By the turn of the century virtuoso performers had developed a spellbinding repertoire of arrangements of great and popular classics. Douglas Back, who is both an informed musical historian and a brilliant banjo player performs many of the original arrangements in duets with piano (Carolyn Boone) and guitar (Michael Johnson), and recaptures the music of a genteel and almost forgotten period in our cultural history. The CD includes a diverse selection of music, from a beautiful Chopin Waltz to an astounding virtuoso performance of Rimsky Korsakov's "Flight of the Bumblebee"!
