    Album Description

    A genre and gender-defying mix of rock, pop, and dance inspired by burlesque, drag queens, and glam rock, New York's Scissor Sisters made a big splash in late 2003/early 2004 with their neon-bright re-imagining of Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb," the B-side to the band's first single "Electrobix."

    This isn't a review really. I've ordered probably about 100 CD's from Amazon in the past year. Fillin' up my iPod with genuine copies of music. Of those roughly 100 CD's, I've only got one defective, this one. So, I asked for a replacement. Got another defective one! If I got two defective of the same CD, and nothing else I've got from Amazon has been defective, makes me think they got a defective batch.

    Uggh, this is a terrible remix from the one of the worst bands out there: Scissor Sisters. Ooooohhh, they took the songs from their debut and threw in another keyboard! What a great Remix! NOT! All this time I thought that only bands who had talent and wrote their own songs were worthy of remixes. I can't believe the Scissor Sisters took one of the greatest song in Rock (Comfortably Numb), and turned it into a radio friendly dance song! Ahh! What's next? Ashlee Simpson doing Stairway To Heaven? If you want some GOOD remixes, try any of the Nine Inch Nails remix albums, whixh rock. Trent takes the amazing songs he writes and turns them into something completely new- almost as if you've never heard the song before. This sucks.

    I Love this album, they did a great job remixing their songs and 2 b-sides. Electrobix wich talks about being gay and feeling weird and The Skins which talks about cheating on someone via internet. The remixes are great especially the FILTHY/GORGEOUS remix!

    What's better than a Scissor Sisters album? The remix album, of course! You have to hear the remix of "Comfortably Numb," and the extended version of "Filthy/Gorgeous" is simply amazing! These guys get better and better. No wonder why they're the fastest-selling group around!

    These songs that are on this CD are very hard to find. I have most of them on vinyl but not on CD. The songs are great and only Paul Anka could deliver them the right way. The CD is magnificent. If you liked Paul Anka this is for you. He always writes great songs.. I have been playing this in my car for about 2 weeks now. Happy to find these songs on CD.

    If you've bought Pete Fountain's CD's with him performing live, especially in the 60's and 70's, you heard pure Pete at his best. I have been searching for a CD version of an album with "perfida" and some equally beautiful selections. However, Pete Fountain's "A Touch of Class" is equally remarkable. He's still pretty terrific Now (see him in New Orleans to get the full experience). Pete loves the audience and it shows when he performs. Each note has his signature kiss. (okay, I'm getting a bit carried away, but it happens when I hear Pete Fountain)

    My father listened to Pete Fountain when I was young so I am very familiar with his music. Though I am not a fan of Dixie music I do like his clarinet playing. This CD is more classics and the playing is wonderful. A good buy.

    This is an excellent guitar collection; in fact, it is an excellent classical anthology, guitar or otherwise. Angel Romero and his son, Lito (heard on tracks five through seven), represent the second and third generations of a family of guitar virtuosi.

    A number of the selections are more commonly heard performed by piano; however, in the hands of a guitarist of the calibre of Angel Romero, what can be done on the piano can be done with at least equal efficacy on the guitar. The only non-Western piece is the variations on Sakura, which should be particularly pleasant listening experience for those not previously familiar with it.

    If one is building a classical music library, this is a recording that one should want to include.

    Angel Romero is one of three classical guitar-playing brothers, one of the others being Pepe (who is also excellent). I purchased this CD solely to get the hauntingly beautiful "Cavatina" from the movie "Deer Hunter." I've been very happy with this recording - the Cavatina is lovely, there are some "classical guitar standards," and some other pleasant surprises. I like the Variations on "Greensleeves," and variations on a Japanese folk song, "Sakura." The sound quality is typical Telarc, which I generally find to be top-notch.

    Aficionados of classical guitar music will especially enjoy this CD, in my opinion, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants some lovely, tranquil music to either listen to or to use as unobtrusive background music.

    Eh. Uneven and often boring to be honest. "Flawless" is a great song, to be sure. And the Scissor Sister cuts are good remixes. But, for my tastes, in the end the mixes are overly repetitive, unimaginative and often not very danceable. Too bad because on the Touch of Class website they have some really great dance mixes you can download. Go there, not here.

    A collective out of NYC, this brings together seemingly disparate and unrelated artists such as ARE Weapons and Scissor Sisters (who completely SHRED Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb"--imagine it being interpreted by the Bee Gees circa Saturday Night Fever). Track for track the best dance comp around, for those who prefer Frankie Goes To Hollywood to the likes of ATB.

      This is what my reviewer Kris had to say about this album... "My overall reaction to this CD is that it's a bit blase. Which isn't to say that it's poorly done. The mixing is tight, there's plenty of energy and it strikes a fine balance between eclecticism and monotony. But in the end, too much of this just seems like uninteresting pop rock fused with dance elements we've heard before. No doubt this album would go over well in a club or at a party because there are plenty of dancers and listeners who will appreciate the vibe on tap here. But the hook missed me by a few inches. There are some bright spots in an otherwise unassuming album, however. The two remixes of songs by The One (these are all remixes and "productions" by A Touch of Class, by the way) are compelling, with "Ultramodern (ATOC Old School Dub)", for example, mixing modern dance flavors with retro touches. Then there's the trance meets synth pop lushness of "Erklonig" by Waldorf. I was, of course, enamored by the rocked up mix of Scissor Sisters' "Filthy/Gorgeous". And none of this is bad.       I just recently found out about the band, The Class of '98, and within a few days hopped on Amazon to buy their CD. I basically fell in love with them right off! Their tunes are basic pop/punk--very catchy and upbeat. I particularly like the track "Christy's Wedding." It's definatly one of the best songs on the album. This CD is easy to listen to straight through at one time and fun to sing along with. You'll probably find the songs stuck in your head all day!

      This is a great CD to listen to - it's incredibly upbeat and just plain fun. The band has a very full and uptempo sound. It's great for driving, listening to while picking up around the house, and singing along to. I highly recommend it!

      the first few reviews on here are basically from music snobs who have nothing better to do than seek out every band that's half-ass to their own standards of all-time-classic indie-genre rock and just rail them for not writing the most sincere and anthematic subculture standard of our time. these people need to get a life. but let's be honest here...it is a really good cd. for what it is. the lyrics are basic (not cheesy), the music is catchy. in a previous review, a writer stated that he wanted to drive off the side of the road after hearing one of the songs. the only reason you'd get in a wreck while listening to this cd would be from flailing your arms about and away from the steering wheel and swerving into oncoming traffic because you just had to dance-and-drive.

      look at the recent commerical success of emo-punk/powerpop: militia did not make a mistake in signing this band. if you're pissed that this style of music is popular now, then go listen to and/or review sigur ros and sufjan and detest anything that's less than pure poetry. if you ENJOY music (a la jimmy eat world, all american rejects, or relient K), then you can't go wrong with The Class of 98.

      I ordered the cd and listened to the whole thing in one sitting. I just liked it--every song. It's the kind of music I miss hearing. I spread the love to a friend, who downloaded it on itunes within 24 hours of hearing it. It's just good.

      Don't believe the bad reviews on this site for this cd. I heard a little bit of this cd on The Militia Group's site and decided to give this cd a try. It is actually a really good cd. There are a lot of good songs on this album. This disc is definitely worth picking up.
