Está presentación en vivo fue el click de dejar el tiempo del exilio, mostrar lo hecho y aprendido en Francia al Chile que podían regresar, luego de muchos años... También es el paso a una nueva historia del grupo con deserciones y nuevos aportes. Aquí está el ultimo registro de Willy Oddó, con el grupo, antes de morir trágicamente.

This disc includes the best songs of this excellent chilean group, wich has been always compromised with the political situation of the contry and the surrounding nations, and not only that. It includes great songs composed by the greatest musicians in Chile and Latin America in general. Special mention requires "La Carta", from Violeta Parra; "Te recuerdo Amanda" from Victor Jara, both important composers and researchers of cultural roots in south-american music. It also comprehends songs that cross the borders in Latin America, such as "La Muralla", "Guantanemera" and "El pueblo unido". In summary, simply the best of Quilapayún.

El regreso del exilio, el fin y el comienzo de una era!.......2000-06-18

Es 1988, septiembre, un presidente militar que tenía Chile, decide dejar que algunos chilenos regresen del exilio que partió en 1973, entre ellos Illapu, Inti Illimani y Quilapayún. Llegan, fiestas en las calles, recitales, encuentros y reencuentros. Compromisos no dejan tiempo para volver... Quilapayún regresa a Francia... Se presenta, después, en España, a presentar TRES TIEMPOS DE AMÉRICA, junto a Paloma San Basilio, en Octubre de 1988. Después, la dificil decisión de regresar o no. Entra en crisis Quilapayún. Eduardo Carrasco, director del grupo, decide el regreso, aunque solo. Eduardo, fundó junto a su hermano y Julio Numhauser, este grupo Quilapayún(Nombre que significa Tres barbas en mapudungú, o idioma mapuche, pueblo originario de Chile)en 1965. En 1989 regresa sin el grupo, dejá a cargo de director del grupo a Rodolfo Parada, y a un director musical que es Patricio Wang. El grupo no quiere dejar de volver a su Chile, pero tantos años en Francia, han dejado raíces dificiles de podar...Vuelven a presentar un recital en enero de 1989, en el teatro California, el que tenemos en este CD, precisamente. Era la hora de mostrar a Chile, el fruto de vivir en tierra extranjera, de la infuencia de genios como Roberto Matta, la cultura y la canción francesa. Mostrar las canciones que con los años fueron simbolos de lucha, de amor y de la revolución y las estrellas. Un concepto en que la cultura es la verdadera promoción del hombre, para volverse realmente así, ser humano. Un Quilapayún surrealista, un grupo que presenta canciones, hace teatro, chistes y que no olvida a sus ex-integrantes que invita al escenario. Un Quilapayún, que luego de una gira por Chile, no volveria hasta 1997... Pero aquí, para que lo escuchen...Quilapayún en Chile!
