Volume 4 of 4.......2005-03-03
As I expected, this volume maintained the standard of the first three. I was particularly pleased to get Telstar (Tornados) and Poetry in motion (Johnny Tillotson) on CD but there are many classic tracks here.
My favorites here include This old heart of mine (Isley brothers), Have I the right (Honeycombs), Last train to Clarksville (Monkees), You were made for me (Freddie and the dreamers), Where do you go to my lovely (Peter Sarstedt), Mighty Quinn (Manfred Mann), It's getting better (Mama Cass) and I'll never find another you.
As things turned out, this was the end of the series. There were other albums of a similar type but limited to love songs or summer songs - however, they included many of the same songs that appeared on these four volumes. I bought one of them (the best sixties summer party album in the world ever) but it can't count as a volume five.
Even with 200 tracks, this series is by no means definitive. It would have been easy to extend the series, but I suspect that further volumes would not have sold in such big quantities. All good things come to an end - this series ended with volume four.
If you can find them, buy this and the previous three volumes (see the UK site for those).
