5 out of 5 stars Unbelievable Album!.......2007-05-02

You want rock ballads? You got it. You want psychedelic rock? It's here. You want punk? Ya, there's that too. You want great songs? Every song on this album is memorable. This is an extremely underrated album by an amazing band, Cornell's voice is probably the best of the 90's, Cameron is a solid drummer and Thayil is an equally impressive guitarist. "Burden In My Hand" is still one of my favorite songs of the 90's, and if you can't get into "No Attention," "Tighter & Tighter," and "Pretty Noose," well then your just not a fan of rock. "Zero Chance" is a beautiful number as well, and "Applebite" provides us with a perfect psychedelic change of pace from a first half of the album that is really just straight rock. This album is sprawling in that if covers so many different types of rock, but this doesn't compromise its cohesiveness, right down to the excellent title, the album is a classic. I wish with all my heart this wasn't the end to Soundgarden, but you know, so few bands end at the top of their game and Soundgarden most definetly there Down on the Upside.

5 out of 5 stars i guess it gets better with time..........2007-04-17

funny thing... when this album first came out, i just couldnt get used to it. I gave it a few listens but chocked it up to a one hit wonder with burden in my hand. THat was , well, several years ago. I started listening to it again last month and I am stunned. This very well could unseat superunknown as soundgardens greatest work. It just rocks thats all I can say. Lot of emotion in the songs. Give it a listen

5 out of 5 stars Another strong album.......2007-03-30

What can you say about Soundgarden that isn't bad? They're an awesome band with one of the greatest vocalist of my generation. They really know how to rock out and I really enjoy their music. This album is another success in my eyes. Even though they split, I will be a die hard fan until I pass. I would also highly recommend all Audioslave albums.

5 out of 5 stars Going Out on Top.......2007-03-29

Years from now fans will look back at the Seattle scene of the early 1990s and they will say "man, that Soundgarden did not really get the attention they deserved." Soundgarden was true to the music all the way through. Like with this album, they could belt out the catchy tune with songs like "Pretty Noose" and then jam out on "Rhonosaur" and "No Attention." Yes, this album is maybe a tad more mellow than the first ones, probably Chris Cornell's mellowing, which would sadly lead to the founding of Audioslave. But make no mistake, just because this is their last and least talked about album, does not mean it is not great.

5 out of 5 stars Completely stunning exit piece.......2007-02-11

This is the kind of album that makes me wish Soundgarden was still around - about the only memory I had of them when they were still together (when I was still a kid) was the video for Black Hole Sun. Happens with a lot of bands with me, really; by the time I listen to their albums and appreciate their music, they've been well broken up.

Anyhow, although I only have this, Badmotorfinger, and Superunknown, this is by far my favorite, and probably still would be if I owned Ultramega OK and Louder Than Love. Took me a while to get used to it, but I find that the album has incredible diversity that just blows away the already considerable diversity present on its two predecessors - with a range from metal (or grunge, whatever you want to call Soundgarden) (Pretty Noose, Rhinosaur, possibly Blow Up The Outside World, and Never The Machine Forever), punk (Dusty, Ty Cobb, No Attention, Never Named), and psychedelic / Soundgarden's strange but great mix of metal and psychedilic / acoustic-tinged ballads (Zero Chance, Blow Up The Outside World, Burden In My Hand, Applebite, Tighter & Tighter, Switch Opens, Overfloater, An Unkind, Boot Camp). These are just general ideas of the kind of genres that Soundgarden touch upon here - it's tough to lump all these songs into one specific genre, it's more like a blending of a bunch of them on most of the songs.

Finally, if I had to pick a few of the songs on here to dissect, it'd be these:

Pretty Noose - the one I know that got radio play, since it had that familiar feeling when I first heard it. Catchy, yet abnormal, riff and great vocals by Chris Cornell; rhythm section keeps it together pretty well.

Burden In My Hand - on of the more radio-friendly songs on here, like Pretty Noose, but still certainly not a sell-out. Nice acoustic touch with Kim Thayil's guitar coming in after the first few minutes to add some diversity. Just plain good combination of acoustic and electric guitar, and it really shows me that Soundgarden knows there stuff; maybe it's just me, but I find it difficult for bands to get a good blend of both together and keep it interesting.

Tighter & Tighter - besides Burden In My Hand, this is the one that jumps out at me the most, I don't there's another song similar to it on the album. Matt Cameron starts it off loudly in sync with Kim Thayil's catchy guitar riff, a great way to get the listener's attention. Goes on in a psychedelic fashion (with Kim Thayil's guitar solo about 2/3 into the song interrupting the slow tempo) that's captivating and never boring, with the beginning riff slightly altered for the verses and Chris Cornell singing without going overboard. The tempo resumes slightly after Thayil's solo before errupting into another one as the tempo of the song picks up a lot until the end of the song (with Thayil, Cameron, and Cornell practically going crazy there at the end).

Boot Camp - probably my favorite song on here, and just so different than the other songs on here (although doesn't quite grab the listener the same was as Tighter & Tighter). Opens with light, psychedelic-sounding electric guitar until the vocals start - my favorite of Cornell's, as it fits the song just perfectly in how melodic it is. One of the lines: "There must be something else, there must be something good, far away, far away from here", would be a perfect description of where I'm at in life and how I feel about that. I find it oddly ironic that this song also serves as an almost biography of Soundgarden - in the underlying tone, one can literally feel the impending break-up of the band. Would be a perfect song for 2006 / 2007, with the state of an America still engaged in the Iraq War, too.

There's not really many songs on here that I don't like - can't say I care much for Never Named, and No Attention seems sort of bland with not as much interesting happening compared to the other songs.

Hope everyone that sees this enjoys this review - it's actually my first one on Amazon.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome rock.......2007-05-13

All the songs are good; excellent use of keyboards along with the guitar riffs.
The intro and the 2nd song are awesome!
HOL is a really good rock band.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome.......2007-05-03

I rated this album a 5 because I thought a 4 was too low. Great songwriting, great melodies, great hooks. There are no "filler" songs on this album - ALL the songs are good. I would go so far as to say the best album House of Lords has recorded. Well worth the money.

5 out of 5 stars Their best one to date...hands down!.......2007-04-26

I've been following House of Lords for quite sometime now and I have to say, this is their best one yet! Eventhough one of my favortie drummers played on Sahara, Tommy Aldridge, World Upside Down surpasses that release as well. Every song is melodic hard rock bliss with their hooks, choruses, big guitars, big drums, intricate keyboards, and the big bottom end! If you like classy hard rock music in the vein of Whitesnake, Hardline, and Danger Danger, then buy House of Lords' "World Upside Down". Don't wait another minute!

5 out of 5 stars House Of Lords - Melodic Rock At It's Best!!.......2007-04-21

World Upside Down is a must for any House Of Lords fan or an melodic rock fan in general. It's a shame to see that this CD is not available in wide release in the USA. Spend the extra few dollars and pick it up as an import.. well worth it!

4 out of 5 stars Not quite at their best...but close!.......2007-04-16

House of Lords are one of the most underrated bands from eighties/nineties. Their debut album should have seen success like the Whitesnake 1987 album, but was not promoted heavily enough. Most fans have been waiting for a return to form. Well, this album is close, but bringing the sound more up to date. It's probably third best to Sahara and their self-titled album, but is a worthy purchase if you like hard melodic rock from the late eighties.

4 out of 5 stars OK.......2005-03-17

Good CD, especially if you're a fan of Mark O'Conner. I have to admit that a couple of the tracks seem rather directionless (in a Vaughn Williams sort of way) and I tend to lose interest, but other tracks are fun, even exciting. The production is excellent throughout.

4 out of 5 stars Great Music.......2004-02-27

I watched the documentary and heard Mark O'Connor play this piece in a concert and loved it immediately. The music is great to help the battles come alive but great for just listening to anyway.

5 out of 5 stars GREAT SOUNDTRACK!.......2003-07-04

Fine CD full of great pieces of music from a great miniseries! Full of patriotism! I highly recommend it! Grade: A+

5 out of 5 stars Finest Music Ever Heard.......2002-03-27

I heard this music on the excellent P B S Documentary: "Liberty - the American Revolution" and I knew I had to have it! It is the finest music I have heard, capturing the heart and soul of the American Revolution. The documentary "Liberty" was a masterpiece that was beautiful and moving. So too this music with its most wonderful arrangements and accompaniment. I love it! I could hardly wait to get it in the mail. It framed the documentary (which I also bought) like a great frame compliments a beautiful canvas painting. Superlatives fail me. This music must be experienced by first watching the great series on the American Revolution and then by listening to it apart. This is some of the most wonderful music I have ever heard. It reminds me of the genius of Aaron Copland who wrote the Applachian Spring and Rodeo suites.

5 out of 5 stars Stirring Americana.......2001-11-10

This CD stands on its own merits as good music, not simply as music for a TV show. It evokes images of America old and new. O'Connor's violin carries us from the dance hall to the battlefield to the sorrow of lover's lost. Simple melodies twist and turn, rising up from their solid American roots. James Taylor's solemn rendition of "Johnny's Gone for a Soldier"is as true a telling of the grief of the soldier lost to war today as it was hundreds of years ago. Sit in a comfortable chair in the warm light of evening and let it surround you. To know where we have come from offers hope that the magic of freedom and liberty will not desert us in these troubled times.

5 out of 5 stars A great message........2006-04-21

I had this CD delivered to someone I filled a lawsuit against. They finally settled out of court in my favor. When they asked what was this? My lawyer indicated, "Why don't you know your history? The title piece was the tune British General Cornwallis played at the surrender of Yorktown to General Washington."

How fitting!

5 out of 5 stars A thoroughly enjoyable album.......2005-01-30

I love this album, and I listen to it frequently. Barry Phillips, I hope you follow up this album with another one that is very similar to this one. The musicianship is superb. It is a highly enjoyable album.

5 out of 5 stars Simply Delightful and Delightfully Simple!.......2000-12-31

Barry Philips has assembled a very fine group of musicians here, performing on period instruments of the American Revolution era. Expect to hear bright and lively arrangements with such instruments as the mountain dulcimer, bowed psaltery, fiddle, and clavichord. These were the real "folk tunes" of those times, and while strictly instrumental, they express such sentiments as love, lost love, the joy of sighting attractive horses on the run... the simple stuff of life that often goes overlooked.

The songs reflect a nice representation of styles and tempos; though all are unmistakably American colonial in flavor. This is a nice disk to enhance appreciation of early American historical music. Also, it is an unexpected but enthusiastically received alternative to the Sousa marches for any Fourth of July gathering. People will likely ask you "What are you playing and where did you get it?" Then you can explain that it is the kind of everyday music our forefathers enjoyed. But don't just leave this one on the shelf until Independence Day... its simple yet heartfelt tunes will pick you up on any day.

In a similar vein, though different, and highly recommended: "New Britain: The Roots of American Folk Song" Joel Cohen and the Boston Camerata, "A Land of Pure Delight: Anthems and Fuging Tunes" Paul Hillier and His Majestie's Clerkes. Enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars A musical exploration of early America.......1998-09-07

Barry Phillips, always a tasteful musician, has constructed a wonderful example of early American musical history. Phillips and company use a variety of period and folk instruments, including fiddle, cello, dulcimers, flutes, and psalteries to revitalize these simply beautiful and haunting tunes. It is highly recommended for anyone interested in folk and traditional music, as well as those who enjoy rich, soft, listening pleasures.

5 out of 5 stars The Spin Doctor's finest hour.......2005-09-11

"Biscuit Head" aside, this album is full of strong - if not catchy - songwriting. Chris Barron is at his lyrical peak here, shining brightly on You Let Your Heart Go Too Fast and More Than Meets The Ear. Eric Schenkman's guitar work is less bluesy and more inventive than that on Pocket Full of Kryptonite. While the album is free of the hooks that, for many, made the Spin Doctors who they are today, it is truly the original band at the top of their game.

5 out of 5 stars great cd.......2004-09-18

turn it upside down is probably the most overlooked doctors cd. i dont see how people could review this cd negatively. this is one of my favorite cd's hands down. i dont rate cd's on commercial success and how good their singles are because those are the only songs people take notice too. this cd is amazing. its a very optimistic album and i love everything about it. im not going to go on about my favorite songs because thats a personal opinion and really doesnt make much sense for me to try and influence your opinion for the cd. you should take a listen and form your own opinion. this is one of those cd's that grows on you more and more each time you listen to it. take a listen and youll be hooked.

5 out of 5 stars Possibly the best record of the 90's.......2003-05-21

I voted for this album as the top album of the decade in a Rolling Stone poll. I bought it when I was 13 and my taste in music was evolving. I had to listen to it a couple times for it to grow on me and then the more I listened the more I liked it. I cant give you a technical, intelligent-sounding, mumbo jumbo review, but what I can do is tell you this is some good music. You Let Your Heart go too fast(the 2nd song on the album) is one of the best songs I have ever heard. Chris Barron is truly the greatest singer in rock music, his voice expresses such joy and optimism. Get this album, listen to it and you will thank yourself for doing so.

5 out of 5 stars This Is Fabulous.......2001-06-29

Success hits a lot of bands hard, but few harder than the Spin Doctors. Like many bands, the Doctors had the proverbial lifetime to write their first album, and just a few short months to deliver a second. And in those months, they were constantly attacked by Pocketful Of Kryptonite was critics and alt-rock fans, who thought they sneaked onto the charts through deceptive marketing. They didn't weather the criticism especially well, and their second record, Turn It Upside Down, is pretty much an over-thought mess. They were at their best turning out tuneful, barroom rockers, occasionally letting them run a little bit longer with jams. Here, the jams, not the songs, are at the foundation of the music, and there are no hooks (outside of "Cleopatra's Cat"). Furthermore, the production is cautious and glossy, resulting in a stillborn album that shows everything that could go wrong when a jam band decided to plunge headfirst into the mainstream.

3 out of 5 stars Not Their Best, But Worth The Money.......1999-11-09

You've got to give them credit. Each time the SD's make a new album, they go for some different, not just a rehash of the previous album. With the other albums, the results have been great, but on this one, they are mixed. The first three songs are outstanding. Big Fat Funky Booty lives up to it's name and is hard to sit still to, You Let Your Heart Go Too Fast is a great driving rock song, and Cleopatra's Cat makes you want to snap your fingers and tap your feet. But then, something goes wrong. Not BAD wrong, I mean. It's still good stuff overall, and better than most bands will ever produce. But when you compare the rest of the album to the first 3 songs and their other albums, something is, well......lacking.

For the most part, the energy of their other work is just not there. Also, the singing leaves a bit to be desired on a couple of tracks like Mary Jane and At This Hour. Chris Barron is a talented singer with a unique voice, and I've been a fan of his for a long time, and I KNOW he can do better than that. And then there is Biscuit Head. I'm sorry, but the lyrics on this song are goofy and mindless, which is a damn shame, since the music is pretty cool. The Doctors do some goofy songs now and then, but their usually goofy in a fun and cool sort of way (example: Gorrilla Boy, Yo Mama's a Pajama), not like this.

Fortunately, there are some other bright spots besides the first three tracks. Indifference and Laraby's Gang has a nice, laid back appeal to them, but with good momentum so they're not boring. Hungry Hamed's is a cool, funky song that may well remind you of some restaurants you've been in.

Overall, the title of the review pretty much sums it up. You might won't to get some of their other albums first---namely Pocketful of Kryptonite, You've Got to Believe in Something, or, if you're feeling really adventurous, the more experimental Here Comes the Bride. Despite its flaws though, Turn it Upside Down is still a good CD, and a nice addtion to one's music collection.

3 out of 5 stars The Art of the Hook.......2007-03-20

Who knows why things turn out the way they do? If the high-rated sitcom "Jesse" had stayed on the air, this band might have stayed together and become more successful. But it was mysteriously canceled and along with it the raging power pop theme song "Time for You." This is a worthy album although it has its share of weak tracks. The good ones: the title track, "Come Unglued," "Superconductor," and "Time for You" make up for a general sense of blandness. Many of the "soaring" choruses sound too similar and seem rote. The band should have varied their song structures more with some ballads, some non-anthemic songs... But sparkling Beatlesque moments like "Come Unglued" make this worth buying or downloading.

5 out of 5 stars My favorite CD.......2007-02-25

I consider this CD the most perfect quintessence of power pop experience.
(The voices, the lyrics, the arrangements and the tunes).

My secret will is that this CD had been released by me!

The songs vary from slow ballads to upbeats rocks. Beautiful and inspired voices chorus.

They didn't intend to create a new musical style but I don't care, because Tories was a great Californian band that has released just two CDs.

Tories and many other great power pop bands (Big Star, Badfinger, Fountains of Wayne, Teenage Fanclub) or great indie rock bands (Tonic, Phantom Planet) or until good and happy teenager bands (Busted, McFly) are very grateful that Beatles have existed!

This CD is a little bit more mature than "Wonderful Life".

Two songs are very special for me: "All The World's For Sale" and "The Upside of Down"

5 out of 5 stars very good.......2003-08-15

I totally love this CD. This are great stars. I can't beleive you don't hear them on the radio.

1 out of 5 stars JELLYFISH? MORE LIKE GEFILTE FISH!.......2003-04-17

ONCE AGAIN, THE ... POPTOPIA FANS AND THE OVER 50 MIDDLEAGED MEN FANS EMBRACE THE CELINE DION OF POP MUSIC. SO WHAT, THESE GUYS CAN SING AND PLAY MUSIC, SO CAN MANY POLKA MUSICIANS. WHAT MATTERS MOST IS THAT THESE SONGS [are weak]. IT IS AS IF SOMEONE TOOK MUSIC BY THE BROWN EYED SUSANS ADDED GLOSS TO IT AND RUINED IT BY REWRITING THE SONGS TO SOUND LIKE TV THEME SONGS. THESE GUYS SHOULD WRITE TV THEME SONGS BECAUSE THE BLANDNESS OF THESE TUNES IS REMINISCENT OF RADIO JINGLES OR IRISH SPRING COMMERCIALS. JELLYFISH IS DEAD. THE CLOSEST YOU CAN GET IS JASON FALKNER OR THE ANDY STURMER PRODUCED MERRYMAKERS WHCH ARE LESS THAN SATISFYING DERIVATIVES OF THE ORIGINAL BAND. ARE WE TO EMBRACE THIS 3RD GENERATION PITIFUL ATTEMPT TO RECAPTURE THE GLORY OF JELLYFISH? JELLYFISH WROTE GREAT SONGS - THEY THEN RECORDED THEM USING CONSIDERABLE EXPENSE AND TALENTS. IF JELLYFISH HAD RECORDED A JUICY FRUIT COMMERCIAL USING THE ORIGINAL JINGLE THE RESULT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE TORIES. ...

4 out of 5 stars ... like if Jellyfish were a lot less clever ..........2002-04-23

Upside of Down is a solid pop release which is thoroughly enjoyable in it's own right. Why people feel the need to compare it to Jellyfish is beyond me. I have not experienced The Tories' first release (Wonderful Life, which I am told it is considerably better), but this album seems quite increadibly bland when contrasted to the magnificent Spilt Milk. So - Jellyfish lovers beware: this may not be the album you've been craving! If you are a fan of good pop generally, then Upside of Down is no dud. The guitars are rich and the vocal harmonies are impressive, but in no way are they as complex, intelligent or quite as beautiful as anything from the Sturmer/Manning catalogue. Perhaps you shoud try The Sun Sawed In 1/2 'Fizzy Lift' if this album leaves you a little bit cold.

2 out of 5 stars Is Gloomy Introspection Mixed With Self-Back-Patting For Being Emergently Radical A Good Thing?.......2006-10-13

I think the content consensus you get from other reviewers is fairly accurate, but the "five star" ratings are exaggerated. Derek's vocals on many of these songs are unusually scratchy and ragged. I can't tell if he sang that way on purpose for stylistic reasons, or if his voice really was that hoarse when he recorded the album.

The over-all emotional mood of the album is gloomy and self-reproaching. Derek seems to beat himself up over being a member of the middle class (as if that's a sin). The tone certainly is the opposite of the typical Top 40 praise music!

Some of the songs are impenetrable -- I originally thought that one was a warning to a friend tempted into an extramarital affair, then it turned out it was about Derek's feelings about leaving his old band! I wouldn't have had a clue, if I hadn't read an on-line interview where he said that was what it meant. Many of the songs sound nearly identical, musically. There's a musical conclusion to one song that just goes on for a lo-ong time.

When David wrote a gloomy, sad, or self-reproachful psalm, the Lord usually led him to end with a theme of looking up to God and drawing hope from His character and promises. In contrast, Derek ends this album with a song about himself and how differently he looks at life compared to everybody else. I don't think it's healthy to be this preoccupied with one's self -- whether negatively or positively.

4 out of 5 stars A fine sophomore effort.......2006-06-06

"I See Things Upside Down" ("ISTUD") is Derek Webb's second studio release, and in it he shows few signs of suffering a sophomore slump. While in my opinion it doesn't quite attain the level of "She Must and Shall Go Free" (a tough act to follow), Derek marches boldly into some new musical and lyrical territory here, and succeeds in most respects.

The general sound of ISTUD differs greatly from Derek's solo debut, which was rootsy from beginning to end, driven by acoustic guitar and adorned with slide guitar, banjo, and mandolin. Here, while acoustic guitar still drives some tracks, keyboards and electric guitars are thrust into the spotlight, and the result is an interesting hybrid between folk and atmospheric synth music. The sound takes some getting used to, especially if, like me, you've had no prior exposure to this kind of music, but after giving ISTUD a few spins I grew to like it. I admire Derek's artistic boldness in not only experimenting with a different musical style, but doing so convincingly.

That said, ISTUD suffers from uninteresting musical composition in places, and at times the music is so stark and dreary that it suffers for lack of beauty. The worst offender in that regard is Derek's monotonous, mostly two-chord adaptation of the hymn "The Strong, the Tempted, and the Weak." Also, after turning in the strongest vocal performance of his career on his solo debut, Derek's singing sadly takes a turn for the worse here. I don't know if the "throatiness" is deliberate, or if Derek's vocal cords have taken that much of a beating, but at times the singing here is just painful to listen to.

ISTUD does, however, have plenty of bright spots musically and vocally. "I Want a Broken Heart" has an expansive atmospheric sound which sets the table nicely for what follows. "Better Than Wine" is musically warm and rich, matching a sensuous lyric adapted from the Song of Songs. The stark tone of "Medication" matches its lyrics, which express Derek's rejection of unbiblical therapeutic approaches to life in favor of a rugged life following Jesus--even when that choice demands acute suffering. And the shimmering solo electric guitar on "Nothing Is Ever Enough" is simply gorgeous, providing a lovely backdrop for the song's plaintive lyrics.

But where Derek really delivers the goods on ISTUD is in the words. The very first line of "I Want a Broken Heart" is typically provocative: "I've got faith in the bank, and money in my heart." "Reputation" is a moving expression of contrition to a spouse. "I Repent" and "T-Shirts" expose and confront sins that many American Christians would not recognize as sins. And then there is the "Ballad in Plain Red." Sung from the devil's perspective, it outlines our ancient foe's strategy for working woe in the church in the 21st century. Think of it as a concise Screwtape Letters, updated for the present day.

Thus, while I'd recommend Derek's solo debut before this sophomore effort, ISTUD is definitely worth a listen. Especially for the words.

5 out of 5 stars Refreshingly Different.......2006-03-24

For a long time, I had given up on ever finding any Christian music I could really enjoy. Despite being a Christian myself, I thought the genre mostly comprised of repetitive, non-imaginative lyrics and cheesy music. However, when I was introduced to Derek Webb I was immediately thrilled by the thought-provoking lyrics and great music. The message he conveys to the church through his music is one that needs to be heard. His eye-opening and sometimes shocking lyrics are just what I was looking for, and more.

5 out of 5 stars I Repent of Taking So Long to Find Derek.......2005-12-22

wow

The lyrics on this album are blow-me-away good. I keep listening to it and finding more and more depth to each song. The images are vivid, the words convicting and the ideas Truthful.

Amen, Derek.

5 out of 5 stars Derek Webb's latest cd, good but not the best.......2005-10-26

I liked the cd. I did find it not has theological and church based as his last one, which I think is one of his strong suits in his music. However, I must say there this is more worship in the albmu than his last one. There is even one strong stonrg where he talks about being Satan which I find to be interseting. Over all, I think the cd is worth buying if you like Webb.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointed.......2006-12-08

I love Jack Johnson, Let me say LOVE him, but I was very disappointed that I paid $9.99 for 2 songs. It was probably my fault for not reading the list of songs but still shouldn't there be more than 2 songs for $9.99.

4 out of 5 stars Right Side Up.......2006-05-24

There just hasn't been many great songs that have been shown from movies recently. Yet, it is quite sad, there still are very few ones that have delivered quite nicely. Jack Johnson has definitely been one of those surprising ones that have brought it very well to the public. His latest single, Upside Down from the animated film Curious George is a delightful little diddy that delivers to both adualts and kids of all ages. I love this song a lot because it is just simple, and delightful to listen to. I hope that there can be good songs like this from Jack down the road, and I hope there can be better ones from the movies soon.

I bascially agree with the other review already posted. This EP captures just about all the moods of YLT in around 30 minutes. I picked it up for the long, feedback-drenched track, "Sunsquashed". Perfect for fans or just the curious.

5 out of 5 stars To see all that Yo La Tengo can be in a few songs.......2001-01-30

This cd is such a mix of all the faces that Yo La Tengo can have. One of their most beautiful artworks, this ep will give you (like it gave me) an amazing experience with music, for a low price. You have sweet songs like Upside-Down, some folk with the Farmer's Daughter, a little of punk with Out Of Control, a complete mass of guitars and virtuose with Sunsquashed. Yo La Tengo wonderful lyrics and one of the most criative sounds make this ep a great buy for all times.

Okay I'm one of the listeners who have heard Tik'n tak firstly on their ORIGINAL language...And yes like somebody said before. They are from Finland...6 girls Nea, Tuuli, Mimmu, Petra, Emppu & Noora. Very young all of them (youngest 16...oldest 18). They play their instruments by themselves and I can assure you all that they are phenomenal! Their album is really great and it has ONLY good songs. Really worth of getting. They originally released their album in finnish and I got it of course. Then they released a 2nd print of the same album that had a couple of new mixes and the english album. And the english album is actually even better than the original one! It has many great songs and "Upside down" is just one of the good songs! Be sure to get it
