Editorial Reviews
Leinweber has appeared on numerous recordings. He is frequently sought for weddings, civic functions, and educational venues. As a veteran rock and country guitarist, Leinwebers bottleneck and lead guitar work have been featured in Benefit Concerts where he has shared the stage with figures like Derek St. Holmes.
An Associate Professor of History, Dr. Leinweber also enjoys sharing his interest in the stories of the hymns with congregations. Many people have appreciated his remarks about such popular hymnists as Fanny Crosby, William Bradbury, Charles Wesley, and George Bennard.
Our Hymnal Heritage was recorded at Doppler Recording Studio in Atlanta, and at Dogwood Recording Studio in Conyers, GA. Oasis CD Manufacturing provided graphic design, CD replication, and packaging.
Product Description:
Our Hymnal Heritage is the guitar sequel to David Leinwebers 2003 piano CD, Sunday Morning Favorites. Following the popular Sunday Morning Favorites approach of performing straightforward instrumental versions of hymns with feeling and dignity, Leinweber now brings his worshipful, easy-going musical stylings to the guitar.
Our Hymnal Heritage highlights many of the great hymns of the faith with a variety of guitar-based arrangements, including favorites like "Showers of Blessing," "Wayfaring Stranger," "He Hideth My Soul" and "Amazing Grace." It draws on a range of guitar techniques, including flatpicking, folk, Nashville country, and laid-back Southern Rock.
Our Hymnal Heritage also includes an unlisted bonus track.
Leinweber plays all the instruments on Our Hymnal Heritage. Through the magic of studio over-dubbing, several tracks combine his tasteful electric lead-guitar work with backup on bass guitar, the Hammond B-3 organ, the Fender Rhodes, acoustic guitars, and piano.
