Fantastic!!! Fabulous!!! Outrageously Beautiful!!!.......2005-05-02

I discovered Kent very recently but have managed to acquire all of their albums in a short time. This is by far the best album Kent has released - and I love them all, whether they are being sung in Swedish or English (as in the case of Isola and Hagnesta Hill)! The sound is mellow, Jocke's voice is penetratingly beautiful and the lyrics, for us who know Swedish, are so poetic it almost hurts. I will most definately buy this album when it is released in English.

Kent is an unbelievable band, if you don't have Isola and Hagnesta Hill (english versions) then RUN and buy them now. Vapen & Ammunition is unfortunately in Swedish and I seriously doubt we will ever get another english Kent CD, since the rest of the world ignores them. But this takes up where Isola left off, and while Hagnesta is a great album it was a tad too synthy to equal Isola, and even though this is in Swedish i have a feeling this would have equaled Isola. I know this sounds crazy, but thats what happens when us anglos get addicted to Kent! So in summary - a worthy buy for the Kent fan, even if you don't speak the language. Hey, just think, when that Swedish exchange student comes over to your bachelor pad, you will have the perfect CD to make out to! That's what I'm counting on, anyways.

If you don't check out this CD you are basically denying yourself one of the best albums ever. It's even better than Hagnesta Hill, which was somehow even better than Isola..and so one back to Kent's debut CD. If you're into pop/rock/alternative at all, of just curious even, check this one out.

You've got to listen to this CD. It's one of the greatest CDs ever.

I happened to buy this CD when I took a trip to Sweden. At a music store, I asked local folks what they would recommend if I want to try a great Swedish band's CD. They said I should buy Kent's "Vapen & Ammunition" because everybody loves it.

I had no idea about Kent, but once I started listening to the CD, it instantly became my favorite. Not being able to understand Swedish language didn't matter. Every song was great -- I mean, every song. There is something special about this talent. Now I'm definitely a Kent fan.

Outstanding music, top to bottom.......2003-12-29

Even in Swedish, I think this is my favorite Kent album (with Hagnesta Hill a close second and Isola right behind...) The songs are well-written and well-performed, fabulous melodies and instrumentation. Give it a try and you will be hooked on Kent forever, I promise.

With the firepower title and powerhouse supporting cast--including Lucinda Williams, Tift Merritt, and the Jayhawks' Gary Louris--listeners might expect something a little more explosive than the stripped-down acoustic folk of most of this release. Tim Easton's songwriting can be as elliptical and enigmatic as the opening "Black Dog" or as straightforward as "Next to You," where the harmonies with Merritt have a pillow-talk intimacy. He pays homage to Bob Dylan with "News Blackout" (the protest side) and "C-Dub" (the bluesier side), and to folk-blues tradition with the closing "Sitting on Top of the World." Elsewhere, he extends the range of his material from the bittersweet kiss-off of "I Wish You Well" to the prayerful irony of "J.P.M.F.Y.M." ("Jesus, protect me from your followers"). The backing is typically so understated that the arrangements are almost subliminal, though Williams's vocal support on "Back to the Pain" seems more foreground than background to Easton's wispy, reedy voice, and the rock of "Not Today" seems all the more propulsive amid what surrounds it. --Don McLeese

This is a great album-I love his others-but this one hits some very real places within me. Tim's guitar playing is as crisp and clear as ever...his words are amazing-bringing the listener to their own Inside, a real luxury, to just glide on his tunes and simmer in the feelings that his music allows to surface. I'M AMAZED THAT NO ONE HAS REVIEWED THIS GORGEOUS DISC YET.
I WAS NOT A FAN OF HIS LAST CD BUT THIS NEW ONE HAS SOME OF THE PRETTIEST ACOUSTIC TUNES I HAVE HEARD IN A LONG TIME.
THE REASON FOR THE 4 STAR RATING IS BECAUSE OF THE VERY DYLAN HIGHWAY 61 STUFF SOUNDS TO FAMILIAR.GREAT VOCALS BY LUCINDA WILLIAMS AS WELL AS DRUMMING BY JAYHAWKS TIM O'REAGAN.

I picked this up from a friend and just cant get over how good it is. Ive listened to old ska and reggae for some time but always thought that I was attracted because of the pop aspect of it all. No longer do I think that, im now in love with dub. Simply put its one of the best and most appreciated surprises ive had in the last few years... brilliant.

Those of you who are familiar to the video game "Guitar Hero" should know who Drist is, their song "Decontrol" appears in the game as well as on this album. This high energy rock adventure has solid songs from top to bottom. From "Decontrol" that I mentioned earlier,"Arterial Black" that has been confirmed to appear on the sequel to the hit video game "Guitar Hero 2" the Depeche Mode cover "Stripped" and the hight impact "Herophilia" you get a plethora of strong tracks. Their sound reminds me of a harder "Finger Eleven" and a softer "Spineshank".The guitarist work on this album is really unique and clever. I think you will really enjoy this album,If you like good rock music give it a shot you wont be dissapointed

Ammunition sounds like the middle of an epic, discordant jam session, one that extends infinitely from the beginning of track one to the end of track 10. All four members of this Seattle-based band are originally from Austin, so there is an influence of Texan rock along with a dose of Seattle hipster cred. The album rocks and rolls consistently from beginning to end, but standout tracks include "Loon" and "Epic Jams," which includes some strange cello sounds. Overall it's a fun and interesting musical journey, one that most will enjoy. And if you don't, at least give them credit for having a great name: The Charming Snakes - get it? It's awesome.
