Album Description

Long before there was The OC, there was The Offspring, formed by a pair of Orange County high school buddies back in '84 following a show in Irvine by local legends Social Distortion. Almost two decades, six albums and 32 million records later, those two pals, vocalist/guitarist Dexter Holland and bassist Greg K, along with fellow classmate (and school custodian) guitarist Noodles, are still delivering. Greatest Hits collects together some of theri most memeorable moments, including "Hit That", "The Kids Aren't Alright" and the massive hit, "Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)".

4 out of 5 stars easily could have been a five star album if.............2007-05-26

they included at least 6 more songs to sweeten the deal. although the track listing is not bad its not the greatest either a very predictable track listing for that matter. they could of made this a double album with all of offspring's great tracks. like for instance my personal favorite that should be on here shes got issues, bad habbit, even though not a radio hit still a fan favorite, I Choose (another personal radio favorite), and a couple of songs from Ignition and there self-titled whats wrong with those 2 albums. I never realized they left off shes got issues until someone pointed it out because I thought they would have to add that song. some deep cuts would have been nice but this is a good introduction to anyone who wants to get to know the offspring. this is just another mediocre greatest hits album buy the rest of offspring's other cds to get the full experience with the band there radio hits aren't there best work. I'd start off with Conspiracy of One if you like mainstream offspring, otherwise if you want a raw feel get Smash and Ixnay on the Hombre. These are all great songs but it could have been better if they added more songs instead of making it short like every offspring album.

3 out of 5 stars Hey, I don't own it, but the tracklisting..........2006-11-22

...isn't too impressive. Sure, it has all their popular songs... but seriously, Americana was a pretty disappointing album on the whole (especially the singles). The tracks on this album are acceptable for an introduction to the Offspring (Can't Repeat is a great new track, too, and should replace Green Day's Good Riddance as the classic graduation song...), but really, I'd recommend picking up Smash and Ixnay to hear the entire albums, which are hardly featured in this collection. They're the best ones out there. So yeah... I'll rate this three stars, not because it's disappointing, but simply to deter customers from buying it and instead getting the goods! Sure, though, yeah... a nice intro for the "highlights" of the Offspring's musical journey.

4 out of 5 stars Great ... not so great for greatest hits.......2006-08-18

I first would like to say I am not an avid fan of The Offspring but I was familier with some of their songs. This album really should contain more songs, especially since the one disc can hold many more. That being said, all the songs on here are great, but I do expect a little more from a greatest hits album ... Where is Bad Habit?

4 out of 5 stars Offspring Rocks!!!.......2006-08-05

And so does this compilation. It has most of their hits and features 1 previously unreleased song, a song that was previously only available on a soundtrack, a remix of the "The Kids Aren't Alright"(atleast the european version has it) plus a hidden track! Ofcourse you could say that there could have been more songs on it and some essential songs are missing, but thats the nature of greatest hits compilations. There isn't a single greatest hits compilation out there that doesn't suffer from the same problems. And the songs that are on it are all either good or great so you can't go wrong with this one.

5 out of 5 stars Offspring, Greatest Hits.......2006-03-17

Excelent CD, wonderful songs! Absolutly, the "greatest hits" I would reccomend this product to anyone who likes punk music. Quality of product was excelent, and i was overall very impressed with this purchase overall.

Amazon.com essential recording

Call them the Nine Inch Nails of punk. Like NIN, the Offspring preserve the essential ingredients of their chosen genre--guitars grinding out three chords, shouted vocals, and plenty of vitriol--and layer them over a melodic base that packs considerable popular appeal. The singles from Smash, the Offspring's breakthrough album, still receive considerable radio airplay: "Gotta Get Away," "Come Out and Play," and "Self Esteem." With these and Smash's 11 other tracks, the band chronicles the adolescent experience with clarity and surprisingly incisive wit. That pretty much describes all of their albums, but this is the one to get. It's got more shape than their earlier material and isn't as disturbingly poppy as their more recent recordings; it's the perfect blend of riffs and rage. --Genevieve Williams

Amazon.com

Yes, they (along with Green Day) finally brought skate-rock into the world of John Q. Mallrat, but the Offspring were hardly spring chickens at the time of this breakthrough album's release. They'd been slogging away since 1987, a span that allowed them to amass all the clever tricks showcased here, most notably the Latino-rap/moshpit-riff mega-hit "Come Out and Play." Just about every track on the disc (the band's third, if you were counting) keeps that careful balance between aggression and accessibility, from the surf-punk self- help rant of "Self-Esteem" to the airy ska-pop of "What Happened to You?" If Green Day are the '90s punk equivalent of the Beatles, and Rancid its Rolling Stones, the Offspring might be its Monkees--remembered for nothing more important than simple, indelible pop. --David Sprague

5 out of 5 stars Timeless.......2007-04-06

Arguably one of the most influential rock albums of the 90s by one of the best bands. Smash, easily Offspring's best album to date came out at a time when Nirvana's Nevermind and Green Day's Dookie albums rocked the radio. Definitely all classics, worthy of 5 stars. Smash is raw energy in every one of Dexters vocals and Noodles' guitar riffs. Relentless fast paced hard hitting tracks that can get you pumped for anything you do, not a weak song on the cd. A** kickers like Bad Habit (the whole thing is about road rage, you dont hear that much), the popular Self Esteem, and my favorite It'll Be A Long Time. Through and through an iconic masterpiece. If you dont have this cd, go get it, NO EXCEPTIONS. Anyways "it's time to relax and you know what that means a glass of wine your favorite easy chair and ofcourse this compact disc playing on your home stereo".

5 out of 5 stars AWESOME ALBUM, AWESOME BAND.......2007-02-20

this album is genius. beautifully crafted, good guitar tunes, but dexter's whine is very common in this album, and it can get annoying, especially in self esteem. but that song still rocks. so does come out and play. so does bad habit. so does genocide. so does what happened to you. and many many others.

5 out of 5 stars classic.......2007-02-14

My first c.d. i ever bought when i was [...].......and till this day at 25--- i still pop this cd in my car and enjoy every song on it....and its one of those albums that everyone knows and loves amongst my friends....if you dont have it...go and order it cause its a classic...

4 out of 5 stars Solid skate punk,but.......2007-01-10

anyone notice that "Gotta Get Away"'s verse parts are sung in the same way as Nirvana's "About a Girl" verse parts? I heard it on the radio today, and I wanted to sing "About a girl" but of course, Offspring's lyrics were different.

5 out of 5 stars The Offspring's Greatest Album.......2006-11-22

Hi. The Offspring have two stand-out albums, Ixnay on the Hombre and Smash. Of those two, of which both are amazing, Smash is slightly better. The only track I don't dig is Killboy Powerhead. Ixnay has one weak spot, too, that being Don't Pick It Up. If it didn't have lyrics, this song might be tolerable... but I can't stand it for some reason. So yeah. If you want to discover what the Offspring are really about, get this album (or Ixnay, or better yet, both!). Americana is a joke. Splinter is weak. Conspiracy of One is acceptable. Ignition and the self-titled first album are both good, too, but they can't compare with Smash and Ixnay. Both are timeless. Grab 'em and forget the pop-culture mockery from Americana which wears itself out quickly...

Maybe hanging out with Jello Biafra put the fun-loving spring in Offspring's step. Or perhaps it was just the royalty checks, hot babes, and fast cars. Whatever the case, the band's fourth record, Americana, is its most lively offering to date, replacing angst and rage with energy and sarcasm. The novelty single "Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)" matches infectious riffing and shout-along vocals with fly-girl chants of "Give it to me, baby" and lyrics about wannabe scenesters; and a storming punk-rock version of Morris Albert's "Feelings" sees the band hitting a new level of, er, (in)sensitivity. Elsewhere, the humor is slightly more subtle; "She's Got Issues" cops a new-wave guitar line from the Cars songbook, "The Kids Aren't Alright" opens like an Iron Maiden anthem, and "Why Don't You Get a Job?" is a blatant reggae-style spoof of the Beatles' "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da." Musically, Americana offers no real revelations, but the songs are a bit craftier and more diverse than the rest of the Offspring oeuvre, veering haphazardly between anthemic punk metal, blistering hardcore, and near-psychedelic experimentation. --Jon Wiederhorn

5 out of 5 stars Another good one!.......2006-09-02

The Offspring has so far yet to put out an album that really disappoints me. I haven't heard Ignition so I can't really say much about that but I have heard everything they've released since Smash and most are at least good. This release however is better than good, its very good. No it may not be as amazing as Smash but it does have a lot of great tracks. My favorites are "Staring at the Sun", "The Kids aren't alright", "She's Got Issues", and "Pay The Man". Here's ratings for the rest of the album...

2. Have You Ever - 9/10
3. Staring At The Sun - 10/10
4. Pretty Fly (For A White Guy) - 10/10
5. The Kids Aren't Alright - 10/10
6. Feelings - 9.5/10
7. She's Got Issues - 10/10
8. Walla Walla - 8/10
9. The End Of The Line - 9/10
10. No Brakes - 7.5/10
11. Why Don't You Get A Job? - 9.5/10
12. Americana - 8.5/10
13. Pay The Man - 10/10

Overall, It isn't the best by the band but it still is an accomplished release. I'm a big fan of this band but from what I've seen it may not please some of the fans who enjoy their earlier stuff like Smash. I think Smash is their best but I do enjoy their newer stuff as well even though its just slightly different in sound. I guess that slight change is enough to tick people off. Anyway, get this if your a fan of some of the tracks or just the band itself.

2 out of 5 stars fair...just fair.......2006-07-31

the offspring..a band who draws inspiration from some of the best music around(the damned, TSOL, agent orange, adolescents, and DI), have great record label that is responsible for new records/re-issues from TSOL, The Damned, and other great legendary punk artists, and a band who used to be really great punk revival have truly disappointed me with records like this.

i fell in love with the offspring when i bought smash..after that, i proceeded to collect ignition and ixnay.and still, i loved them..but i was iffy on this..i mean i knew of songs like pretty fly and why dont you get a job and how bad they were, but songs like kids arent alright made me a buyer...i must say, i was rather impressed with this and decided that i underrated it...that was 3 years ago.

now, i think this album is just okay..i mean its good enough to be able to warrant a stay on my windows media player on my laptop, but as for keeping the disc, it isnt.

i say get this..get it cheap..rip it to your comp and then sell off. it gets old fast.

5 out of 5 stars One of the all time greats...........2006-07-09

of punk rock cds. This is a very fast in your face album with sometimes funny lyrics: Shes got issues, walla walla. However the best offspring song is on this disc: The kids arent alright.
Without the last track this disc would be barely 20 minutes long!
However even with the last song this album kicks so much @$$! If you dont have it what are you waiting for go and buy it NOW!
This is the band that got me into punk rock in the first place and now im enjoying albums by the likes of pennywise, bad religion (best punk rock band ever!), millencolin and the bouncing souls, rancid NOFX etc...

4 out of 5 stars yeah, they sold out. but -.......2006-07-06

the offspring has completely changed compared to their older albums (smash, the offspring, ignition), but this is a good CD still. but "pretty fly (for a white guy)", and "why don't you get a job?", in my opinion kill it! i mean "pretty fly" can be a good song - but if you heard the offspring before like i did - you would reject them for awhile!

welcome: 10/10 i don't really know why though
have you ever: 9/10 two part song - i think the second part is better
staring at the sun: 7/10 not a favorite. i get bored of it really easily.
pretty fly (fly for a white guy): 7/10 okay i guess, but a sell-out
the kids aren't alright: 10/10 awesome song! the intro is just fricken' awesome - and there's just so much truth to the song! real fun to play on guitar!
feelings: 7/10 once again not a favorite...little emo.
she's got issues: 10/10 one of the better songs on the album.
walla walla: 10/10 good speed and good lyrics
the end of the line: 8/10 good song, but it just doesn't hit me as a great one, but it also has good lyrics.
no breaks: 9/10 the chorus draws you to listen to the song
why don't you get a job?: 5/10 good lyrics - but to me the ska they have to it kinda make it sound like: what the f***? but nothing against ska - trust me!
americana: 10/10 i like the intro to this one too. the overall song has a great sound and tone. the lyrics are awesome.
pay the man: 10/10 once again the intro wins it over for me! but when the song actually starts, it has a good sound to it.

so overall, good CD, but if you want to hear the genuine offspring, listen to: the offspring, ignition, and smash!

4 out of 5 stars Great album.......2006-06-03

The Offspring changed their style a bit. Songs such as "Pretty Fly For a White Guy," and "Why Don't You Get A Job?" is the new Offspring, while, "Staring at the Sun," (my personal favorite) "She's Got Issues," and "The Kids Aren't Alright." is the old Offspring. If you like the last couple, I suggest Ixnay on the Hombre and Splinter before another Offspring album. Staring At The Sun is a great song, in my opinion, one of the best by Offspring.

5 out of 5 stars Great Compilation.......2007-01-31

This is one of the Best 'Greatest Hits' Albums I've purchased in a long time. Because I didn't get into 'The Offspring' until recently, I thought I'd get the 'Greatest Hits' to make up for all the songs I didn't have. It proved to be one of the best things I did. Everysong that I loved was on it, for 'The Kids Aren't Alright' to 'Want You Bad'.
For new fans like myself, this is a good starter, but I recommend that you buy there previous works such as 'Conspiracy of One' as well. For the older fans, its one you just want to have as part of the collection.

1 out of 5 stars CD side doesn't play.......2007-01-24

The Dual Disc idea is awesome except the cd side doesn't conform to normal cd standards and there fore doesn't work in any of my cd players except 1. However the DVD side works just fine. What a waste. I can't even put this CD on my Mp3 player for snowboarding. Oh well I guess I will have to illegally download the songs that I payed for so that I can listen to them.

I think we can all agree that the only good Offspring songs are the one's they play on the radio. Finally you can have them all on one CD. The best part of this collection is that they skipped any filler, such as rare or new tracks.

Amazon.com essential recording

Every generation of high schoolers needs a band to express the angst and agony specific to 14-to-18-year-olds. At present, that band is the Offspring. Their songs are aimed squarely at a younger crowd, from "The Meaning of Life" to "Leave It Behind" to "I Choose," and especially "All I Want" and "Change the World". Their occasionally insightful lyrics are anything but obscure, which is actually refreshing; there's real pain behind "Gone Away," and "Way Down the Line" taps into the common fear among the younger crowd of turning out just like our parents. Musically, the Offspring are hardly complex, but then complexity isn't a requirement. This is music to play at full volume, bang your head to, and annoy your neighbors. Cool. -- Genevieve Williams

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars The last great album from the Offspring.......2006-12-08

It was pretty steep to top "Smash", but the Offspring still managed to pump out an excellent album with "Ixnay on the Hombre"; the last great album to come from the band. "The Meaning of Life", "Leave It Behind", and "I Choose" are great, while "Mota", "All I Want", and "Way Down the Line" are fist pumping songs that harken back to the Offspring's classic punk days. Smash single "Gone Away" is still a great song, and besides the humerous clips "Disclaimer" and "Intermission", there's really no real filler tracks here. "Ixnay on the Hombre" is a fantastic look back at a time before the Offspring became mainstream darlings with "Americana", a time when Dexter Holland's lyrics still had some meaning to them and the chords and riffs weren't written to be radio friendly. Though there are times when you can sense a nig difference, and a bit of a step down, from the Offspring's earlier, and best, material, "Ixnay on the Hombre" still manages to be a superbly crafted disc, with the only real downside being that it has to come to an end.

5 out of 5 stars Great Release, Similar to Smash's style........2006-09-02

Each Offspring album is a bit different in its own small way. Although, this is the one probably most like their breakthrough masterpiece Smash. If you enjoyed Smash a lot, like I did, then this should be the next in line for you to try out. Not saying that their newer stuff is somehow not as good, they just have a slightly different sound that the earlier two. This follow up just shows how The Offspring are keeping their punk rock style sound strong with each release. It's also a really good follow up album. My favorite tracks are probably "Gone Away", "I Choose", "Amazed", and "Me & My Old Lady". Here's everything else rated...

2. The Meaning Of Life - 9.5/10
3. Mota - 9/10
4. Me & My Old Lady - 10/10
5. Cool To Hate - 10/10
6. Leave It Behind - 8.5/10
7. Gone Away - 10/10
8. I Choose - 10/10
10. All I Want - 9/10
11. Way Down The Line - 7.5/10
12. Don't Pick It Up - 9/10
13. Amazed - 10/10
14. Change The World - 10/10

It's just another solid release from The Offspring. If you enjoyed Smash you will probably enjoy this as well. It's just another good release by a pretty awesome punk rock band.

3 out of 5 stars average...large decline gets started........2006-08-02

ignition, smash, and self-titled are amazing albums!...but what about this? the follow-up to smash....not nearly as bad as the dreck that came after this album, but nowhere near as good as anything before.

the thing that makes it a decent album is the fact that it get boring really fast...i did, at one time, think this was their best, but listening to it next to smash, i saw it for the ugly alternative radio rock that it was. it has some interesting tidbits in it, but nothing to keep me coming back for more..let alone warranting itself a stay in my cd collection.

hopefully, offspring will take a hint from bad religion and make more music worthy of their former smash era status..but then again, bad religion were even great on a major label themselves.

5 out of 5 stars awesome offspring album!.......2006-07-19

this has got to one of the offspring's best CDs, next to smash, and ignition! some of the songs like: "me & my old lady", "mota", "cool to hate", and "don't pick it up", are kind of wierd, but the other songs are awesome! some of the best include: "the meaning of life", "gone away", "i choose", "amazed", "all i want", "change the world", and just all the other songs that i didn't say was weird. the intro song is awesome, because it's spoken by jello biafra - and dead kennedys are like one of my favorite bands - so that's a huge plus! i think this is like more of an expiremental re-make of smash, and i'm just glad they didn't over do it, they just did it right. so anyways, if you're new to the offspring, you might wanna start with smash, or ignition, so you can get a better taste of their true sound. but if you already know who the offspring is - get this now!

5 out of 5 stars classic album from when they were good.......2006-02-23

Ignition, Smash, and Ixnay are their three best. If you don't want to believe me, take a look at the other reviews on this site. I'm glad to see that most people seem to agree with me on this.

Ixnay is essentially Smash with some experimentation mixed in. Songs like Mota and Me & My Old Lady are a bit "weird", and I think this is why some people don't like them, but both songs have really rockin' choruses. Me & My Old Lady has that annoying ball & chain refrain, sure, but it also has the great Offspring surf guitar sound.

I give this album five stars because of two songs, "Gone Away" and "Amazed". These songs are more than just "slow stuff" to balance the fast songs. "Gone Away" is an emotional wringer. If you can listen to a song about loss and let go, and not feel sappy, you will love this song. It is a simple song musically but it is a classic. "Amazed" is much of the same, but is a little less strong.

The rest of the songs in this album are Smash-style rockers, but less strong overall with uninspired tracks like "Cool to Hate" and "Way Down the Line", which may be entertaining lyrically, but are musically un-interesting.

I would strongly recommended that anyone, not just pop-punk fans, listen to this album. This music isn't just for kids. The Offspring is pretty much the only band that I listened to during my high school days that I still listen to now. You'd think that a CD like Ixnay would get old. but it hasn't, because this isn't your run-of-the-mill pop rock.

2 out of 5 stars 50 steps down.......2007-04-29

i'll tell everyone about this album. im gonna sum it up in 1 word "it sucked" and why? because the offspring have been a band for 20 years, and in thoes 20 years, we have seen some of the best work, toching lyrics, and lyrics about everyday life. and each album (from self titled, to conspiracy of one) we have gotten about 13-15 songs on each and every album. but now we get this crap, 10 songs (neocon, and when your in prison dont count) and with only 4 good songs on it (the noose, never gonna find me, lightning rod, and da hui)

the other songs (long way home, hit that, race againset myself, spare me the details, the worst hang over ever, and when your in prison) were all songs that hurt the album. im not saying they were bad songs, but its not somthing thats not appropriate, and have no meaning to them at all.

3 out of 5 stars Splinter is just okay........2006-09-02

I've been a fan of this band since I heard Smash. Everything they had done up to this point was at least good to great. With this release I just dont feel it as much as with the others. It has some pretty good tracks but I find myself getting sick of them a little too fast. The cd isn't horrible but it isn't great either. It's just an average release. This is the Offspring's first release that I had been slightly disappointed with. Not only do you get sick of the singles quickly but the songs don't have the best lyrics either. I also agree with what other people were saying about about the album. It does have somewhat of an annoying immaturity to it. "Da Hui" espeically is a track that I despise and "The Worst Hangover Ever" isn't a bad sounding track, the lyrics are just silly. Another problem I found with the album is that It just seems to short. The first track doesn't even feel like an actual track and the last two can barely even be considered songs. It's still okay though and probably worth checking out if you love the band as I do. My favorite tracks from the album are "Hit That", "Race Against Myself", "(Can't Get My) Head Around You", and "Lightning Rod". Here's all of my ratings...

1. Neocon - 8/10
2. The Noose - 8/10
3. Long Way Home - 8/10
4. Hit That - 9.5/10
5. Race Against Myself - 10/10
6. (Can't Get My) Head Around You - 10/10
7. The Worst Hangover Ever - 7/10
8. Never Gonna Find Me - 8/10
9. Lightning Rod - 9.5/10
10. Spare Me the Details - 8.5/10
11. Da Hui - 2/10
12. When You're in Prison - 6/10

Overall: 78% C+

If you're going to get this and have no prior experience with this band other than the few radio tracks from this album you heard you might end up being disappointed. If your a long time fan of the band you will probably be disappointed with this as well but not as bad as others.

5 out of 5 stars One of my favourites.......2006-08-08

I can't believe how many people are bummed with this CD! It shows that the group has matured and has learned from their mistakes. After listening to Ixnay and Americana in my home gym for 3 months straight, I got this CD, mostly for "Da Hui". (I saw the video on their website and liked it straight away.) Although I was initially disappointed in the length, I got over it and I like every song on this disc.

Things get off to a rollicking start with "Neocon". The musical imagery suggests the Zanarkand blitzball stadium, all lit up at night, with the cheering crowd, and the band at the center of it all. "The Noose" shows some older colour that Offspring is known for, while keeping up with the times (after all, they MUST adapt with the changing taste of the public or they will be gone). I found "Worst Hangover" to be amusing, but I can imagine being annoyed upon repitition of it. Perhaps they were making fun of ska music? "Lightning Rod" (very reminiscent of "Dammit I changed again" but better) is quite fast and entertaining, and definitely imaginative. "Spare Me the Details" is quite goofy but cute. Why does Dexter keep dating these loser girls that just mess with him??
I was disappointed to not hear the hula record preceding "Da Hui", but when I realized that it was just for the video, I managed to accept it as is. "When you're in prison" is quite funny. I own a lot of gramophone recordings, and this sounds just like one, but Dexter's Californian accent gives away that something isn't quite right with the age of the recording.
But that's all a matter of sheer interest! I just wonder what the heck Dexter was thinking when he authored this song.
In conclusion, it's a good disc, although a bit too short. But what I don't see people acknowledging in their reviews is this: Pop it into the disk drive of your computer and watch what happens. You get Offspring wallpaper, a tour of their studio for Splinter, and the "Da Hui" video. This explains the 30 minute disc. According to their website, Offspring are presently recording a new disc. I hope it's good, ya?

1 out of 5 stars I feel personally offended by this album........2006-06-10

I've been an Offspring fan since about 96 or 97 and my first album was Smash. I fell in love with it, and quickly gobbled up Ixnay on the Hombre, and then later their older two releases. Americana was the first real big change for the Offspring, and at first I didn't like it much, but it grew on me and I started to appreciate their change in sound and style, though definitely not in the same way as their older work. Conspiracy of One was on about the same level as Americana. I never liked their more poppy tracks like "Pretty Fly" or "Original Prankster", but I still found a lot to enjoy...

But come this new album... I just don't know what to say. This album is full of some of the most banal, painfully-juvenile songs I have ever heard! It's hard to believe that the same band that wrote "Jenifer Lost the War" came up with "Worst Hangover". It seriously makes me sick. I wonder what goes through their heads? They're probably just enjoying their wealth and MTV-fame.

To be fair, there are a COUPLE decent tracks on this CD, but definitely not worth the price.

I'll still enjoy The Offspring's older work, but I've lost hope of them ever being what they used to be.

4 out of 5 stars New, not bad, sound for the Offspring.......2006-05-21

This overall is a good album, but not the Offspring's best. New listeners should get Smash. Definatly Smash.

Neocon 2/10 - Unnecesary song. Pretty cool when they start their concert with it, but i can't see myself listening to it any other time.

The Noose 10/10 - Best song on the album. Sounds like the old Offspring. Great fast rock.

Long Way Home 8/10 - Good song, nothing special.

Hit That 9/10 - Very different, but i still really like it. Good chorus and a great song for parties or group events.

Race Against Myself 6/10 - Nothing special.

Can't Get My Head Around You 10/10 - Really good song, going from a cool intro to really cool rock. Very fun to play on the guitar.

Worst Hangover Ever 8/10 - Good song, funny lyrics, kind of hurts your head after awhile. I really like the last lyrics.

Never Gonna Find Me and Lightning Rod 9/10 each - very very good songs...good rock.

Spare Me the Details 10/10 - What a great song. 2nd best on the album. Fantastic lyrics and acoustic rock.

Da Hui - 0/10 I'm sorry but I don't see how anyone can like this song. It's not necesary. The album would have left a better taste ending with Spare Me the Details.

Overall - B - A couple great songs but they still don't come close to anything on Smash. Buy that instead, but buy this one eventually because everyone needs to have every single Offspring album. Best band in the world.

Fellow Californian Mike Love of the Beach Boys is sampled to introduce this latest Offspring release and immediately it's down to business as usual. Which for the Offspring means the best-produced punk rock money can buy. Brendan O'Brien (Pearl Jam) turns the knobs in the producer's chair and he works pure sonic architecture. The guitars crunch with perfectly defined distortion, the drums come down the middle, and--most importantly--singer Dexter Holland is juiced to the max. Though his voice sits in the "whine" range, double tracking and other studio enhancements give the vocals an incredible presence beyond standard range, and Holland works them to convincing effect. "Come Out Swinging" does exactly that. "Want You Bad" recalls the southern California punk pop of the Descendents. "One Fine Day" double-times into both hardcore and a galloping country terrain. Essentially, it's full speed ahead with the pedal to the metal and no airbags in sight. --Rob O'Connor

5 out of 5 stars this is a must have!.......2007-02-28

WOW! this record BLEW me away! this is MY favorite offspring record yet. this record went BEYOND my taste of music. Just like the rest of their albums, the offspring writes songs about everyday life.

1. Intro - Kinda pointless, but this band loves to do INTROs at the beginning of all their albums. 5/10

2- Come Out Swinging- This song means alot to me. the singing is great, and Dexter did a nice job with the vocals in this one. there isnt a part in this song that isnt good. This song has a good message to it that everyone should hear. 10/10

3-Original Prankster- let me tell ya, this song had alot of "action" if you will. Kinda hard to explain, but its a great song. It made me happy to see them trying somthing different with their music equipment. they put alot of effort into it and the beat is great, vocals are great. 10/10

4- Want You Bad- a few people i know that eathier dont know or dont like the offspring, they like this song. Another PERFECT song. this was one of their greatest hits. The vocals were really catchy too. "Complicated, X rated" "i want you, all tattoed" i love it. 10/10

5- Million Miles Away- When i first got this record, i didnt really listen to this song, and now that i do, it is one of my favorite other then Conspiracy Of One. I really like how they have 2 singers singing 2 different things in one time like at the end. If you listen to this song you would know what im talking about. When Dexter says "i cant take, i cant take" and Noodles and Greg are saying "looking through myself wanting to pretend" at the same time. Its another great song 10/10

6- Dammit, I changed again- This song, including "all along" "conspiracy Of One" "Come Out Swinging" all sound the same. but if you really listen to this song, you would see that this song has a meaning to it like all other songs i just mentioned. What im trying to say is that this song is "just another song" 8/10

7- Living In Chaos- im my opinion, this song is ok. not too bad, others might love it, but this song really doesnt appeal to me like most of the other do. Although i must admit this song had a good toon to it. 8/10

8- Special Delivery- well, ya know what they say. Every album has a song on it that isnt good. When i First heard this song, i thought it was another perfect song. Untill the point where it says "OGGA SACCA" 20 times, that totally ruined the entire song. but the vocals and lyrics are awsome other then that. 3/10

9-One Fine Day- This song remindes me of Green Day and blink 182 where the vocals are hard to understand in the chorus where dexter talked really fast. this is a VERY addicting song after you listen to it once or twice. 11/10

10- All Along- Kind of a short song, but it has a meaning to it. the vocals cant be better. " ALL ALONG, think i really knew, it was standing with the words unspoken" It sounds ALOT like Conspiracy Of One, but it still is a good song. 6/10

11-Denal, Revised- i never really liked this song. but i did listen to it once and found this song to be dull and boring. i dunno i guess this song really didnt catch my attention. The only advice i have is dont listen to this song if you are a hardcore rock fan like me. 0/10

12- Vultures- The SAME EXACT Thing as "denal, revised" .... dull and boring. if you are a hardcore rock fan dont listen to this song. 0/10

13- Conspiracy Of One- My favirote song on this album. "nobody wins, nobody hears us fall, nobody wins when its done, conspiracy of one" is a catchy phrase. this song is the main title of this album. 15/10

Overall Rating, 9.9/10 - Some boring parts and songs but its different then all the other albums by the offspring. love it.

4 out of 5 stars my mistake, it's a 4.75/5!!!!!!!!!.......2007-02-25

i listened to a few songs by them once and then i felt nothing rise in my music taste. so i put it aside and listened to smash. after that, i decided i wanted to hear want you bad again. it finished and then million miles away started and i loved it. then dammit, i changed again came, and i loved it as well. and i was blown away by one fine day because it was really good and reminded me of Green Day, which i love as well. vultures brought back the awesome tune of dirty magic. i love every single song on it except maybe come out swinging, it just doesn't appeal to me so much. the artwork in the lyric book is cool, also. buy this!!!!!!!

3 out of 5 stars not exactly their best, but still good........2007-02-20

very short album, about 38 minutes. it's a little more pop than i expected, but it's mostly punk. the best song on it is either original prankster or want you bad or one fine day. by this after you get smash and ixnay on the hombre and americana and ignition and their self titled one. get splinter at about the same time you get this.

5 out of 5 stars Another Good Release!.......2006-09-02

Conspiracy of One is very similar in sound as well as rating to Americana. Both have great songs mixed in with some okay ones. Still no release yet has been as good as Smash even though each album released so far still satisfies. The album is just another good release by the band. My favorite tracks are "Living In Chaos", "Special Delivery", "Denial, Revisited", and "Vultures". Those are my favorites even though there are still really good other tracks on the album.

2. Come Out Swinging - 9/10
3. Original Prankster - 10/10
4. Want You Bad - 10/10
5. Million Miles Away - 10/10
6. Dammit, I Changed Again - 6.5/10
7. Living In Chaos - 10/10
8. Special Delivery - 10/10
9. One Fine Day - 8/10
10. All Along - 8.5/10
11. Denial, Revisited - 10/10
12. Vultures - 10/10
13. Conspiracy One - 8/10

Overall: 92% A-

I don't know what it is about the band but they just seem to keep releasing good albums. Maybe the newer ones aren't as ground-breaking as Smash but they are pretty good either way. If you like the singles from this release or other Offspring works you should probably check this one out.

4 out of 5 stars My first Offspring CD........but definitely not my last.......2006-08-10

I've wanted to check The Offspring out for quite some time and finally got a chance to. After listening to the CD for the first time I thought it was pretty decent, I also like Green Day and thought that Conspirancy of One even sounded a little better than Green Day. After about my 5th listen to the CD i realized how genius it was. Track #8 "Special Delivery" is my favorite, it's one of those songs that just pump you up.

I can't wait to get another Offspring CD and keep listening to their music. If you're into a Punkish sound between Foo Fighters and Green Day you'll want to listen to this. Now go get it.

It seems like the terms catchy and punk shouldn't go together, but for the Offspring, they do. Listening to Ignition, one gets the sense of rage tightly controlled, powering the band's uptempo, driving material. While their sensibility is firmly punk, the Offspring have clearly borrowed from heavy metal for their chord progressions and guitar sound--check out the solos on "Nothing from Something" and "Forever and a Day." While this album didn't have the major-label success of its follow-up, Smash, all the ingredients that made that record a hit are here, if not quite as refined: angry, incisive lyrics; fast-driving rhythms; and--dare one say it--melodic chord progressions. It's easy to hear why Ignition was an underground hit and why the Offspring's later records, while somewhat diluted, have been so successful. --Genevieve Williams

5 out of 5 stars The Offspring great again!!!.......2006-11-27

I don't know of any band in the history of heavy music which is loved by ther fans of all metal. From punk to death metal fans everybody loves the Offspring. It's amazing how few people realize that.

Ignition is somewhat different in sound but a gem nonetheless.

5 out of 5 stars Don't f*ck with us, or we'll f*ck with you.......2006-03-12

That lyric pretty much sums up the attitude of "Ignition," the 2nd studio album released by the Offspring. This album is fast, unapologetic and angry, yet it remains somewhat tongue in cheek and playful. The kick off to the album, "Session," starts with someone dropping the f bomb many times in succession. While the album speaks of some very serious subjects, it also adds in some Sublime-esque grooves/laid back lyrics to break things up. The result? The Offspring's best album, far and away -- even trouncing the likes of "Smash" and "Ixnay on the Hombre." The combination of punk, rock 'n roll, rebelliousness and playfulness make for a varied, extremely engaging listen. On "Dirty Magic," the middle-eastern esque guitar riff works wonderfully, a la their mega hit "Come Out and Play." "We Are One" is a boisterous tune about a band of trouble making punks rebelling against conformity. The lyrics are catchy, and the song blazes along at a breakneck clip. "LAPD" is very much like Sublime's "April 29, 1992," talking about the Rodney King riots, and general corruption of the LAPD. The Offspring use a much harder riff and lyrics to convey their point, but both bands seem to share a similar view. "Hypodermic" is also similar of Sublime's many druggie songs, talking about shooting up and the like. The overall feel of the album is much, much edgier than their later work -- even "Smash" can't match the intensity of the lyrics and riffs present on "Ignition."

The album flows very well; never am I inclined to skip a song, even after listening to it many times. The song quality is quite good -- no super crappy sound quality that plagued their first release. This is not the same band that released "Americana," "Conspiracy of One" etc.; even if you're annoyed by those releases, as many are, I'd really recommend giving this a shot. If you love those releases, you definately owe it to yourself to check out where the Offspring came from. Best tracks: Session, We Are One, and Dirty Magic (my choice for best Offspring song ever).

5 out of 5 stars Wow.......2006-03-08

This cd is just amazing. I mean you really can't say much that is negative about this cd. My favorite song is Dirty Magic, but all of these songs are just incredible. The Offspring's new music isn't bad it's just very differant. This cd actually reminds me a little of Nirvana so if you like Nirvana you'll probably enjoy this cd. But I was a hardcore offspring fan a while ago and this cd just makes me remember the good old days so if you're looking for some 90's grunge this is the cd for you.

5 out of 5 stars A Beautifully Crafted CD.......2006-01-27

Warning, if you are a crappy emo-listening "punker" do not go near this CD. Your ears don't deserve to listen to it :D.
That being said, like a previous customer said, this CD rocks so hard, it's crazy. I am a death/melodic/black/heavy metal fan and yet I still love this CD with all my heart. This and the self-titled are such great treats to the ears. I wholey recommend getting this CD if you miss the music of the old punk/grunge days.

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant CD.......2005-12-20

i've been listening to The Offspring for about 3 years and own every album. This has to be one of their best cds ever released. This and the self titled are both tied for the best cd released by The Offspring. This cd is more raw than the newer ones, and is faster, which is better.

Here are the song reviews

Session - 10/10 One of the best songs by The Offspring, fast, short, and good lyrics.

We Are One - 9/10 I love the intro to this song. Its a great song overall.

Kick Him When Hes Down - 15/10 Best song on this cd. Has the coolest riff the Offspring have ever written.

Take It Like A Man - 8/10 Good song but just doesnt stand out enough.

Get It Right - 10/10 Excellent song. Great lyrics, great riff, great everything.

Dirty Magic - 10/10 Wow. What a song. This song actually took time to write other than that new sh*t we are hearing today. Great lyrics, great opening, great song.

Hypodermic - 7.5/10 Alright song. It's not bad, but something about it just doesnt jump out and grab me. Has a good drum opening. Chorus is alright but not as good as others. Still a good song.

Burn It Up - 7/10 Read above.

No Hero - 9/10 Great lyrics and a good riff = excellent song.

L.A.P.D - 20/10 Best song written by the Offspring. I can listen to this song 159030153 times and never get bored. Starts with a bass introduction then turns into a song thats message is basicly "F*ck the Police". This song was written about the Rodney King incident. Sad thing about this song, is that all the lyrics are 100% true.

Nothing From Something - 10/10 Good Song. Nice riff, lyrics and drumming. Very catchy.

Forever And A Day - 9/10 Amazing finisher. Good lyrics and a great riff. Very good singing by Dexter.

Overall, this cd is great and is reccomended to any Offspring fan.

If you like the newer albums, dont waste your time, this isnt for you, go listen to your crap music. If you like the old albums, like smash, self titled, inxay, then this is for you 100%.

Grade = A

PS: I listen to thrash metal and death metal and such, but I still love The Offspring. Theres No way you can't like the first 2 albums.

5 out of 5 stars if the LA hardcore scene would have been in the 90's, this is how i imagine it would sound like.......2006-08-07

i personally dont know. i am 19 years old and wasnt around in the 80's and was a little kid in the early 90's, but i have been listening to bands like TSOL, Agent Orange, DI, Adolescents, Dead Kennedys, Circle Jerks, and Suicidal Tendencies for a while now and i recently began to re-explore the punk revival music i used to listen to. the offspring to me were usually that band that landed just a few notches under green day's mtv radar and was moreso the "anti-green day" band kids would listen to instead.

well anyways, i picked this one up"epitaph version with kill the president" after briefly listening to a friend's copy a couple times..i must say this album is the best thing offspring have ever done! i mean if you think ignition is an amazing album, you havent heard anything yet. this album has great lyrics and statements..i mean worthy enough of being compared to TSOL's dance with me..yes it is that good!

sad to say, the offspring were in decline as soon as the started. the next two are about even..they are great, but nowhere near this...and by the time ixnay came about, they were rapidly declining..to what they are today.

on a final note, if you get this..which i 100% recommend..get the epitaph version!...the nitro version is missing a great track"kill the president"..i wonder why..can it be that the offspring decided that they are making too much money to criticize bigwigs? we may never know!

5 out of 5 stars Best Cd by The Offspring.......2005-12-20

This CD is the best ever released by this band. This cd is in my top 20 best cds ever, which is an extremely hard task. This cd is more raw, fast, brutal, rebellious, etc. than all of their other cds.

Here are the song reviews.

Jennifer Lost The War - 15/10 Best song ever. Brilliant and true lyrics, great guitar, great everything. Brilliant solo after the first chorus. Catchiest song ever. Best song ever.

Elders - 9/10 Great Song. Great lyrics, great guitar, great drumming, great everything.

Out On Patrol - 9/10 A Shorter song, but still good. Starts with an acoustic intro till it comes out with a fantastic riff.

Crossroads - 10/10 Unbelievable song. Very creepy bass part at like 30 seconds. After that , this song is so great. Very catchy, great chorus.

Demons - 500/10 Best song ever released by any band. Starts with a cool drum solo then comes the bass, then the guitar. Has some great dark metalish lyrics. Very fast and great. This song makes me wanna have a mexican fiesta. I'd pay 50 bucks just for this song. Btw, Best lyrics ever.

Beheaded - 25/10 YES , BLOOD, GORE, YES, I LOVE THIS SONG. Bloody, Gory , Violent, Everything That I Love! Great riff, very creepy. I love the lyrics.

Tehran - 10/10 Desert Storm Song. Great Bass intro, great guitar work. Brilliant lyrics. One of the Offspring's better songs.

A Thousand Days - 9/10 Cool Song. Starts with like a James Bond ish intro for 10 seconds. Cool chorus.

Blackball - 10/10 Something about this song makes it so addicting. This song has some great lyrics, as well as that it is greatly put together. Very catchy.

I'll Be Waiting - 10/10 The opening reminds me of some 80s and 70s Rock songs I like. Basicly, its a great solo to start the song. But at like 20 seconds it kicks in to a fast punk song. I love the lyrics, the chorus, just a fascinating song.

Overall, This is the best cd ever released by The Offspring. Go ahead and get it if you liked the next 3 albums or other punk bands.

Grade = A++++++

btw. I listen to thrash and death metal and such, but I still love The Offspring.

1 out of 5 stars Oi vay... These guys are clueless.......2002-11-29

This is the classic example of how a band can shove anything down impressionable youths' throats if they pretend to know what they're talking about and make it sound "revolutionary". These songs are hate songs. Offspring went from being fake hardcore poseur punk to what is now a band for meatheaded fratboy jocks and all their girlfiends who wear their varsity football jackets. Oi vay.

4 out of 5 stars "Out With the New, Stay With the Old".......2002-11-22

The Offspring is a band known by many and adored by a lot, including myself. The Offspring produces high performance music that is useful for pre-game inspiration. It also can be considered angry music for a depressed teenager, or catchy music for a party. They have been credited with the previous as well as leading punk music into the mainstream of music listeners in the early nineteen nineties.
I have to admit that as much of an offspring fan I am I have not purchased their newest album. As a young teenager I lived and breathed their music listening to such CD’s as this one, Ignition, Ixnay on the Hombre, and Smash. I enjoyed some of the songs from Americana. However, that album, due to songs such as “Pretty Fly for a White Guy” to me was the beginning of the end of my love for these guys from Orange County.
If you look up the “punk-pop” genre on Amazon.ca you will find such bands as, Blink-182 and Jimmy eat world, as well as a few of The Offspring’s newer albums. It is this genre that is responsible for teeny-boppers who say they love punk music, and is a disgrace to true punk routes. However I promise you that you will not find their original self-titled album in this category.
In my opinion “The Offspring” is the definition of punk rock. It is a heavy album packed with wicked guitar riffs and fast drums. The lyrics have everything from gratuitous violence to political statements and an overall rebellious attitude.
This album begins with a sad tale of a young girl being abused and left to die. “Jennifer Lost the War” is a song with a morbid topic, but it really makes the listener think about today’s society. “They found her burned and raped…but will the morning headlines even say that it’s a shame?” It is lines like this that shows the true character of The Offspring, and comments on the world we live in. The music of the song is average as far as the sound of the band goes, but it is the lyrics that make it one of my favorite.
The next song on the CD has lyrics worthy of a poem. It is about an aging youth coming to the realization that he has been lied to by his elders. “Elders” is a ballad for the teenage generation when they realize that their parents are not perfect, and all they ever wanted was for them to be truthful in what they share with their children. It is a fast and exciting song which I quite enjoy.
“Out on Patrol” opens with a wicked fast acoustic guitar, a rare find in the Offspring’s music. It is this guitar and the fast beats performed by Welty on drums that make the song what it is. The music itself over powers the lyrics in that I never really understood the song, but I loved to hear it.
Up until now, the album has been traveling in a definite path, following song after song of which all seem to sound the same to the untrained ear. It is “Demons” that takes this CD for a curve. What makes this song special is a change of pace on drums and the high pitched guitar by ‘Noodles’ that The Offspring are so known for. As well as the slowing down of the song while Dexter’s voice comes through the speakers sinisterly. It is words like “your misery in life is your ecstasy in death” that makes for a devilish tone in this song. It is not one of my favorite but it definitely shows how versatile the band truly is.
“Beheaded” is by far one of the most unique songs ever written by the Offspring. This song contains gratuitous violence and builds morbid images in one’s mind while listening to it. It is a story of a man that is suffering some sort of mental instability while on a killing rampage. It is the screaming guitar and emotion in Holland’s voice that makes my blood curdle. I’m not trying to say that I am sadistic but I truly enjoy this song, it fills me with emotion and is a useful outlet for rage.
“Tehran” is a song that proves that the Offspring is more than just a band that can sing about white guys posing as an African American thug. This song relates to the Gulf War and triggers thoughts about war in general. Not only is it well written but it keeps with the trend of pure, hard, punk rock.
“A Thousand Days”, “Blackball”, and “Ill be waiting” are average, yet still awesome songs on this album and I enjoy them immensely.
The album ends with a message of rebellion in the song “Kill the President”. It has words such as: “In a world without leaders who would start all the wars?” This is a powerful song that provokes thoughts in a young mind about what politics is all about. Not only does it make you think, but it continues the trend of fast paced angry music.
I believe that the best music produced by The Offspring was their older music. The Offspring has a natural hard and crunchy sound. They eventually expanded on it and mixed it into a more catchy and crunchy sound. It is once they realized that the songs that were profitable were the ones with goofball lyrics and oddball sounds, that their combination of catchy and crunchy became too catchy. This is not to say that the newer albums do not contain some classic Offspring. I have always enjoyed their music and I will continue to enjoy it, but more so this album than any of the rest. Due to the unique voice of Holland, rhythmic base by Greg, the screaming guitar of Noodles, and the speedy drums of Welty, this album with its hard garage sound is a necessity to any fan of The Offspring.

4 out of 5 stars The Start of a Great Band.......2002-08-13

I can say this is easily the worst Offspring album in my opinion, but it is still very good, which proves how great the band is. Anyway, here are the ratings of each song:

1. Jennifer Lost the War- 9/10 Powerful lyrics coupled with nice riffs equal a great start to the album
2. Elders- 10/10 This is an even better song with good lyrics, nice drumming and guitar.
3. Out on Patrol- 8.5/10 One of the many songs about war, and, while short, is still a solid piece.
4. Crossroads- 6.25/10 It's got decent lyrics, but the overall effort is pretty average.
5. Demons- 5.25/10 The lyrics are very interesting, but it's not enough to get this subpar song off the ground.
6. Beheaded- 7.5/10 We see a part of the Offspring's playful side, about a guy with aspirations of beheading everyone in the world. On a sidenote, it was co-written with James Lijla, who ironically is now a plastic surgeon, or something like that. It's a good thing his patients don't know he co-wrote a song called Beheaded!
7. Tehran- 9.75/10 An excellent song about the Gulf War, although in actuality it's very short, but the music is good, and the lyrics are moving.
8. A Thousand Days- 8.25/10 The first song I heard off this album is still one of the best. Solid riffs and drumming with interesting love lyrics.
9. Blackball- 9.5/10 The first single is one of the better songs on the track. Nice sound with cool lyrics.
10. I'll Be Waiting- 10/10 Tied for best song on the track in my mind, this is an excellent song with thought provoking lyrics and stellar instrumentals.
11. Kill the President- 9/10 Maybe not the best ending title for a CD, but the song is still good.

Now, the CD is good, but it's only about half an hour long, so that brings it down slightly. Still, it's worth the money to get it, if you can find it, that is. The Offspring's debut, although it did poorly in sales, was still the embarkment of an incredible journey.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Great Album! Hard to Find in Stores!.......2007-02-15

Just another great album of The Offspring!!! Yeah!!!

5 out of 5 stars Great punk...great Offspring.......2007-01-19

I don't usually bother to write reviews, but after reading some of the words being spouted regarding this album, I just had to throw in my proverbial two cents.

First, my early exposure to Offspring, like many, was Smash. I loved that CD. This was about the time in my life I was getting out of metal and more into punk. Since then I've grown to love bands like Bad Religion, NOFX, Rancid, Dropkick Murphy's, Flogging Molly, Avail, Dillinger Four, AFI, and I could go on and on. And I definitely prefer the more underground, independent, and raw sounding punk as opposed to the radio-friendly crap that's so popular today.

With all of that said, I can see where some people dislike this album. As opposed to Offsprings later stuff, this is completely different. To me, this is a less-refined, less mature, version of Smash. And it's an awesome CD. To me it's punk at it's finest. It's the type of CD a band puts out before they have even given any thought to radio-play or record sales. Not to say Offspring 'soldout', but they definitely changed. To me, Smash was the last trace of the sound you hear on this CD before it left the band completely, in my opinion. But this was defitely Offspring at it's rawest and finest.

To those complaining about the vocals or the production value, this is how real punk is supposed to sound: raw, fast, and furious. To those upset with the lyrics and topics, grow up, get a grip, and learn to take a joke. As for my personal favorites, that would have to be Tehran, Black Ball, Out on Patrol, and I'll Be Waiting. Don't get me wrong, the whole cd is true punk at it's best.

4 out of 5 stars A great debut from one of the best punk rock bands around.......2006-07-11

Right from the start, The Offspring deliver their jamming chords in a way that never ceases to be catchy and entertaining. Although you won't find any of the more tamed tracks like "Pretty Fly (For a white guy)" or "Come Out & Play" on this album, you can still enjoy the wilder side of The Offspring that began to fade away starting with their "Smash" CD. This self-titled album gives the impression of old school punk rock with its slightly imperfect sound quality, feral chord progressions and vocals, and often simple but addictive melodies. One of the more outstanding tunes on here is "Beheaded", which seems to tell the tale of some maniac going around and decapitating people. Gruesome, perhaps, but the overall nature of the song is amusing, and its snarling vocals and rocking riffs in the background make it one of the finer morsels on the CD. "A Thousand Days" also is a good song for its catchy chorus and good guitar sections. Conclusively, I would give this album four stars and would consider it necessary for any Offspring fan's collection. Punk rock fans would likely appreciate the music on this CD also.

5 out of 5 stars Just To Clarify...........2006-06-01

For everyone wondering about that last song (Kill The President), it was still on the 1995 reissue and was actually removed from the album in 2001. If you want a copy of the album with that song, you can buy it on the internet or if you're lucky, any major record store that sells used CDs might have it (I bought mine a few months ago for only 6 bucks, pretty good deal if you ask me).

As for the album itself, it is a little rougher-edged than their later albums, but is still pretty darn good anyway. An excellent debut that is highly recommended for fans of the band or punk rock in general.

4 out of 5 stars The Offsring (self-titled) - a little crude, but good.......2006-03-21

First off, although Amazon listed the song, "Kill the President," on the CD, I was sent a CD which did not have that song. I'm not complaining; I just wanted to make that clear to anyone reading this.
As for the CD itself, this is some good "horror punk," with some songs reminiscent of The Misfits. Fans of "Ignition," and maybe "Smash" will most likely enjoy this music. Of course, this is nothing like "Pretty Fly," though. It is very raw - musically as well as quality-wise. Key songs are "Elders," "Crossroads," "Beheaded," and "Tehran."
