About the Artist
Tommy(Tom Gardner)joined Danny Quinn in 1998 to form the Uncle Brothers. He is a father of three and an award winning songwriter. Tommy's song "Rainbow" (featured on the Uncle Brothers cd "Two Big Kids")took first prize in the kidsing "2000" competition. Tommy's first solo cd, "My Candy Tree", is fast becoming a favorite of my many preschool children throughout the country. Tommy also works as an artist in residence in elementary schools throughout the U.S. Tommy has done work with the famed Theater of Light(Lincoln Center) and with Disney Radio.

He put his mark on many standard kids songs by changing or adding new lyrics to make the song stronger, but still keep them recognizable. Songs like, "Little Red Wagon", "More We Get Together", and "Itsy Bitsy Spider" all have parts the kids know, but Tom managed to sneak in some cool and important subtly messages. There's even a fun and upbeat kids medley of popular songs that kids can dance to.

Some songs have been left alone like "Workin on the Railroad" and "This Old Man", but the arrangements and production by Dan Jenks (Redondo Beach, CA) make these party favorites.

Of course, there are originals, too. "Try, Try Again" is about never giving up; "Can't Wait To Go To School" is a perfect song to address separation anxiety; "Simple Simon Says Song" is a listening and paying attention song (great for movement); and "Angel's Lullaby" is the token lullaby on the CD (a song Tom wrote and sang to his daughters when they were young

vava blitzstein.......2000-01-11

This CD is just.....so....fine. Nothing more to say, because it couldn't be better than it is. Blitzstein is a wonderful composer, and the performances are great, especially the bariton, Mr. Sharp. He never oversings, vibrato never gets out of hand, he's always down the center of the note in tune. His voice is lush, and it satisfies.

From what I can tell, Blitzstein is a great composer who was deliberately marginalized. A movie has just been released about him entitled The Cradle Will Rock, but it hasn't got to the midwest yet. Now that I've heard this recording, I can't wait to see the movie. Maybe Blitzstein's day has come.

One terrific CD that will please you over and over!.......1999-10-30

Wonderful music, wonderfully performed, this CD is a work of art.
