Customer Reviews:
Has a few good songs.......2007-05-10
This CD has a few great hits on it, but the rest is rubbish. Not really worth spending money on, as there are much better albums out there, especially as electronic music enters a golden age.
weak........2006-06-19
Too fluffy for trance, too thumpy for pop. Remixes should -add something- to the underlying track but I can't tell that any of these are superior to the source material in any way.
Goes to show that every artist can be hit-and-miss, because I thought _Pictures_ was GREAT.
IMPRESSED... VERY IMPRESSED!!!!.......2005-05-08
I must say my fellow Electro heads... and if your one of them, then you know who I'm speaking of... Anyways, I've never really picked up one of Mass's CD's just because??? dont ask.. but once I picked this one up it was like ::jaw just dropped; Zombie look on my face::... I was in AWE... this is a ridiculous 'Set'... I've always heard that Timo was, how can I say this, OFF THE HoOk, and a great DJ/Producer, but you know what? This CD alone, may just inspire me to purchase more of his upcoming, not to mention earlier, CD Projects !!!...
To sum it up, IM JUST IMPRESSED!!! Plain and Simple, IMPRESSED.. Just like when I first heard DJ IIZAE spinning in this small club in New Jersey, I was like 'wow!' and drawn in by his flawless handling of records and the way he builds up a set and gets you on your feet and dancing... Isnt that what its all about?... Dancing?..
Well like I said... I'm I-M-P-R-E-S-S-E-D!!! Impressed w/ Timo on this ONE!!! IM OUT!! Gotta get back to this CD!! Peace!!
He plays other people's records.......2004-04-21
Timo Maas in a German DJ most known for his work with Placebo. Usually I am bored by most DJ mix CDs. But this one sounds like an original album. Maas remixes tracks by Garbage, Moloko, Moby, and of course, Placebo. Garbage's "Breaking UP The Girl" sounds like an electro track. Moloko's "Familiar Feelings" sounds like a calypso funk track. Maas takes a more trance treatment to Fatboy Slim and BT. Moby's "We Are All Made Of Stars" sounds like Joey Beltram. Placebo's "Special K" is another four to the floor stomper. Timo Maas moves in the interstices between trance techno and electro. He seems to adjust his aesthetic to meet to needs of American and British groups and DJs.
Tired.......2004-01-30
This mix sounds very tired. And even though it has a definite sound of mystic-boogie grooves with fascinating effects, fantastic sounds that work together to form a very lively organism, even though the mixing reflects Maas in all of his glory as both an artist and a skilled DJ, even though acid never left his music, and it still has a definite feeling to it, this album has a quality 'surface' sound and this music just wont get certain crowds to dance.
The scene has entered a very technical era where there is a ton of attention being put to the technical qualities of the music. Although the depth of the general sound was getting a little smaller, other qualities have been showing through: minimalism, freshness, out of this world sound.
Timo maas has really been floating on top for a while just picking a much more 'general audience' sound...the fruits of this approach really show through on Music for the Maases 2, Garbage, Fatboy Slim, Moby... I personaly feel that this is a very careless way of treating this music, especcially during these times when its fate depends greatly on the elite group of DJs and the Residents.
One AMAZING track off of here though: Moloko- Familiar Feelings "Timo maas remix"

Something new, something old, and something done yet again........2003-09-03
White the content is great the fact that all the tracks are combined into one single track on the CD is a real pain as you need to fast forward to whatever track you are wanting.
As for the music itself this is some great stuff, signature Maas and the remixing of broadly recognizable artists is appriciated. The Garbage track remix captures the feeling of the original with a new trance sound.

Timo the Maaster.......2003-05-20
This album carries the signature of Timo's unique sound, along with his very original twisted vibe. It's an excellent new sound from track to track, especially the mixing in the vocal tracks. I think it's very fresh. - Great job. Plus the DVD is pretty wild.. This album is an essential!!
