The first question everyone asks about Collision Course is "Is this album more Jay-Z or Linkin Park?" The wrong answer is that it's Jay-Z with a loud band or a back-and-forth of covers where one rearranges the other. The right answer is that this CD/DVD set is quite possibly one of the best cross-genre pairings of its kind. What started off as an exercise at "mashing" a Linkin Park track with a Jay-Z track turned into a fantastic pickup game between two artists at the top of their worlds. Each brought a short list of their best songs to the field and walked away with a six-song trophy. This is recess in the supergroup sandbox, and the boys shared their toys. "Numb/Encore" and "Izzo/In the End" are near-perfect plays of seamless sonic moves and mic assists from heavy metal to hip-hop and back. Both artists have spent a little time in the other camp on various parts of their records, but it's the collaboration that makes this album a winner. It may be true that Linkin Park is less than convincing than J-Hova on "Big Pimpin'/Papercut," but there's no evidence of "I" on this team. In fact, the DVD clearly shows Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda taking on the role of head coach as he commands the digital workstation, the mixing desk, and all the players with a collective spirit. --Pete Hilgendorf

JeffyJordan.......2007-07-16
I really liked it. I was looking for Lincoln Park, and I found this. The only thing that I wish is that there was more songs on it.
Not worth your money.......2007-05-13
I was really looking forward to listening to a great CD. Instead I was extremely disapointed. There are probably only 2 good songs on the CD. Not worth your money.
Whiny __________ & a __________ rapper.......2007-04-12
Not only do both of them suck at music, mixing them together dosen't work out. Indeed, this is one nasty collision.
I'd like for you to think of the wretchedness that this cd makes of itself. Don't even think that this will work, it dosen't. I don't even reccomend this to Linkin Park fans. It's better without Jay-Z trying to rap about the ________ no one cares about. Or better yet, _________ em both and get THe BEastie Boys or something else.
And it's a ripoff too. Watching them live realized how much they ________ suck at the guitar or the other _______ they try to do.
Amazing.......2007-03-09
This CD is a must-own. I love this CD. I wasn't a big fan of Jay-Z, but I love Linkin Park and these guys just mesh so well together, I'm certainly a fan now. I only wish the CD would have been longer but that's my only complaint, I love it otherwise. Great job!!!!!
Awesome genre mix.......2007-01-21
What can you say? Linkin Park and Jay-Z is a great mix. The songs are awesome. The beats they make by mixing the two genres make this a MUST HAVE cd.

The Evil Genius Lends A Hand To LP's Emcee
DJ Green Lantern invades the mixtape game with Fort Minor on this
major motion mixtape. For those unfamiliar, Mike Shinoda (lead singer
for the platinum rock group Linkin Park) has branched out and created
his hip-hop identity, Fort Minor. With an album due out at the end of '05
(executive produced by Jay-Z), this is the official mixtape beforehand.

better than Rising Tide.......2007-02-04
I loved Rising Tide. but after playing it for a few days, I grew quite tired of it. and after listening to the Mixtape, I realized what I was missing. The Mixtape is absolutely worth listening, it is like no other remix out there. I mean, Jimi Hendrix remix? hell yes! My favorite is the Bloc Part ft. Apathy and Styles of Beyond. and including Lupe Fiasco just made this mixtape all the more enjoyable. GET THIS

Wow. Now let me repeat myself. Wow.
This is a Mixtape Masterpiece.
Now first off, I'd just like to point out that this Mixtape, is in fact legal.
Not like most Mixtapes that are actually illegal.

So after you've purchased the Mixtape CD, feel free to make copies of it, and give it to friends, but please encourage them to also buy a copy, so as to support M. Shinoda (aka Fort Minor), along with getting a copy or two of "The Rising Tied".

Dope.......2006-04-18
This is the best mixtape I've ever heard. I'm not really into the mixtape scene, primarily because most of them recycle the same beats too much for me, but this one is way different. Fort Minor got creative with this one.
The production on this mixtape is off the charts. It makes the cd. Shinoda kills this mixtape production wise, and he is quickly becoming one of my favorite producers in the game. This cd contains some innovative sampling from bands you wouldn't expect to hear on a hip hop mixtape including: Guns N Roses, Jimi Hendrix, Rush, and Bloc Party; and some of the beats on here will amaze you.
Shinoda is not the most gifted emcee, but he is capable of holding his own on the mic. Apathy and Lupe Fiasco spit some fire on this cd though. Styles of Beyond and Celph Titled have their moments on the mic as well. There is even surprise guest appearance by Juelez Santana on here, who spits a hot verse also.
The official cd Fort Minor put out-"The Rising Tied" used to get a lot of air time in my whip, but this mixtape has pretty much replaced it in my cd rotation. One of my boys told me "DUDE, You GOTTA burn this cd for me" after hearing three songs on it. Fort Minor: We Major is an underground gem.
Here is a quick summary of this review--You want to own this cd. The End.

Better than expected.......2007-06-28
Personally I'm not a fan of rap perfromers such as Jay-Z, still like LP's style. But mixed with LP's beats and lyrics this is worth listening. Some parts of this release are spectacular and both performers complement each other very nicely. However only there are only 6 tracks. Other parts with only rap-style beats and Jay-Z's voice alone don't sound so attractive.
Overall: recommended if you either like LP or Jay-Z.
Mediocre.......2006-07-05
This is a decent mash up, but moreso, it's the record companies seeing something amazing done online and trying to capitalize on it.
DJ DangerMouse's Grey Album struck huge on the net. Mixing The Beatles White Album with Jay-Z's Black Album, which became The Grey Album. If you liked this, you'll be blown away by the Grey Album. You can still find it on the net if you look hard enough. And best of all, it's free. I'd recommend googling it and giving it a listen.
Also, if you want a funny not-so-serious attempt at mash ups, google Jay-Zeezer. Jay-Z's Black Album mixed with Weezers Blue album. It gives for some amusing songs. Although the bonus track 99 Luft Problems is actually really neat, and sounds awesome. 99 problems mixed with 99 red balloons. Fun stuff.
Linkin Park + Jay-Z = Good Album.......2006-03-21
An album with songs from Jay-Z and Linkin Park, mixed to make a new one. I didn't like Jay-Z when I heard some of his raps, but this album is pretty decent. It made me get into Jay-Z a bit more. Even though you'd think that Linkin Park and Jay-Z wouldn't make a good combination, its actually good.
1.Dirt Off Your Shoulder/Lying From You
OK, I'll admit I don't like the first verse much, the metal is brung down and vocals too. But the chorus and next verses, which is from Dirt Off Your Shoulders, brings back some of the rock with the creepiness from Lying From You. It sounds good. Then it goes back to the 2nd verse of Lying From You. It's not that good, but the bring back the chorus and ending of it and that makes the song nearly perfect.
4.5/5
2.Big Pimpin'/Papercut
I can't stand this song. I don't think verses of Papercut mix well with some crappy jungle beat (which I think is from Big Pimpin'). It doesn't make the song how it's supposed to be. The rap from Big Pimpin' is good, but it still doesn't make this song good or catchy. Its a good attempt but to me it just doesn't fit good together.
2/5
3.Jigga What/Faint
The first verse of this, from Jigga What, is fast and catchy, but it has a lot of cursing. Then after its over the first verse of Faint comes without the rock and not much feeling. But after its over the thrashing metal of Faint comes in for the bridge between the 1st verse of Faint and the next verse of Jigga What, with the guitars playing as it was a verse from Faint. The rest does pretty much the same thing with the music from Faint playing almost normally. Chester's screaming solo is just as it was from Faint. I love Faint and mixing it with Jigga What did not get rid of the awesomeness. But really, it didn't bring it up too much either. This is a very good track, its worth listening to.
5/5
4.Numb/Encore
The only track that got a single off this album and is one of the biggest hits of all Linkin Park songs. The music and beats is all from Numb, while almost the whole song is Jay-Z rapping Encore. His rapping fits almost perfectly with the music as it does with most of the others. Then after a while from Jay-Z's rapping, Chester starts singing the first verse of Numb, then chorus of it with Jay-Z's Encore. That makes an excellent combination. Thats probably why they made a single of it. I think this song is amazing, but I would rather have Jigga What/Faint as a single more than this.
5/5
5.Izzo/In The End
This is not a very good song to me. The hip-hop from Izzo is good, but the verses of In The End does NOT mix good with it. The rap is slowed down and lost all feeling. Except Jay-Z's rap, which is alright. The song is a bit short for a mix between 2 songs. Theres only 1 verse from In The End with some other parts, and the rest is pretty much Izzo. I love In The End, and Izzo is OK, but they don't do good together.
3/5
6.Points Of Authority/99 Problems/One Step Closer
3 songs mixed together, comes out with a good result, but could of been better. At first, its music from Points Of Authority and rapping from 99 Problems. Then the music changings to One Step Closer but still raps from 99 Problems. And the only singing that is not 99 Problems is the close the end, where Chester starts singing the "Shut up!" part. Then it goes to the One Step Closer chorus with Jay-Z's song. The beat from Points Of Authority is good with Jay-Z's rapping, but it gets old soon. It sounds just as good with One Step Closer. I really like this track, but the beats from Points of Authority gets stuck in my head when I listen to it.
4/5
That's all I've got to say about this album. I would rather see them mix a Jay-Z song with Breaking The Habit, even though it probably wouldn't sound good. So if you're a Linkin Park or Jay-Z fan, I suggest you buy this album or listen to the tracks.
This was a good album.......2006-03-06
people, dont diss other music just because youdont like it, the whole world doesnt revolve around what you like, and linkin pakr isnt the best band in the world and jay z isnt the worst rapper, i loved this album because at times rap gets me really pumped up, and so does rock, and when you put then together it makes actually a really nice sound, i liked the album i thought it was a nice new creative outburst. so i would reccomend this album to anyone who likes to get pumped up
kiddies pls let the pros review music!!!!.......2006-01-15
first off, grow out of ignorance... then come back to amazon to do reviews!! i cant believe they allow ppl with no knowledge of the word impartial to post! anyways lets proceed with this review... i wont go song for song, so lets keep this short but sweet, i underestimated Lp and j-zay doing a collabo.... but then if u listen to reanimation LP was clearly ready for this project.. and hova was def open to the whole project... after all he especifically chose lp, so that goes without saying... i enjoyed this album its a fresh collabo its pushing the envelope in in era of stale music. much props to LP for being the most influential rock/rap group in years, and to Jay-Z for provividing us with a classic catalog of rap music. ppl with open minds will enjoy this project for sure

Customer Reviews:
A valiant effort.......2006-12-31
The scariest thing about this CD is that it works. Perhaps more well than some think it should. Seriously, I love the concept, and I can't find very much in the way of negative things to say about it except for one thing--one impotant thing: the mixing sounds terrible. Each mash-up has amazing potential to be a fixture on my playlist were it not for the terrible unevenness of the CD's overall sound; some tracks are pumped beyond reason with bass, some are completely lacking in midrange, while others are hissing acid needles with high-end. Several of the tracks sound like at least one of the songs, the rap or the rock, was pulled from a badly-compressed MP3. For its ambition and exciting textures, the end result sounds disappointingly amateurish in the way of production. Be warned: if you care about your ears, you're probably going to have to rip this CD to your hard drive and remaster it yourself before really enjoying it. But if you've already blown a ton of frequencies right out of your ears, I think you'll love this CD right out of the case.
Good.......2006-12-11
It's a good album. when rock is mixed with rap its bound to be good. so buy it. worth a listen. btw the dmx and the nirvana song does work.
Awesome Mixtape.......2006-07-26
The only reason I got this CD is because I heard that Mike Shinoda was on it. I bought it off of eBay. The 1st time I popped it in, I didn't like it. I thought that DJ Vlad and Roc Raida were fools for butchering rock songs with rap verses. But, the more I listened to it, the more I realized the great blend of rock and hip-hop. Some of the tracks don't really work together, like DMX rapping over "Smells Like Teen Spirit". That one just doesn't work. Overall, this is good. This kicks Linkin Park's butt. if you are an LP fan, BUY IT. If you like both rock and rap, I highly recommend it.

This album is decent but in my opinion nothing like Heresy. Music wise it's really good but the vocals get annoying after a while. If you were or are a Paradox fan it's worth getting just to hear the band 11 years after Heresy.

One of the BEST OF ALL TIME........2001-04-25
If you get one cd this year, make sure it is this one. Paradox's long awaited 3rd release is definantly one for the ages. I'vebeen listening to metal for 20 years and this one goes into the top five instantly. If you are unfamiliar with Paradox you will still love this album. If you like ULTRA POWER AND SPEED, then you will love this album. If you like older releases such as Heresy then you will love this album. Collision Course will not disappoint, and if you buy it and don't like it, then you really don't know great metal when you here it. Path of Denial, the 4th song on the album is worth the price of the cd alone. It is probably the best metal song I've ever heard. The good thing with this import is the fact that you get 3 extra songs, which i did not get on mine. There is really no comparisons to make with this one, ITS THAT GOOD. BUY IT.

Product Description
After their 2002 debut "The Beginning" quickly became a subculture favorite, 2005 marked the unleashing of a heavier, even more guitar-driven sound for The Sins. "The Last One Kills" is an edgy, dirty, high-energy romp which still manages to work in a few slower tracks for fans of NightMare Boy's brooding bass-baritone vox and Jyri Glynn's haunting violin.
Customer Reviews:
fun, well textured, and unique.......2005-07-20
The band has actual guitar riffs.
(if you liked Beautiful Creatures these riffs would be enjoyable) They are not the todays rock scene where that is usually nothing but power chord based pop songs. Its a pleasure that they provide that rock element called melody that has been avoided by many pretty boy bands of today.
They also have an electric violinist which adds a nice touch to a smooth melody to some of the ballads. (this is great in a Dave Mathew's Band way, only this is for a metal/rock band) Also in the up beat songs the violin adds as a rock/blues harmonica would.
Lyric wise you will find them to be quite fun and sung well. No shouting or beer raspy scratchy voices. I've commented on the singer's voice sounding as if he is the son of David Bowie. (do not get the impression that he is a David Bowie otherwise I would've used the word clone which then could be bad) The song progressions are nice and they do not all follow the pop mandatory of verse, chorus verse chorus with little musical moments here and there.
They have guitar solos and violin solos and moments where they are just jamming the riffs out. Much beautiful approach that is not lyric or singer based, its nice to hear the music at even ends (the singer plays guitar too so everyone is rockin'!)
Each song does not start the exact same way which is great because its rather annoying listenning to a CD hearing that each song sounds a like with little difference as if you didn't like one song, then you'd be given the same one with a little difference - you wont get that here. The songs are well placed and in a good order to each other, a very good listen. Find them on myspace for song samples of "Walk", "Love In Blood", & "Nothing". I personally enjoy "Girl In Glass", "Into the Chaos", "Nothing", "Day I Die", "Devil Behind The Door", "Walk", "The ballad of Mr.Thicket", & "Mirror".
For the hollywood pretentious compliments like "a triumph!" lets see what we cuold use:
"kick-@$$" "rock-n-roll in metal" "talented in a genre that usually has none, or forgot it, or has too little of"
I hope this does the band justice, if you do not think so, please write a review about them. the more the better. the idea is to put what the band sounds like when amazon won't let you sample it for yourself to hear. I love these guys.
