Product Description
Project Description: IN MY MIND THE NEW ALBUM IS ABOUT THE KINGDOM OF GOD, HOW IT REALLY DOES EXIST, AND IS AS REAL AS YOUR CAR OR YOUR KRISPY KREME DONUT, YOUR FAMILY, YOUR PROBLEMS. IF WE CAN FIGURE IT OUT, GOD HAS INVITED US TO LIVE in His kingdom in the midst of our regular existence. It is not a place of isolation and perfection, it is not far away where we cannot reach it. It happens at all the places where we intersect with each other. I hope the album is another reminder that the kingdom of God doesn't just come in the rally or worship event. It comes when I speak respectfully to my husband, and refrain from letting my anger spill over onto my kids, when I have an opportunity to gossip and refrain, when I open up my home, when I mess up royally, and have the stuff to go apologize, when I refuse to blame everyone else for my problems. These songs are about the beautiful character that grows out of seeing people through by loving God, and loving people. SARA GROVES Candidly truthful and compassionately hopeful, the fourth release from acclaimed singer-songwriter Sara Groves promises to be another creative expression of faith and relationships. This new project echoes Sara's first release Conversations, in its' intimate and honest lyrical journey. This is Sara's bridge building statement to fellow men pointing to the adventurous, transcending, life-changing Kingdom story. As a talented singer-songwriter, Sara offers an insightful and accessible view into the complexities of Christianity being walked out in a fallen world.Customer Reviews:

Shining Sara.......2006-04-07
I have come to know and love the gentle Sara and this was quite a shock. Sara does retain her mellowness and her voice still soothes. However, this is indeed an edgier, more contemporary and sometimes rocked out Sara. Still, she manages to retain the balance. This new sound left me confused, but I LOVED it. Major standouts for me are the coolly thumping "When It Was Over" which discusses the cleansing power of love, "Just Showed Up", the reggae reminiscent "You Are The Sun", the very edgy "It's Gonna To Be Allright", she calmly rocks out on the title track; "Add To The Beauty" where she urges us to focus the little things we can do extraordinarily, and the head bobbing, true "Kingdom Comes".
Through it all, Sara delivers her message. I'm sure that's what matters most to her.

Sara Groves has the voice of an angel, the heart of a devoted mother and wife, and the soul of a poet. It might sound cheesy, but it's true. And her third album, All Right Here, is an instant classic of devotional pop from this former high school history teacher. It's more upbeat and sonically fleshed-out than its predecessor, Conversations, which was one of the breakthrough releases of 2001. Among All Right Here's many treats are the baroque folk of "You Cannot Lose My Love" and the edgy, anthemic "Less Like Scars." Throughout the disc, the talented pianist and singer-songwriter's lyrics are soul-searching and achingly honest, reminiscent of the great Rich Mullins. Her songs themselves are as strong as Jennifer Knapp's, while she amply displays the heavenly vocal chops of Sarah McLachlan and Shawn Colvin. --Mike McGonigalCustomer Reviews:
A Confirmation That I Am A Sara Groves Fan.......2007-05-11
I enjoy Groves' style. She wrote most of the songs on the project, with the exception of "You Did That For Me" (written by Jonell Moser, who I heard of for years in Nashville but never heard personally) and Pierce Pettiz) and "Jesus, You're Beautiful". But better than the music is her lyrics. They are clearly Christian. Too many Christian projects seem to be for the purpose of being a clean alternative to secular music, and there's nothing wrong with that but I want more. Groves' songs are "more".
Maybe it would be easier to tell you my least favorite songs on this project than my favorites, and there is not a bad cut on the project. But my favorites are "Less Like Scars", "Every Minute", "Just One More Thing" (I relate to that tune), "Remember Surrender", "Maybe There's A Loving God", "Tornado", "First Sung That I Sing", and "You Cannot Lose My Love".
greatstuff.......2007-01-22
Very Much All Right.......2007-01-15
In addition to "All Right Here," other standout songs on this cd include "Less Like Scars", "Every Minute", "Jesus, You're Beautiful", and "First Song that I Sing", although "First Song" does drag on a bit longer than necessary. In a way, it's pointless to mention the standout songs, because they're all great.
Sara Groves is a great talent.

"David Lee who?" is the question posed by this 2 Disc compendium of six years of Sammy Hagar-era performances. "Won't Get Fooled Again" is too obvious and tired a tune to be more than a novelty; better bets are firey renditions of "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" and "Jump" (highlighted by Hagar's Michael Jackson impersonation). --Jeff BatemanCustomer Reviews:
Van Halen Live, Gotta Love it.......2007-06-05
Good But still.......2006-04-29
Albums (not boots, videos) from 86 and 98 tours would be better.......2006-04-06
1 Mike bass solo is proof of his poor skills
2 Alex drum solo is way too long - who likes drum solos(not talking about drummers:))
3 Cover of the Who is maybe good idea, but why "Won't get fooled...", "can't explain" would be better choice.
Highlights: Poundcake, Judgement day(you can see Eddie soloing:)), Spanked, Man on Mission, Right Now, 316(of course) - it's in fact Eddie's long solo with cathedral, eruption and other licks. But I think guitar solofrom "Live without a net" was even better.
So, it's very good recording, but after watching some videos from diferent VH gigs I think that band was in better shape in 1986 when recording "Live without a net" video. Not to mention VH3 tour.
Recommended for Van Hagar fans.......2006-01-25
"Live: Right Here, Right Now" has a lot going for it. Many of these live renditions sound fuller than the studio versions, especially songs from "5150" and "OU812." Hagar's monologues, although at times long-winded, are generally interesting, especially his speech about living in the moment in the middle of "Panama." The instrumentals are more hit-or-miss. And there are A LOT of instrumentals; a drum solo, a guitar solo, and a bass solo. If you're into that sort of thing you will be well pleased with this release. But if you don't care for long instrumentals and solos, you may find them tedious. A cover of the WHO's "Won't get fooled again," sounds good, an obvious choice it may be.
The biggest drawback of this release is that it focuses exclusively on the Sammy Hagar-era of the band. It would have been far more desirable to have two CDs, the first covering '78-84 shows, (with Roth) and the second covering the Hagar era. But because the Van Halen brothers have always tried to downplay the Roth years and make Van Hagar out to be the definitive Van Halen (see "The Best of Both Worlds") we get a double-album of the Red Rocker without any Diamond Dave. When the band plays Roth-era material, it sounds good, until the vocals come in. As much as I like Sammy, he never could pull-off singing the Dave songs. While Hagar doesn't butcher the Roth songs, they just sound goofy, i.e. "got my ass against the record machine"(Hagar's replacement, Gary Cherone, did a terrific job singing all three eras on Van Halen's 1998 World Tour). Another problem with "Live: Right Here, Right Now" is that there are too many songs from "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge." Even if this had to be a Hagar-only live album, more songs from "5150" and "OU812" should have been included.
While "Live: Right Here, Right Now" isn't exactly KISS "ALIVE," (1975) it's still a pretty good album. While casual fans are advised to stay away, VH fans, especially fans of Van Hagar will enjoy this release. Hopefully someday an official Roth-era live VH album will see the light of day.
Well(3.25 stars)...............2005-11-20
As mentioned above, this is one of the best sounding live albums out there, and even though the tracklisting could have been better, this is still decent. It is a collection of Van Halen songs recorded live in about a four or five year time span from when Sammy Hagar was the lead singer of VH,and here, you hear Van Halen perfroming nine out of the eleven songs from Knowledge,as well as four songs from the Roth era of Van Halen("Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love","Panama",and half of both "You Really Got Me" and "Eruption"),two of Sammy Hagar's solo songs("There's Only One Way to Rock" and "Give to Live"),four songs from their "5150" album("Dreams","Love Walks In","Why Can't This Be Love?",and "Best of Both Worlds"),three songs from the Van Halen(Hagar era)album "OU812"("When It's Love","Finish What Ya Started",and half of "Cabo Wabo"),along with a pretty good cover version of The Who classic "Won't Get Fooled Again". Like another reviewer already mentioned, the sound and quality of this live album is so good that it is like a party on a CD,and Michael Anthony's bass solo,Alex Van Halen's drum solo, and Eddie Van Halen's guitar solo(which starts off as the instrumental "316" leading into "Eruption")are all really good and solid, but the problem is the tracklisting. It isn't incredibly bad,but it is missing songs like "I Can't Drive 55"(I know that that is one of Sammy Hagar's solo songs, but if Sammy and everyone else in VH were going to play some of Sammy's solo material live, what was wrong with the idea of including a live performance of Sammy's most popular and most famous solo song on here????!!!!),there should have been a couple of more songs from the Roth era here(probably both "Dance The Night Away" and "Unchained"),and I think including live performances of "Black and Blue" and "Mine All Mine" from "0U812" would have been really cool also and would have helped this live album be better than it turned out(I don't mind the large amount of songs from For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge being here, with the exception of "Man On A Mission"). But everything else here is really good, while this is a fun live album to listen to--Sammy,Eddie,Alex,and Mike all do a great job at contributing to that. The booklet accompanying this live album, which has pictures of Van Halen from their tour on which this live record was recorded,is really cool and is a good supplement to this CD.
Bottom Line:buy this live album ONLY if you are a die hard Van Halen fan, like both the Roth and Hagar eras of Van Halen, and don't mind the tracklisting here.

A musical treasure-box.......2006-09-10
The First, Second, Third and Fourth Bookes of Songes, A Musicall Banquet, the keyboard transcriptions, all the lute music, consort music are here and virtually everything else written or supposedly written by John Dowland. Anthony Rooley and The Consort of Musicke perform this music with style and feeling throughout. This 12 CD set is something of a monument to the ensemble - I only wish they'd finished their collection of Monteverdi madrigals, which was equally good (La Venexiana are currently doing a magnificent job of recording all Monteverdi's books of madrigals for the GLOSSA label).
This is an expensive set, however, you will probably never need to buy another John Dowland CD again after buying and listening to this collection.
I bought this CD set on a mild Summer evening of 1998 and listened to it while sitting in my sun room - which a glorious orange sunset in progress, and a glass of wine. It brought back so many memories.
a beautiful journey into melancholy.......2001-06-15
Dowland, a contemporary of Shakespeare, discovered that meditating on a sad theme is, at the same time, a way of discovering a special beauty that we tend to avoid (maybe because of the "tragic" heritage of the Romantics). So, in the end, meditating on sadness is an uplifting experience! This box set is a journey into melancholy that includes songs, chamber music, pieces for lute, some rare sacred music and -as a highlight- Dowland's beautiful collection of seven pieces for viola which he called "Lachrimae" (Tears).

The "Sisters K" return from the near dead with a bouncy album that in some ways suggests the early work of another musical sister, Shania Twain. Both acts offer a youthful pop sound that occasionally mimics hoedown music in the most superficial way, and both depend on layered production. Here, the Osborn siblings work from an inventive harmony base whipped into a frenzied swirl of sound by über-producer Dann Huff. Both acts also craft lyrics that can be astonishingly empty and insipid, but on Sweet Down Here, Kristyn Osborn and her various co-writers sink to new depths of banality. As a lyricist, Kristyn is at her intelligent best when she settles into brokenhearted love ballads such as "Without a Sound" and "Come Home Soon." Otherwise, she spends her time on "Passenger Seat" chewing on a Slim Jim and waiting for that first kiss (what, no garlic breath?); on "360˚ of You" she strikes a Lolita pose ("nibblin' my thumb 'cause I want me some"). She dots the rest of the album with references to plopping down on wet toilet seats and nailing her man ("you're a pesky little fly, I'm the pink plastic swatter"). They sure ain't the Dixie Chicks, but country music, that working-class genre, is nothing if not an equal-opportunity employer. --Alanna NashCustomer Reviews:
Sweet SHeDAISY.......2007-06-17
Wish I could take them back, yeah" (Love Goes On), and "If I could make the sun rise a little too slow/To keep from hearing what I already know"
(Without a sound), SHeDAISY sound beautiful, while singing such heartachely sad songs. However, they also sound wonderful singing such upbeat and happy songs, talking about hanging "around like an apple in a tree" (360 Of You), and being "misunderstood, misused, or misled" (Don't worry 'bout a thing) on these fun songs. SHeDAISY sound sweet right here while singing these great songs. A all-round great cd.

Broadway veteran Liz Callaway (most famous for her five-year stint as Grizabella in Cats on Broadway in the late '90s) fills her second solo album with lesser-known tunes, a number of them covering moments in her career. Her lovely soprano can break your heart with the ballad "Since You Stayed Here" then thrill you with the showstopper "The Story Goes On" from Baby (which earned her a Tony nomination). The emotional heart of the album is "Meadowlark," Stephen Schwartz's wondrous tale of risk and heartbreak that proves a particularly glorious marriage with Callaway's voice. In a savvy bit of programming, that peak is followed by the deliciously langorous "Sleepy Man." Callaway's sister, jazz/cabaret singer Ann Hampton Callaway, makes a guest appearance in Stephen Sondheim's powerful "Our Time," a teaser of the sisters' live collaboration. Of Varese Sarabande's many albums spotlighting Broadway singers, The Story Goes On is one of their absolute best. --David HoriuchiCustomer Reviews:
Y'all are crazy!.......2006-11-03
Liz Callaway Goes On..........2006-05-02
She opens the album with a strong rendition of "You There in the Back Row" a song I'm not familiar with but has grown to love. The next track "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of my Hair" lacks the spunk and bite that I think the song should have, and the arrangement felt out of place in the album.
She had a touching and moving rendition of `Since You Stayed Here". I'm not familiar with the musical Brownstone but this song made me want to check out the musical. It's about someone forced to become a stronger person after a breakup or some sort, that you wouldn't recognize it's the same person. I really love this song and Liz captured the strength as well as the sadness of the song.
Another standout is her now trademark version of "Meadowlark". The story of the meadowlark was a metaphor that convinced the character to the important decision she made in leaving her husband for another man. This is a really powerful song and truly Liz Callaway soared in this song. "Sleepy Man" was another notable track. This is probably the song that fits Liz Callaway's voice most perfectly. It was very sweet and really really soothing in the ears. This is one of my favorite tracks.
"Stop Time" is a song about the inexplicable combination of joy and sadness of watching your child grow up. It was a tender rendition that ends with a beautiful subdued last note. This woman knows how to end a song.
Once I got passed the cheesiness of the arrangement of "One Boy", I enjoyed it. It's old fashioned but it's still good. Liz then made an updated rendition of "The Story Goes On" from her show "Baby" This song was about a mother-to-be finally realizing the beauty and magic of carrying a child after she felt the child's first kick. I prefer the stronger arrangement of the song in this album compared to the Baby Cast Recording, but the innocence of that earlier rendition still resonates.
She ended the album with a beautiful rendition of "A Place Called Home". I first heard this song in one of Lea Salonga's concerts and I fell in love with this song. Her last note was very touching and melodiously and heartbreakingly romantic.

Album Description
Composer, pianist and three-time Grammy nominee David Benoit continues his legendary status as the pioneer of smooth jazz with his latest release, "Right Here, Right Now." Maintaining his signature style of tranquility, Benoit decides to loosen up a bit and add a little funk on this CD. The opening cut, "Watermelon Man" offers Herbie Hancock's classic funk but also embraces a retro-60's sound that Benoit classifies as "funky jazz" or "jazz rock". The title track, "Right Here, Right Now", produced by longtime friend and trumpet player Rick Braun captures the true essence of a David Benoit classic. James Taylor's "Don't Let Me be Lonely Tonight" is cushioned with an intoxicating live jazz treatment accompanied by a 22-piece string section. Benoit's musical selections reflect his attraction for a range of jazz-inflected styles, from contemporary pop to pure bebop, orchestral and hip-hop. On the cadenced "Jellybeans and Chocolate" titled with his daughter June in mind, he introduces up and coming smooth jazz musicians, Brian Culbertson (trombone) and Euge Groove (saxophone). Benoit also features the talents of his live band on the bossa nova inflected ode to Hawaii, "Swingin Waikiki" and "Quiet Room" a touching dedication to his late father.Customer Reviews:
