About the Artist
Sowah Mensah is a composer, arranger, ethnomusicologist and "Master Drummer" from Ghana. He is on the music faculty of both Macalester College and the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he also the Director of the African Music Ensembles. A native of Ghana in West Africa, Mensah has taught in both Ghana and Nigeria and played with the Ghana National Symphony Orchestra. He is also Director the Ghanaian folklore and dance ensemble Sankofa.
