Songs like mr.tapeworm,im glad im not a girl,crippled children suck,lesbian death dirge,dumping ground and middle aged youth are absolute classics. the cd may not be the best produced and sounds a little like a demo tape, but every song has a catchy riff and just makes you want to keep listening. the songs are all really diferent and ALL of them are good. i would definely recomend this cd. as a matter of fact THIS CD RULES!!

A rare gem in a sea of crap.......2004-10-03

The meatmen...along with the dead kenedys, milkmen, ramones...and a small handful of others are the only true punk rockers ever. EVER! This album is probably one of the biggest influences in who I am today. A real big jerk. With brilliant and marvelous classics such as "Mr. Tape Worm, Crippled Children Suck, French People Suck, Camel Jockeys Suck, Tooling for anus, The Meat Men Stomp, Dance to the music(Yes, it's a cover)and tons and tons and tons of others...you'll be begging for more. And saying that I assume you're just as cynical, hateful, sadistic, maniacal, and sin drenched as myself. Tesco Vee is my hero. I hope he finds the 6-demon bag and becomes...like a dream.

Absolutely essential scat-punk for high-brow intellectuals. How could anyone not love this classic material? Just look at the song titles! Plus cover-art that would give any regular He-Man a throbbing bulge in his pants!

Any one who gives this cd 1 star (music fan) is an ugly woman. This cd is pure energy and you just dont see that any more. The Meatmen were an extreme band that didn't follow the rules of music making. How refreshing.

Ministry's early career is either a dirty secret or a case of abandoned potential, depending on how you see things--that is, depending on whether you're a dirtbag or a wimp. As a wimp with dirtbag tendencies, I can see both sides of the question. On one hand, while Ministry's early new wave radio hits were never quite as convincing as, say, Depeche Mode's or Blancmange's, or Men Without Hats', or whosever, Ministry were the only serious entries America had in the poof-wave sweepstakes (save the one-hit Combo Audio)--and they had great hooks besides. Worth it!.......2007-04-21

I know many of you Ministry fans like to knock the early stuff, but those of us who knew them from the get-go appreciate all they've done. I have been trying to get a hold of "Cold Life" for ages to pod it. Now I finally have it along with other great stuff like "Every Day Is Halloween." This CD is worth buying.

80s Synth/Techno Pop.......2007-04-03

If you were to hand Alain Jourgenson a copy of this CD he would probably break it. Even with the 80s syntho cheese factor the music is good and fun but, not as good as when Mr. J got really pissed off. These are classic 80s tracks and definitely a must for any diehard 80s fan. Everyday Is Halloween is such a classic.

Gems of the past.......2006-08-14

I write this review because so many people are getting it wrong. The founder of the group was raised in Chicago. At that time chicago house music was on fire. I remember going to lots of clubs (i.e. Dome Room and Club Neo)and ministry 12 inch tracks were played a lot. Neo still rocks this scene. Anybody who knows real chicago house will definitely know these tracks. Calling it synth pop is not accurate.

strange, cold & ahead of it's time!.......2006-07-18

5 stars for 'Cold Life' alone! by far, it's the best track in the hole career of Ministry!!! a great one with some strange mixes of slapping funk bass & jazz trumpet plus some cold voices & guitars meets new wave synths. a strange amalgam but it works!

halloween is a classic song.......2005-08-13

both the single and +10-minute versions of halloween are amazing. it's basically the anthem for anyone who has ever felt like or been called a freak. you can feel the defiance, yet insecurities, of the outcast, and these emotions are captured beautifully in this song. such a great piece of music.

A GREAT Way to Discover a GREAT Band.......2005-12-05

I bought this boxed set 6 months ago and have been very happy with it. It is a 6 disc set that comprises of the Hanoi Rocks first 5 albums (Bangkok Shocks, Oriental Beat, Self Destruction Blues, Back to Mystery City, and Two Steps from the Move) as well as their live release "All Those Wasted Years". The sound quality is excellent. If I had any complaints, I think they could have put some extra tracks on each of the albums, and maybe that the CDs come in flimsy cardboard cases instead of the conventional plastic ones. However, to be fair, the reason that this is a great purchase is that you can get the first six Hanoi Rocks releases for a little over $20! And their music is great fun 80's glam.

Good, but..........2005-07-06

...Streetpunk would get much better. There are some great songs on here, such as "Give Me Fire" and "No Survivors", but lets face it, later streetpunk bands would really improve on this bands sound. Just compare this cd with A Global Threat's "What the F*ck Will Change" and you'll see what I mean. Not a bad collection by any means, and certanitley worth the money, the sound is just a bit dated. If you love streetpunk you should get this.

i remember when............2002-07-06

....i first bought this title; i actually got it on casette ( i hadnt' bought into the neuvo idea of compact discs' yet.)it didnt' matter that i already had "leather bristles, no-survivors..." " city baby attacked..." and, "city baby's revenge" which is what this title is mostly comprised of. i grabbed it just because it had "give me fire" ' one of the roughest toughest punk singles that had ever reached these eardrums at the time. over all its a great comp. 'it takes you thru thier earliest efforts all the way to the brink of when Charged G.B.H. fully matured into just straight G.B.H.! the almighty clay years.

THE REAL DEAL: GBH.......2000-06-10

Nothing compares to GBH in terms of hardcore sound. Definitely much better than Discharge. I've listened to GBH songs for 15 years now and I never get tired of it. This is a good sized collection of songs although it did leave a lot of the other good stuff out like "Bellend Bop", "Boston Babies", "Do What You Do","Alcohol" and "Prayer of a Realist". On the other hand, it has quite a lot of the other tunes here that are good like "Generals" and "I'm the Hunted". To all the kids out there who want to learn and experience hardcore music from my generation of the 80s, stick to the old GBH which is this one. Get this CD and if you can find a CD of City Baby Attacked By Rats, by all means pick that one up too.

THIS COLLECTION EASILY DEFINES WHAT EARLY UK HARDCORE WAS ABOUT. THIS COLLECTION COULD PROBABLY GIVE THE EXPLOITED A RUN FOR THEIR MONEY. IF YOU HAPPENED TO COME ACROSS NEW "GBH", IGNORE IT- THIS IS THE STUFF YOU REALLY WANT!
