Editorial Reviews
One Week In April existed for exactly one week.
It was not intended to be an ongoing band, but rather a group of friends gathering together, to honor their friendships, and celebrate and document the music they had shared over the years. Although the band itself existed only briefly, the personal and musical relationships between its members had existed for decades before, and will persist for decades more. In addition to the existing relationships, new friendships and musical collaborations arose from the experience of playing together for that one week; these new collaborations are present in the performances and recordings of Naked April, and those of the duo of Kent Rytting and Nick Bennett, and they will undoubtedly manifest in other bands in the future.
Product Description:
For over 15 years, the musicians who made up One Week In April played music together, in various configurations, always saying that one day they would record together. Finally, in April 1996, Nick Bennett and Kent Rytting assembled the group in a house in Syracuse, Utah (and later, Fast Forward Recording in Salt Lake City), and they all began playing through dozens of songs from the writers in the group - rehearsing, arranging, winnowing down, and recording, over the space of a week.
The time was short, and the results - the 14 songs on Songs Arriving Late - are rough, but heartfelt.
