Product Description:
Motown Rare Groove Collection. Japanese only reissue of '73 debut album from Jackson Browne's younger brother. Originally auditioned for the label as a staff writer when he was just 21, Browne was asked by Barry Gordy himself to record for Motown. Featuring the hit single 'Darling Christina' with backing vocals from Jackson Browne and Linda Ronstadt. 2000 release. Standard jewel case.
Every track on 'This Twisted Road' elicits a different set of emotions out of its' listener.....
Right away he warns you that nothing's as it seems.....
....& this time, he's showing off his talent with a strong, 'Thinking Mans'- Delivery' style...
You'll definitely notice the strong likeness to Kenny Loggins in his title cut....
You also get a taste of Severin from the past in 'Sweet,Stupid Dreams' a song he wrote in 1978...
All in All.... 'This Twisted Road' is a strong set of hooks delivered to you through a relaxed, reflective, mystical standpoint....
The hooks get in-and stay in.....
......An easy thing to do...for a Teacher of Music, and Songwriting.
....I didn't know what to expect, listening to 'Severin Browne' for the first time-
...to my surprise, he does have a sound 'All His Own'...
A couple of the songs off 'The Edge' album sound like Juke Box bar music, from the 70's era, which is a really HIGH standard to live up to... After all, it included musicians like Tom Waits, Gordon Lightfoot....The Eagles....
..& yeah, Severin, an ol' Motown Pro, can do it too.....
(Of course, having 'James Coberly Smith' in your line up, a long time musician in his own right, doesn't hurt either)-
Other songs on this album sound like Severin sat down to specifically pen 'em out for 'The Wave'....a radio station that could put him to good use..
And of course, right away you notice that his voice is higher than Jackson's-
It's fun, at first, to make the comparisons..but if you're a Real Music lover...you come around to notice Severins' talent...
It's different-
and it's definately worth your time....
I own 'From The Edge of the World' & 'This Twisted Road'....
Jackson's brother is very fine singer/songwriter.
one of my favorite from the '70.
