Hollies still sound hot.......2004-01-13

This IS one of the most comprehensive compilation of the Hollies' UK hits with every track, apart from the final one, having entered the UK charts. All, apart from "Stay" from 1963, are in stereo, I don't know why "Stay" isn't since a stereo mix does exist. What you get with the Hollies is simple, catchy, goodtime music, nothing heavy or preachy. And, despite the fact many of these cuts are almost 40 years old, they still sound good today. Whatever your age or background, give this a try. Incidentally, the band is still around and touring the UK this year. I saw them a couple of years ago and they still sounded fantastic.

the queen of freestyle is back. her releases are few and far between but they are always top notch. judy has a voice like no other. really, she is one of the most underrated female singers-ever. now that she's on the robbins label, maybe she'll get the recognition that she deserves. the vocals here soar over a trance like melody, with heartfelt lyrics.was collage necessary?
the only problem that i have is that there are no freestyle mixes of this song on here, which is weird considering adam marano produced this.

These CDs are for lovers of Irish music and of the "old-timey" sound of John McCormack. The songs themselves are lovely, and James Flannery sings them exactly as they need to be sung... in a simple and straightforward manner. The music is evocative of the sound and spirit of a long-ago time. The accompanying book gives interesting background information about Thomas Moore and also about the songs. Good listening for a rainy day or a snowy night with the fire blazing.
