Quite possibly the best album I've heard from the 1970s; timeless.......2006-09-14

Despite not getting much recognition, this album stands the test of time better than maybe any album I can think of from this decade. Other than maybe a couple of songs, every song still seems crisp enough to fit in with any era of music. I was very late to this album, never even hearing of alan hull until maybe a couple of years ago. This album sounds like what would have happened if the beatles and bob dylan made a record together, because of the style, and also hull's voice. The production is smooth, hull's voice is powerful and multi-demensional, the songs are well-crafted with many genres mixed perfectly.

I must say that I am partial to mostly newer artists, because there are several artist in the last decade (or two) that have completely drawn me in and blown my mind, such as Ryan Adams, My Morning Jacket, Flaming Lips, Elliott Smith, Olivia Tremor Control, etc. So I was surprised how connected I was to the album and at how fresh this album still sounds; it could be released today and fit in with the top bands, and also compete with any classic album. Probably the best two songs are the first and the last, with great ones scattered around in the middle. "Breakfast", the first song, sounds kind of corny at first, because he has lines describing what he's eating, literally, but it's such an awesome song that it sounds cool somehow, and the more serious lines sound more effective. One of best songs I've ever heard in my life.

For me, the great tracks are (1)Breakfast, (2)Just Another Sad Song, (5)United States of Mind, (6)Country Gentleman's Wife, (7)Numbers, (9)Drug Song, (12)I Hate to See You Cry.

The Rhythm of Life!.......2006-10-08

'Tis a wonderful piece of music. With instruments from metallophone to synthesizer, this artist truely has prospered to create the perfect harmony. I certainly enjoy New Age music, but I have ever heard none so relaxing as any other song thereof. From the day I purchased the album from this very website, I take it with me to school and listen to it to help me concentrate on an important task. As a result, I have been improving on my progress ever since. Having said this, I strongly suggest that all of you, New Age fanatics, obtain this album, for it contains melodies that will grasp on any first-time listener, as they did to me. 'Twill be a great stress reliever as well. Hear for yourselves!

This is just a treasure...it's beautiful music, it's spiritual sense...everything about it is just gorgeous!
