Product Description
Lori Carson writes, "In August of 2002, the temperature was nearing the hundred mark, when 12 sweaty songwriters from all over the world met, at the Orient Inn on the Eastern End of Long Island, for a workshop in songwriting. I'd never held such a retreat before and was a little nervous, so had gone to a lot of trouble to select an amazing group of people.. Although we were strangers initially, we very quickly became friends. "During that weekend, songs were created in an atmosphere of support, humor, genuine affection, admiration... and good food! Jay stunned us with the power of his "Hallway". Steph at the piano, singing and playing her "Missing" song, soared. We sang along to Janis' catchy "Graceful" chorus, and made up harmonies to Ayako's "Station". Sam was so good at helping everyone find that missing word or line. She wrote a love song, too, which inspired an engagement.. Saadat's drums and guitars were all over the floor. He wrote a song about his father, and then he wrote another. Sprinkle played keyboards for Ayako and wrote about the rain. (He kind of sounds like a young Joe Jackson). We watched Cate's delicate hands on her guitar (she can play!), as she sang her perfectly crafted jewel. Marc's song about a friend's being stuck has a melody that gets stuck in your head.. I think Lucas went first.. He stood up and sang for us, in his beautiful baritone.. He sang about the weather.. And ! Jane's voice was strong and gorgeous. We closed our eyes listening to its power. "It was Sunday too soon. By that time we were all in love with one another, and our songs were written, so we went to the beach... It was like a wonderful dream..."Customer Reviews:
