About the Artist
For 10 years the Lehigh Valley Gay Men's Chorus (LVGMC) continues to entertain, build bridges and provide "safe spaces" for the community. From our humble beginnings, 10 men gathered to join their voices under the initial co-direction of Robert Roush and Steven H. Olofson. Beverly Morgan, brought us another step further in our evolution before the arrival of Dr. Kawarsky. We were privileged to present a special performance of "Sing For The Cure" for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation's national conference in Washington, D.C. in 2002 working with librettist Pamela Martin as the narrator. In 2004 LVGMC was honored to perform at a special celebration honoring the Ambassador to Luxembourg James Hormel in Philadelphia. In addition to our spring and fall concerts, LVGMC has performed at multiple community festivals, Freedom to Marry celebrations, and local churches. We have shared the stage with opera Diva Marilyn Horne, comedian Paul J. Williams, author Michael Thomas Ford, philanthropist and author Ardath Rodale, and several choruses and instrumental ensembles. We have traveled to multiple states to share our enthusiasm with other audiences. We will be performing at the GALA VIIe international choral festival in Montreal Canada (2004) as we did at GALA VIe in San Jose, CA (2000). Of course no one can forget our annual twisted winter cabarets. Our first CD, "Alec Baldwin Doesn't Love Me", which was released in 2000 was met with great accolades. We are already plotting, planning and looking forward to another exciting 10 years.

Product Description:
While choosing from our repertoire of previously performed songs for our 10th anniversary CD, a few common threads soon became apparent. Much of the music we've chosen is performed a cappella, and even those pieces with accompaniment are orchestrated minimally. Rather than a collection of the grandiose, these songs showcase a folk-world slant chronicling the human experience in a melodic and uncomplicated fashion that is particularly easy on the ears - it is, in many ways a collection of "music of the people". From the rhythmic and quick moving Dulaman, Song of the Blacksmith, and Daemon Irrepit Callidus (all a cappella), to the melodic slower moving lines of Evensong, Loving Kindness, Momma Look Sharp, and Nigra Sum - these understated songs about love, temptation, bravery, and beauty in nature and in ourselves are presented with nominal editing, truly showcasing the talents of our small choral ensemble. A hand full of light pop tracks, including the poignant Jonathan Wesley Oliver Jr., and the hysterical lyrics of Weird Al Yankovic on One More Minute, counterbalance the more traditional selections. Our placement of a commissioned secular humanist work on the same disc with the likes of Zion's Walls and Heaven may seem a bit peculiar to some, but for a group like us, it's perfectly normal. After all, we are a gay men's chorus with one female singer! The message each of these tunes brings certainly will not be embraced by everyone, but the melodic beauty they bring to the listener's ear can't be denied. It's this inclusion of many "SLICES" of different wholes that is the very essence of this celebratory collection. Enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars Cafe De Luna 2 is a Musical Summer Vacation !.......2004-10-27

The second in the Cafe De Luna series, Cafe De Luna 2: Mediterannean Chill is like a musical Summer vaction to Ibiza. This is a very cool set of pure downtempo chill-out grooves with a distinctly European flavor. This music is perfect for relaxing to while upbeat enough to keep the listener engaged. I have found this to be the perfect music for setting just the right mood at dinner parties with friends or driving along your favorite stretch of coast road on a warm summer day, or just popping on when you need a reminder that there are those unforgettable summer days that seem to drift on for an eternity. I highly recomend both this CD and it's predecessor.

Album Description

Electronic music is selling more than ever with new releases by the Chemical Brothers, Boards Of Canada, Clinic & a recent release by Crystal Method- Asphalt Jungle's debut release "Electro Ave." could not have come at a better time. It combines the writing & producing talents of Brian Tarquin (3 solo albums on Instinct Records) & Chris Ingram and incorporates funky big beats with metallic percussive guitar riffs. "Electro Ave." features MTV's "Road Rules" hit track "Witchcraft" and a re-mixed bonus version by DJ Soul Slinger & DJ Wally. It also includes "Tinsel Town" which has been heard by millions of "Making The Band" viewers. With their own unique style, Asphalt Jungle has blended live raw guitar tones with fast paced bottomless grooves.

Long time partners, Tarquin & Ingram have written the music for MTV's 1998/1999 television show "Road Rules," as well as producing music for many other TV shows including the "X-Files" and ABC's "Making The Band". The duo also has a long history in recording and producing albums together. Inspired by the early 90's London Acid Jazz & British Electronica Revolution, Tarquin & Ingram scored a top 20 hit (Billboard) with, "This Is Acid Jazz; The Best Of Acid Jazz Vol. 2" on Instinct Records. Asphalt Jungle's first ! release is a culmination of experience & desire; both Chris & Brian relish the opportunity to have `their' music finally heard- so listen up!

5 out of 5 stars Asphalt Jungle Kicks Booty.......2002-07-24

Loved the album from start to finish. The mixer of rock guitar with electronica dance grooves kicks ass!! I especially liked the dreamly electronica tune, Distant Heart, the quirky dance track, Wha Da Ding and high energy sultry track, Foxxy. A great CD to ROCK OUT with!! A CD that has won a place in my car cd changer. Hope you guys keep making music!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Over the top!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2002-07-12

This album should have been the soudtrack to that armwrestling movie called "over the top" because it gets you PUMPED UP! Arm- breaking beats mixed with tendon-rippin' metal guitar riffs. It's hot I tell you. If you ever liked anything Crystal Method did or the Chemical Bros. buy this and prepare to be impressed, because it's more intense than anything those guys ever did.

5 out of 5 stars Uncle Dave searches for the perfect woman.......2004-05-04

I heard the Waco Brothers a few years ago on college radio in RI and got some of their CDs from the Bloodshot site and really liked them BUT this record blows my freakin' lid off. They've teamed up with Uncle Dave, some dude they used to hang out with in DC back in the day and he's come up with all these sensitive wordy country ballads and neanderthal rock anthems about his mid-life crisis. Hilarious stuff. He dreams up a fantasy woman for his future Uncle Dave wife and by the end of the album realizes she has to be killed before he can be free or happy or both. But it's OK 'cos she's not real, I geuss. The Wacos never sounded better and the rocking never stops. Uncle Dave has one of those weird non-singer story-teller voices that creeps up on you and gets in your skull! Perfect listening for unemployable single drunks staring down the barrel at 50... Where Does Love Go When It's Gone could be a hit for the Mavericks or Dwight.

1 out of 5 stars Anyone giving this CD 5 stars is either a friend of hers or gay, or both!.......2007-04-07

I would be doing a great disservice to the Amazon community if I recommended this gem and gave it a high score. i will not lie: Phoebe Ledger (real name) does indeed have a very nice voice, better suited for lounge, jazzy music, but not for mainstream rock or pop. Since the cd is only 35 cents, if you;re really curious, go ahead and buy it, but within 3 days you'll place it back on the sales block for less, maybe a quarter. I am writing this review in 2007. She's been singing in 3rd rate dives for over 18 years now. She's poor, she's white, she's talented, and she can sing. So what's wrong? Her material sucks! She may be famous in the NYC underground, but it's hard to pay the bills on fame and crumbs. Still, I rank her higher than Yoko, Putanna Madonna, Xtina and britney. I rank Cyndi Lauper higher only becuase she had a few hit songs that still reosnate with the public ("True Colors").

4 out of 5 stars Expect the unexpected.......2006-07-31

Phoebe is a force to be reckoned with. She's got a stellar voice, has excellent songwriting chops, and is virtuosic at piano and accordion (which is not necessarily a pop/cabaret instrument). This album, while a bit more produced than her prior efforts, has the same honest and experimental spirit of her prior releases. The only drawback to this album (other than the, seemingly, lack of promotion) is her re-working of "Amazing Love," which did not require the inclusion of a rap and a reggae beat to make it accessible (check out her original version on her albums credited to Phoebe Legere and her Hot Hunks, which had a more choral backing). All in all, Phoebe is an artist one can never pigeonhole -- great vocalist and instrumentalist, and always willing to push the envelope. Viva La Legere!

5 out of 5 stars what can one say about her beautiful voice.......2006-07-07

having witnessed her vocal powers many times in new york city, it would be safe to say, she is one of the seven wonders of the vocal world.

5 out of 5 stars Phoebe Legere ALL HER ALBUMS & LIVE SHOWS.......2002-02-16

PHOEBE LEGERE HAS GOT WHAT IT TAKES AND MUCH MUCH MORE TO ATTRACT MAJOR LABELS. SHE HAS GOT THE SOUND OF AN ANCIENT YET FUTURISTIC WORLD MANTIFESTED AND MATERIALIZED. ALWAYS ON TOP OF THE RARE ARTISTIC MOUNTAIN OF FLUID SEXUAL, SERIOUS, EMOTIONALLY STIMULATING, GOLD. PHOEBE LEGERE HAS GOT WHAT NOT MANY ARTISTS HAVE, AND THAT IS PURE GUTS, DARING, PROFESSIONAL, OUTSTANDING MUSIC AND AWESOME VOCALS. I WOULD ADVISE EVERYONE, AND EVERY LABLE TO CHECK OUT ALL THE CD'S,& MOVIES OF THIS RARE BEAUTIFUL GIFT FROM GOD. WHO PUTS EVERYTHING SHES GOT INTO HER WORKS ,
PLUS A DASH OF REAL INOVATIVE MIND BOGGLING SPICE FROM HER GIFTED SOUL. SHE PLAYS GUITAR, PIANO, ACCORDIAN, PLUS PLUS PLUS. I'VE SEEN HER SHOWS LIVE, AND MET HER IN NEW YORK CITY, LISTENED TO HER POUR MAGIC INTO HER PRIVATE REHEARSALS. I AM A NEW PERSONAL FRIEND AND ADMIRER OF PHOEBE LEGERE. WHO WAS INVITED TO FILM LIVE SHOWS FOR REVIEW. DON'T YOU MISS OUT ON PHOEBE'S TALENT. IF JONI MITCHELL IS READING THIS SHE WOULD MOST PROBLEBLY SAY. YES PHOEBE IS A GIFT TO OUR WORLD.

5 out of 5 stars Great original songs, great singer with a great voice too.......1999-06-29

Phoebe is a great talent. The songs themselves are interesting and witty, the delivery is great (Phoebe has a great voice), and the album production is quite good. It's just a shame that promotion of the album has been nonexistent - Phoebe's great, hopefully enough people will find out about her to keep the albums coming... BTW - Phoebe's into modern Swing now...

5 out of 5 stars Brings back good songs!.......1999-09-07

This album reminds me of the good old days when Cole Porter, the Gershwins and others used to write music that 'sang' with lyrics people could remember and enjoy. I love this CD.

5 out of 5 stars Glaser has his own style, and he writes wonderful songs.......1999-02-07

-- Don Glaser doesn't have any dedications on his new album, "Slices of Life." But if he did, candidates for recognition would have to include Bob Dorough and Mose Allison. Particularly Dorough, for Glaser -- like both of them a piano-playing singer -- writes songs with the same delightful and ironic twists and dips as Dorough (who wrote the jazz standard, "I've Got Just About Everything.") Glaser's voice is also similar to Dorough -- a strongly nasal tenor. In his singing, too, he emulates Dorough's short phrases. But this is no Dorough rip-off or tribute -- Glaser has his own style, and he writes wonderful songs -- a lot of them, too: 13 of the 16 here. They're light, swinging numbers with catchy melodies and sassy lyrics. In fact, if you were to sum up Glaser's music in a single phrase, "fun jazz" might be it. Songs like "Strawberry Jam" and "Moving" both bounce and engage in the kind of sly, even flirtatious word play that Allison has made into a career. And not since Randy Newman's "Dayton, Ohio - 1903" has an obscure town gotten as swinging a tribute as Glaser's "Teaneck, N.J." Actually, the Newman comparison is apt, because, as with the man who had hits with "Short People" and "You've Got a Friend" (from the Disney movie "Toy Story,") Glaser's outstanding piano playing often gets overlooked in favor of his singing and songs. At least Glaser gets a chance to show off his keyboard skills on a couple of cuts where his wife, Carol, sits in at the microphone. It's this overall combination of strengths -- singing, piano playing, writing great tunes -- that make this album such a lovely listen. Every once in a while a uniquely mischievous sound will slither out of the radio and insulate the dark recesses of the public's conscious (examples being NIN's "Closer" and Fiona Apple's "Criminal"). Idle Mirth specializes in these slices of sultry, neo-psychedelic darkness. A swirling cocoon of ethereal yet impacting melody, loaded with percolating electro-ticks and wiry, creative guitar.
