The group includes Taylor on viola, violin and acoustic guitar, Shawn Sanders on cello, Steve Zirkel on fretless and fretted electric bass and trumpet, Glenn Rexach on acoustic and electric guitar, Brad Evilsizer on drums and percussion, and Jason McKenzie on tablas, drums and percussion. Taylor formed the group in 2000, after rehearsing and presenting a number of eclectic and enthusiastically received shows with artists from the pop, rock and folk communities, including artists such as Sara Hickman and Barbara K. The group's self-titled cd, released in December of 2000, offers a small window into the eclectic group of singers, songwriters, and instrumental and stylistic approaches that have created such a buzz for Strings Attached, including recordings with artists such as Ian Moore, Sara Hickman, and Barbara K. It was obvious to Taylor and the artists involved! that the scene was ready to see a formalized group continue these collaborative efforts, and Strings Attached was the result. Since that time, recent shows have featured Ray Wylie Hubbard, Eliza Gilkyson, Slaid Cleaves, Sara Hickman, Tish Hinojosa, Darden Smith, and Ginger Mackenzie.

Strings Attached presented the Complete Beatles White Album in Concert May 19, 2006. About two dozen Austin area musicians gathered together at the University Baptist Church to perform the Beatles White Album in concert with Will Taylor and the String Attached Ensemble on May 19th. The atmosphere was fun loving and casual and because this is Austin, plenty of church jokes were made (by far my fave: "Hey, that baptismal tank sure would hold a lot ice and beer!"). Every demographic seemed to be there which makes sense when you think about it.... even if you've been living under a rock all your life, you'd probably recognize at least one song off of that album. The artists performed two sold out shows that night-- 7:30 and 10:00 pm. I attended the later one that ended well past midnight.
