Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Blusom is Red Hot!.......2003-11-23

This is a perfect mix of mellow harmony and a rockin' beat. Innovative lyrics combine with melancholy melody to create a beautiful blend. I can't wait for the next one!

4 out of 5 stars Good mellow listen.......2003-09-30

It's easy to get lost in this album and not notice when one song ends and another begins--the transition from one to the next is smooth and carries the theme well throughout the entire work. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this for a roadtrip, especially one taken at night, because of the lullaby quality of some of the songs. Not to say the album is dull by any means; the sound carries a unique blend of instruments that I've never heard before and the lyrics are enough to keep the listener interested in this guy's pain. It's refreshing to hear something different than the synthesized and borrowed too-many-times-over pop that has seized the airwaves. This would be a great weekend album--meaningful background music on a peaceful evening.

5 out of 5 stars Blusom is Perfect "All the Way Round".......2003-09-21

"Go Slowly All the Way Round the Outside" is a simultaneously soothing and thought-provoking album. The lyrics are beautiful and imaginative, with a perfect voice to sing them, and the background music is just as intriguing.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful.......2003-08-15

Blusom is the rare Denver band to have been signed to a record contract before having played its first live show, but that's a telling testament to the thrilling new sound fashioned by this duo. Infectious and aching, "Go Slowly All the Way Round the Outside" is a remarkable 10-song collection of not breakup songs, per se, but 10-days-after-the-breakup songs -- after the raw pain has fully settled into the bloodstream. If you have been recently hurt, this record of both ambient instrumentals and catchy singalongs might either be the best -- or the worst -- thing for you to turn to. "On Glass" is a bankable hit that celebrates the bouncing-off-the-wall wallowing that follows any involuntary separation. ("Go on without me. I am self-absorbed and (bleep).") But the subsequent "X-Photo" is a slower, deeper rumination, the kind that is only possible after that initial acute pain of being left settles into something more numbingly permanent. Midway through this naked lullaby, lead singer Michael Behrenhausen dives into a vocal loop of the simple and dead-on mantra, "Good night, sleep tight, it's over," which, with the help of Jme White's gorgeous electronic experimentations, builds the song into a lush orchestral epic. It's a cold, brilliant slap to the face. You won't need to get past track two to realize that this entire record is something special.
