About the Artist
Mr. Allen's involvement with church music began at the age of twelve as piano accompanist for the church school of Dauphin Street Baptist Church in Philadelphia, Pa. He has served as Director of Music for the Harry Hosier United Methodist, and New Bethlehem Baptist Church in Philadelphia. He is currently Minister of Music of the Tyree AME Church and Director of the Inspirational Chorus of Vine Memorial Baptist Church.

Mr. Allen is the recipient of numerous awards for outstanding musicianship and service, and is a featured vocalist, accompanist and music workshop clinician. He was selected to be an Outstanding Young Man of America in 1989, and received the "Men Making a Difference" award in 1995. Mr. Allen considers his sacred music ministry to be one of great importance. He recognizes that through the medium of sacred song, deliverance, encouragement, healing, and inspiration lead to life transformation. He is a composer and arranger of gospel songs and hymns. His compositions include: Jesus, I Love to Praise Your Name, God is Good, Come and Go With Me, Lift Up Your Heads, and God's Presence. On March 25, 2001, Mr. Allen completed his first live recording, entitled "Songs of Praise: Volume I. The event was held at the beautiful Sharon Baptist Church in Philadelphia, PA, and featured the South Jersey Mass Choir & Friends. His CD "Greg Allen & Friends / Live in Philadelphia!"! was triumphantly released on Sunday, July 14, 2002 at Vine Memorial Baptist Church. Mr. Allen is a frequent presenter at The Thomas A. Dorsey (National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses), The Gospel Music Workshop of America, The Philadelphia Gospel Music Seminar (founded by the late Edwin Newberry), and The Annual Music Seminar hosted by Beulah Baptist Church. Mr. Allen is a member of ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers), the Music Educators National Conference, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, and other professional organizations.

Guest instrumentalists include producer, songwriter and organist-Daren Miller, Paul Williams-drums, Jermaine Childs-bassist, and composer/ keyboardist- David Winslow (David Winslow Singers). Excellent soloists........2004-12-30

Daniel Taylor and Ann Monoyios both are exceptional in these festive cantatas by Bach. Cantata 51 is especially wonderful, as is the wedding cantata. Taylor's and Monoyios' voices ring out clearly and beautifully. The choir is a little large and clarity in the choruses sometimes is less than stellar.

Overall, five stars because of the soloists, 4 stars for the instrumentalism and the choir. This is quite a find.
