5 out of 5 stars Awesome........2007-04-01

I was 11 and just beginning to listen to punk rock when this cd came out. I was too young to know their legacy, but I instantly loved this album. It makes me wish I had been 11 back in the 80s, so I could have gotten into the old stuff without issues like production quality really taking away from the listening experience (I've been spoiled, growing up in this modern age with amazing digital audio). I'm now 21 and working on a PhD in Biology. Thanks Milo.

5 out of 5 stars Flawless.......2006-11-10

This is without a doubt one of the best albums of the 90's. The Descendents practically invented pop-punk, and were hands down the best of the genre. Nowadays, the average kid is fooled into thinking that bands like good charlotte, new found glory, and simple plan are pop punk bands. Well, those are pop bands. The Desdendents are true pop punk, and you can see it in their music.
Milo is a great vocalist, and the band are very good at their instruments, at least for a punk band. The lyrics are immature, but they at least show that the Descendents aren't ready to stop making fun music!
There are so many great songs on this CD, so I can't possibly pick a favorite. I'm not even gonna give you a list of my favorite tracks. I'm just gonna tell you that you need to get this album if you're a punk fan. 'Nuff said.

5 out of 5 stars Wow, amazing.......2006-06-25

Wow, The Descendents! What else is there to really say? This band is amazing, I love all their work. This is probably their best release. Every song on here is classic. I never find myself skipping on. Descendents are just one of those punk/pop-punk bands whos melodic fast paced songs just stick into your head. I love how they can play fast in your face punk rock, then transition into a more melodic pop-punk styling. Milo Aukerman is one of my favorite lyricists because he's simple, catchy, and gets his point accross. He's very good at catching my attention. Plus this guy is no dummy, he went to college and majored in biochemistry. wow, fantastic eh?. He really goes through things a lot of guys can relate to, like girls (haha), growing old, love for coffee, and that's just to name a few. Their guitarist Stephen Egerton has got this distinct sound, thats almost amazing, I dont know what it is, but i love his fast chord progressions, and his sound is just very unique in a way, its raw yet polished..??? i cant explain it. Sure he isnt a Clapton or Hendrix, but thats no reason to say I dont like him. Bill Stevenson is a solid drummer, dishing out great punk/pop-punk beats. Karl, their bassist always gets to me with his intro on "Caught". All four of these men are in their own bracket. I feel they are one of the best punk bands out there. Black and The Descendents are my favorite punk bands ever. This album shines. So pick it up, along with Milo Goes, Somery, and ALL, DESCENDENTS = GOODNESS. Highlights of this album are "We", Sick O Me, Caught, This Place, When I Get Old, Hateful Notebook, Coffee Mug, She Loves Me, and my favorite song Rotting Out, overall this album wont dissapoint anybody who is a fan of punk or pop-punk for that matter.

4 out of 5 stars Not Popular Punk, but Pop Punk!!!.......2006-03-11

This band defenatly falls under the genre of punk with pop elements. Thats not a bad thing either, there are many bands out there that succesfully pull this off. Ill make this breif, all the songs are good. Buy this, you'll be happy you did, this is what pop punk (or punk in general) should sound like. Enough Said.

4 out of 5 stars Pop-Punk Goodness!.......2006-03-06

Got up this morning to make some coffee...everything sucks today...

God, I love that song. I love this album. Most of the songs are really quite short, and aren't even two minutes long, but that just makes it easier to sing with. This short, 15-song collection of catchy pop-punk tunes is sure to please anyone. From the hardcore punk rockers, to Green Day and Blink 182 fans, and to just any music fans in general. Like me. I like all kinds of music, and I love this CD. 'Everything Sucks', 'I'm The One' and 'When I Get Old' are very relatable songs, and 'Caught' is a cool, slightly political tune. 'Dog House' is another one I really like, that everyone seems to really hate. Lyrically, yeah, it's kinda stupid, but it's still awesome. My favorite song on here, though, is probably 'Sick-O-Me'. I can listen to it over and over again, and NEVER get tired of it.

This is reccomended to ANYONE. Punks, pop-punk fans, music fans in general. This can be loved by ANYBODY. I even know someone who is into a ton of gangster rap sh** that likes these guys. Ha. If you've never heard this band, get this album or 'I Don't Want To Grow Up'. You don't know what you're missin'!

4 out of 5 stars Good CD.......2005-07-17

This is a very good CD. I really like it. But the only reason that I rated it a 4 outta 5 is because it has crappy sound quality. My least favorite of RBF for that reason.

3 out of 5 stars ironic name! haha just kidding.......2003-03-21

first of all this is like a really old cd with all their old songs: re-realeased. when i bought it i thought that the songs were going to be newly-recorded, expecting that the track names i hadn't heard of, on their previous cds, to be new! yeah well thats not the case. it turns out that half the songs that are on other releases are recorded at a quality less than previously released. alright i hope that made sense. these are the recordings BEFORE the released the other cds..but since the other cds have already been out--released this one now with worse sound quality had me kinda of disapointed. this cd was worth it for the songs i hadn't heard before. if you alread have the other RBF cds then go for it, but if this is only your first or second RBF cd i'd suggest "why do they rock so hard" or "turn the radio off" before you buy this one.

5 out of 5 stars Child eats dog - you ain't seen the cover!.......2003-03-04

Everything Sucks! - By Reel Big Fish.

This albumn does have so much on it it's hard to know were to begin. Well first off you should know this band are a Ska Punk band and therefore you shouldn't buy it unless you like that style of music. Sounds like a more angry and faster amercanised version of Madness! Lots of fast guitar, trombones, Saxaphone and Trumpets.

The Songs:

I'm Cool
Join the Club
Call you
Hate You
I'll never be
Boyfriend
Fo'Head
Trendy
Skatanic
Why Do All Girls Think they're fat
Say "Ten"
I want your girlfriend to be my girlfriend too
Jig
Go away
Beer
Snoop Dog, Baby
Big ****in' Star
**** Yourself
Spin The Globe
I'm her man
Super Hero #5

I'll describe my favourite songs :-

'Hate You' has a lyric that i'd love to tell so many people "I hate you, F**k You, leave me alone!". But seriously I mean it is quite truthful that you would want to say so many things that you just end up not bothering to get round to or having the arrogance.

"I want your girlfriend to be my girlfriend too!" Now I definetly want to say that to some people. This song is funny, and at a medium pace compared to the rest of the albumn. Not a ballad by a long shot but nice enough to tap your foot to, if you don't really listen to the lyrics it's a nice tune, but be warned the lrics are hilarious!

"Beer" This song is an ode to all of those guys out there that have bother with a girl and turn around and say " Oh well lets get Pissed!" I'm definetly one of those guys so I can relate very well to this song! The guitar in this song is excellent and the opening riff is one of the best on this albumn. The lyrics are truthful and straight to the point, with nice lyrics rather than the obscene screaming of a hard rock band! Unrequited Love is a hard thing to accept but this song gladly points out that to take the pain away there's always Beer!

"**** Yourself" Self explanatory title. The reason this song makes me smile so much is that if my ex-girlfriend ever listens to this albumn i'd just like her to know that this song is definetly written with me and my thoughts about her in mind. The line "One day you'll come back to me and I'll say why don't you why don't you go and F**k Yourself!" is a taster of how high an opinion I have of my ex.

Come to think of it this whole albumn is rather negative about girls in general, I think target audience is young guys with out a care in the world! This albumn is only available on import in the uk at the moment and therefore is quite expensive but seriously worth it as you do get 21 tracks and an enhanced cd to play the video on your computer! Contact me if your having trouble finding it and I'll gladly let you know where to pick up a copy! anyway hope you enjoy it as much as I do

5 out of 5 stars COVER ART IS THE COOLEST.......2002-06-15

I really love this CD so much. I mean, the music is cool, but the cover art has to be the coolest I've seen...EVER...even if you don't like ska, buy this CD just because the cover art RULES!

3 out of 5 stars Not really what i expected.......2000-09-08

When i bought this CD, I thought I'd be in for the bouncy, happy jovial skank music that i've come to love (thru napster of course). Buuuuut to my suprise i pop in the CD and most of the songs sound quite "washed out" (like the singer is in another room or something). They weren't bouncy, and actually made me feel kinda sleepy. Maybe someone's playing a prank on me! I'm gonna go buy Turn the Radio Off.

3 out of 5 stars RBF is ok with this album.......2000-09-07

ive loved rbf for years now and i finally bought this title from amazon.com. It is allright but you have to realize the sound quality is lacking and the songs seem a little slower. dont buy unless you are a huge rbf fan with $16 burning a hole in your pocket.

5 out of 5 stars Everything Sucks... Easily their best CD.......2000-09-02

Reel Big Fish is my favorite ska band, and unlike most people it seems, I love Everything Sucks. I think it's much better then Why Do They Rock So Hard?, Keep Your Reciept, or Turn the Radio Off. It's got about 13 songs from other CDs, but they sound very different. I like this older sound alot more then their newer Mojo stuff. My advice? Buy this CD. If you think you're a Fish fan but don't like it, have yourself put to sleep.

5 out of 5 stars Everything Sucks (except Reel Big Fish).......2000-05-13

I bought a bootleg of this a long time ago, but when it was re-released, I bought it for the extra tracks and enhanced feature (it is also re-mastered and sounds much better) My one complaint: Why did they cut the original "S.R." ? I like it better than the Turn the Radio Off version... is it because the copyrights of the bands named in the song? (diff. lyrics than the re-recorded version) Anywho, this CD kicked when I got the bootleg and it kicks in it's re-release... it sounds so great! I like the extra tracks, especially "I'm Her Man"... the enhanced feature is "so-so"... not even comparable to the incredible one on "Keep Your Receipt", but it is still a nice bonus (even though the music video is the same as the "Keep Your Receipt" version, except MUCH better quality) Like Blink's "Buddha", this is a nice opportunity to get in on what the band sounded like before their fame and fortune (even though Reel Big Fish still aren't even close to being as "Hollywood" as Blink-182 is now) I really miss Adam Polakoff though. I wish he were still with the Fish, as well as the other original members. I also miss Andrew Gonzalez (retired) and Grant Barry (kicked out of the band) ... but Carlos De La Garzo is an awesome drummer, as he showed with Action League and Suburban Rhythm. He's a nice addition to the group, but they have yet to replace Grant. Anywho, this CD kicks, get it before it's out of print again (this is a limited run, that's why it costs so much!)

4 out of 5 stars Sums up their style.......2000-05-07

I love reel big fish and this is a good cd but i dont recommend it to people who have the other cds. If your a really big fan who wants 50 of everything by them then buy it...it only has a few new songs that arent on other cds. the other songs are on other cds but they are different because they had other members in the band...if you are buying this cd to be your first by them its a good choice because it has many of their different styles on it. i also recommend buying keep your receipt as a first album by them because its cheaper and still gives you a taste of their style.
