Every morning when we turn on the TV or open the local newspapers, the visions of families separated by the potential of war in Iraq lead the headlines. Each account includes the stories of the soldiers separated from loved ones around the world because of heightening tensions in the Middle East. President Bush just gave the "Combat Command" in Iraq and the reality of war will once again be on the minds of every person whose loved one, be it husband, wife, son, daughter, sister or brother becomes involved in the conflict.

Adrienne Kirkey writes songs that tell the stories of brave people, the ones who go to war, and the ones who stay home. Adrienne’s songs hit home with the escalation of military activity in the news today; her music, and how it has developed since the Viet Nam war, would be an appealing, heartening topic for your program. Over the years, Adrienne has received recognition for her patriotic songwriting, as well as for her dedication to the military men and women who have served this country. The California State Senate, the Orange County Board of Supervisors, and the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution have honored her work.
